Update: -Sharpie oil based white paint pen in extra fine point is a DREAM on laminated tabs! -the posca paint pens/markers scratch/rub off laminated tabs. -I’ve tried my dymo label maker but they’re too wide for my liking and cause my tabs to stick out too much.
I just made a bunch of tabs out of scraps yesterday! I have the same punch. Just a tip when the lunch blades start to dull...get some aluminum foil and fold it a couple of times, then punch into that about 10 times.
This is SO weird. I was chasing down a We R Memory tab punch yesterday while running errands, and I had also searched your video library to see if you'd ever made a tabs video; I check your channel today and boom!!!! I better go buy a lottery ticket now!
Yes! As a teacher, when I write on something, even with Sharpie, I place scotch tape over my ink to prevent it from being smeared. I wanted a tab punch for quite a while. Pricing on Amazon and Hobby Lobby, I finally purchased at Hobby Lobby using my 40% discount coupon.
One day I will have a tab punch for my stash... when I figure out how to incorporate tabs into my system. 😹 Thanks for the ideas about what to write with. I will definitely come back to this. Thank you so much for sharing. Your papers are gorgeous. 🧡🗂
Thank you! ♥️I have a video about this journal setup here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MUCO_aDrCTg.html. And here is how I collage my covers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LdTGCWQKCcA.html
When it comes to tab placement, obviously you are putting them on after the writing, but when writing, are you conciously making room for the tab (i.e - not writing to the edge) are do you find yourself covering a word when placing the tab? Great idea by the way and as someone mentioned below, I would find it hard to decide what was important enough for a tab, since i journal daily. Thanks for sharing!
I typically add decor and washi to my pages so there’s usually a place I can stick a tab. I don’t mind covering decor but I won’t cover writing. I wasn’t sure what I’d be tabbing when I started and it was cool to see how it evolved. And I’m sure it will continue to evolve! Thank you for watching♥️
Thank you for discussing & demonstrating this Sarah! I love the whole idea. Could you use the thicker packing tape to cover the tabs? Thank you in advance for all you do xoxo
I’m definitely going to try packing tape instead of laminating! And someone mentioned putting 2 tabs together before taping to thicken them up. So many great ideas in the comments! Thank you for being here, Cynthia♥️♥️
I should have mentioned it but the dymo labels are too wide! It would have been perfect, but I don’t like my tabs to stick out that much. Thank you for the suggestion!
Have you tried a sharpie paint pen in extra fine? I like the idea of tabs, I just do not have a system for them. I have been thinking about blending my journal and prayer journal and using tabs to mark my prayers. Love your journal.
I love the idea of tabbing prayers! Sometimes you just gotta dive in to find out your system. You could use something like Tombow temporary adhesive or washi tape so you have the option to remove or rearrange. Have fun!🤗
Sarah Martinez I think I am going to try the Midori tabs. They are tiny and do not stick out but a few mm. I have not trying writing on them, but I could definitely color code them. I have been using them in my homeschool journal to separate my subject by color.
If it’s a thicker journal, how do you decide which topic gets a tab? If it’s a daily journal there are so many topics I wouldn’t know which to use a tab for.
I actually think thicker journals look better with tabs because I get to use so many! Honestly, I don’t have set rules about what gets tabbed, I just decide as I go. I have a lot of stream of consciousness journaling and those are the pages I generally don’t tab. But it’s really about what topics mean the most to you♥️
Sarah Martinez I totally agree with thicker journals look more better with tabs.. but for me now I just go for it whenever and wherever I want a tab. There’s no wrong or right way I just have fun with. #Havefun☺️
@@sarahmartinezjournals Of course! If the paper is single sided, I also glue a second paper tab to the back to help reinforce it a bit and create a double sided tab.
