You did get a lot of work done. Nice job. I use an electric saws all on small trees & shrubs. Best to have help around with a bigger tree. I'm allergic to sumac so I wear gloves & long sleeves around them. I agree with you on the landscape fabrics. News paper or cardboard is better.
I agree I’ll never use weed cloth again! I haven’t been doing much outdoors either it’s just to hot here in Florida! Can’t wait for fall/ winter that’s gardening season here!😎👍❤️
I probably don’t have a right to call it hot here because it would probably be considered perfect for you with your Florida heat 😂 thanks for watching!
It's good to give yourself grace when so many variables seem to be throwing you curve balls. I like the corner where you planted turtle heads for erosion control. I put a baptisia in a sunny spot like that about 8 years ago and it has been a wonderful working perennial for me. I lol'd over the catch and release garden snake.
Oh baptisia is a beautiful perennial that’s for sure! Yes my daughter loves snakes and names them all Eleanor lol we keep one for a day and then let it go, and then catch another one a couple days later and we just repeat that all summer long!
Mya, it looks so much better glad to you’re taking the sumac out I’m not a fan of that plant to invasive. Depending on your sun level in that corner you could add a trellis with a climbing rose behind the hydrangea.
Yes it’s a real bummer because they are so beautiful but they just take things over. We never planted it, it’s just the wild variety and we have them everywhere. That corner is on the south side of the house and on the west side of the little tack shed so it would get the hot afternoon sun. A rose would be beautiful there but the hydrangea will hopefully get 6-8 feet tall so it should hopefully fill in the corner nicely!
I tried using landscape fabric years ago and I hated it. Your flower bed looks great. I have an area I need to tackle and get a bunch of pop up trees and weeds I’ve neglected.
Hi Mya as a person who has spent the last 15 years trying to remove spiderwort keep an eye on it. It can be very thuggish. Looks so good freshly mulched
Hi Mya, I have a bed in worse shape than that! I cover my eyes when I walk by 😂😂!! We’ve had a heat wave also so I only go out in the evening but that’s when we are inundated with mosquitos because of being by a lake so the area got ignored. I’m am going to try to tackle it in the next couple days since it’s cooling down. As you were walking to that bed on your left (1:50) was a shrub with purple blooms, couldn’t get a clear view if the blooms (look like a delphinium bloom) were part of the shrub or a different plant. What was it? I also planted Spiderwort this year and it looks like a hot mess but I’ve seen them established and they are very nice. I’ll need to get a few Turtle Head plants, never had them . Great video, real life gardening!! Thanks Mya, Brenda🇨🇦ZN4
That makes me feel a little bit better that I’m not alone! Those mosquitos are vicious this year that’s for sure. Yes it is a delphinium! Normally my delphiniums stand up pretty well but this year they have all flopped over even with me trying to tie them up. You can’t go wrong with turtle heads, I absolutely love them! Thanks for watching!
