Taco had a lot of excellent songs, but not everything tops the charts. I loved the entire After Eight album. I wore that LP record out. The big shame is this album is out of circulation. Can't even find a digital version to buy.

@@miniskunk I always see that album while thumbing though record bins. Usually really inexpensive. And according to discogs.com, there's an unofficial CD version making the rounds originating from Russia but that may be harder to find.

It wasn’t any better in America, where “Cheek To Cheek” was chosen instead as the follow-up single. It was basically “Ritz”, “Cheek To Cheek”, and this single in America, and then he basically gave up trying to have anymore international success and mainly stuck to Germany and anywhere else where any success found him.

I loved Taco and Putting on the Ritz in the 80's! He had/has such a unique and good voice. Loved the video too, one of my favorites when MTV actually played music videos. I never knew there were all these other songs and videos/TV show clips! Taco is certainly a wonderful singer and performer who was and IS willing to try new and different things. I've been enjoying all the videos and songs that have been coming up the past two days. Can't get enough. I wonder if there is a Best of Taco c.d. out there? I would definitely buy it.

This was pretty much his last single in most of the world. After this, for a long time, he mainly released music in Germany.

One of a kind!

His sound was similar to Human League and other new wave/synth-pop artists at the time, but his specialty was revamping pop standards in the new wave sound only with a smooth vocal style. That's what made him one of a kind.
