Tacoma transmission vibrations & Fix in Description 

Thank you Vaughn. I was expecting a large bill at the transmission shop. Watched your video. I had the exact problem. The vibration at a certain speed. I got my truck into the Toyota shop last weekend. They flushed my transmission and like magic my transmission is back to normal. Thank you very much!

This very common with the Tacoma 05-09. I would recommend looking at your U-Joints and transmission fluid. The Tacoma has 3 U-Joints and usually last about 150k miles before you have to replace depending on your driving. If that does not solve the problem remove the transmission pan from your truck and clean out the metal junk inside the pan and add fresh transmission fluid. I would also recommend adding a new transmission filter. This process is very easy to do and would take about a day to complete. You will notice a night and day experience when driving. My 07 Tacoma has 350k miles and runs smooth. There is also another problem that will happen later on that I am experiencing which is the Shift solenoid I have to replace mine but it’s easy to do. I saw many videos on different things this could have been related to until I saw this video, I did what you said, I took it to Toyota and had the transmission flushed and filter changed and it went away. I have a 2009 Tacoma and it runs like it did when I got it back in '09. Thank you again.

I have a 2005 Tacoma with 109,000 miles and it’s started shaking/ vibrating when going up hill. I took it to Toyota today and payed 260 for a flush. I drove it around after and it seemed like it was fixed but as soon as I was driving up to get into the freeway it started to shake , sort of like tremble but as soon as I give it more gas it goes away. Anyone know what’s going on ? Edit: I changed the spark plugs and drove it around more and the vibrations stopped. I don’t know which fixed the problem but it does not vibrate anymore

This video saved me about $3000. I was about to let amco rebuild my transmission but after seeing this video and reading the comments I decided to take it to toyota and ended up spending about 200 on a transmission fluid flush!! WOW! I bought 9 months ago 2007 tacoma Sr5 4 door 4.0 and discovered that there is a problem with my truck but not sure where to start with it.. Just to clarify my vibrations happens between 20-40 and with out pushing fast on the gas paddle, but if i push hard on paddle and engine runs faster vibration will not appear... its this what you had???? If you hear a squeaking sounnd and vibration between 30-40 mph it's the universal joint you can look and see the grease where the joint rotates and the worn out seal. If it feels like a bumpy ride between shifts 25-30-40 mph and go's away if you drive in 4th and manually shift to 5th when you get to 45-50 it's the transmission fluid.it cost about $200 for the service should be done every 100k miles. It's a drain and fill no new filter. WS fluid is to be used or equivalent not any old thing you will jack up your transmission. Had mine done today stop immediately on a 2009 tacoma. With 149k miles on it. I know I'm an asshole forgive me🤣

Yes. Under hard acceleration it didn't vibrate. Also if you take it out of overdrive and leave it in 4th gear I wouldn't get any vibrations. Try soft acceleration in 4th gear. See if you have anything. I'll be waiting for your post back

I've narrowed it down to torque converter lockup. I've been told it needs a complete rebuild, just a new torque converter, to just needing a trans flush. I'm going to drop the trans pan and see if there's any metal and see how the fluid looks. If worse comes to worse I will have it rebuilt but I plan on trying a flush first.

I was wondering if the rpms you are getting are normal? my 2005 tacoma just had transmission flush today. and for the first time I started paying attention to it. still don't know if I am supposed to get more rpms. just wondering since I couldn't find another video on RU-vid. thanks.

I have exactly the same situation going on with my 05 Tacoma I just bought it on offer up.

got the same thing in my Rav4 2011. Dealer told me to scrap the car because it needs a whole new transmission. Seems to shift ok. Just does that funny vibration thing at 35-40mph. Kinda like going over those strips on the freeway. Having another mechanic look at it. Hopeful he can do something. Is yours still ok ? (if you still own it)

The dealership i went to told me $425.00 to flush and fill. But i have read that it's now good to flush a 15yr old transmission on a 05 Tacoma. Because it will cause it to leak and then you will have even more problems.

Is this the drivers side needle bearing wearing out?

Same problem on my 2017. Almost identical RPM and speed. Took it to Toyota and they thought it was torque converter but will run diagnostic tomorrow.

I had the bushing go out right behind the seal for the torque converter on my 07 tacoma v6 4x4. Causes slight vibration and then led to a leak around the bell housing area. It also scarred the oil pump cover where the copper bushing sat because it was worn out to the point it was spinning with the torque converter.

My hanger bearing is on it's way out. No vibrations what so ever, transmission shifts smooth at 200k.

Ibe got a rav 4 that at about 25 and sometimes 45 50mph it'll do like a shudder/vibrations that goes from the front and lile vibrates throughout the whole car. I want to just do a good flish but dealership says oh no if its never beem changed and im not sire thatnit has then it could cause more problems. If it already needs to be replaced accourding to them then I want to try flushing and refilling it first.

09 4 runner.. same problem shuttering at low speed in D only. Did the transmission flush and all of the drive line fluids ...the shutter went away for one year and has just returned 13 months later. Not very easy to check the fluid level on a sealed transmission with no dipstick

I have the same issue with my 03 v8 4runner. I determined its the tranny because if I drive in "4" it drives and shifts perfectly. its only with the overdrive "D" gear where I experience it, I'm going to give the $300 tranny flush a shot and hope that fixes it. I've already tried a tranny "shudder shake" additive and it didn't help (heard it works wonders on Fords)

Sorry for the long delay. Yes I had the problem fixed the day after Christmas on 2012. After every trans shop telling me I need a complete rebuild, I took it to Toyota to have them perform a complete trans flush on it. It has been 9 months now and I have had no vibration issues since.

Toyota costumer support program ZH2. U joint + hanger and possible drive shaft replacement under new extended warranty. Program runs through 4/19 for 2005 to 2011 Tacomas.

Guys,I have the same problem with my Tacoma Manual Transmission 342K miles already! it starts to vibrates on 2nd to 3rd shift and so on until it reaches 65 mph, vibration will gone if exceeds 70mph and also if I take off my foot in accelerator. So, by transmission flushing it will fix the issue? wow! so excited to go to dealer and let them do it. However, am hesistant if that's the solution,I was thinking bad center bearing or shaft not align or spark plug! pls need advise but flushing mightbe the solution?!!!!thanks in advance

Well year later I'm having more problems with the transmission.. I have to take it back to dealer. He told me something with the shaft inside transmission.. Do you have any issues?

I have a 2010 Tacoma Double Cab V6 SR5 4x4. My transmission vibrates or shudders on takeoff and coming to a stop. It also hunts for the right gear between 30 and 40 mph while cruising through traffic. I have had it hold a gear too long and then lurch into gear. Does it sporadically. Been to the dealer twice about it and they tell me the transmission is fine. B.S.!! I think they just don't want to fix it because I didn't buy it from them. (I bought it used with 34,000 miles) its been gradually getting worse and it only has 51,000 miles on it now. I'll never buy a Toyota again.

Having this issue right now, Vibrate in "D" around 25 to 30 mph but if i shift to 4 and stay there it do not vibrate. I'm changing the fluid soon.

Why have dealer flush. Seems to me you just dump and use a pump to refill

I get a random solitary thud much like what a slip yoke thud feels like when in highest gear/low rpm 1100/50-60kph. I wouldnt call it a vibration though.

my 2007 fj cruiser does it at 30mph only at 1200-1500 rpm at high rpm 2000-3000 there is no vibration at all..

i just purchased this truck at auction. didnt notice anything for a week. its vibrating at those speeds and only with a slow acceleration. looks like i need a flush. sounds way better than a new tranny

I own a Independent Repair shop and we use toyota type ws Fluid. THE CORRECT FLUID! Fucken idiots think the dealer only does work correctly.

I have this problem as well w/ my 09 trd sport sb. My dealer said the problem would go away when I did the rear leaf spring recall change. NOT!! They acknowledge the problem but basically say, You fucked up, you traded in your "93 and bought a $30+K piece of shit.
