Tacoma Washington Warehouse Fire 3113 South Pine Street Building goes up in flames then Collapses [Large Blaze] near Goodwill Outlet Store. This was crazy. You could feel the heat from across the street. The brave Tacoma firefighters were amazing. They kept it from burning the power lines, nearby cars, and nearby buildings. The Tacoma police did a great job of getting the area blocked off. Was very unique to get a front row seat watching this. The sound of the building collapsing was eerie. Thankfully nobody appeared to be inside or injured.

Bowstring trusses, firefighters know to stay out of these buildings in the event of a fire! That is exactly why. Good catch.
@notthatdonald1385

It was a write off before the FD even got there. They immediately set up a collapse zone too.

@@notthatdonald1385 Five Hackensack, NJ, firefighters died on July 1, 1988, while fighting a fire at an automobile dealership. The firefighters were in the bowstring-truss building when the roof suddenly collapsed. Three of the firefighters were killed in the middle of the service area where the garage doors are open after the truss roof and heavy ceiling collapsed. The two other firefighters were trapped in a rear storage room and could not be rescued. God bless them all. I think there was another bowstring roof collapse in FDNY, taking many firefighters also.

A very instructive fire. TFD did a great job of setting up master streams and surrounding the fire. We can see just how fragile the truss roof systems are, as well as the concrete block walls that hold them up. Wisely, a generous collapse zone was established.

@enid0mom
@enid0mom 3 года назад
@@joeschlotthauer840 I have to correct myself. I found out the transmission repair company moved out and a business linen company moved in. That must have taken a lot of deep cleaning to keep everything from smelling like a transmission shop. That gives it a completely different kind of fuel for a fire. At least it isn’t releasing quite as much really bad pollution as a transmission company would. They probably use solvents, nut completely different kinds. That fire could have been smoldering for even days until the whole thing reached a certain temperature. That building was gone before the firefighters even got there.

Best thing to do with a fire like this, let it burn and protect the exposures. Bow String Truss roofs like that are dangerous in a fire situation. Trying to put it out when you know the fire load is too great, just wastes water and sends toxic runoff into the storm drains and surrounding streams (if any). They did the right thing here. keep it contained and let it go.

Thats what that smell was. There was speculation from bystanders that was a weed warehouse of sorts. Good thing for you it wasn’t:) take care and thanks for commenting

This fire is kinda crazy. I live in Washington, not in Tacoma, north of there. Whats crazy is i live on pine st and 1st. And the buildings are the same evergreen snd white. Pine or p=7 and 1st =71=8 and 3113=44=8. And pine square address is 311>301 ending at the courthouse which is 207 and 702 s 1st st which is the corner of pine snd 1st had a upstairs fire. I live across the street and 701 is a bookstore just below me. Plue at 3:54, my age.lol a white van pullings in to a parking lot with the plate c1d608h. That's like 314688 and that 4 can be expressed 13 making it 3113 and 60 is 6o making it 31136688. Nobody cares i know because I've said this. Peace and agap'e.

Unfortunately the building was heavily involved prior to arrival of TFD. Apparently no sprinkler service. Hope they had good insurance.

There is a reason there was a warehouse there and a goodwill outlet.

Why did it take so long to get water on the fire? Also, next video you make, try to stay focused on the primary aspect of the event rather than panning back and forth. Oh, yea, the shot of the smoke cloud is not really necessary. At least you held your camera reasonably steady - that's much better than many other videos I've.

For me, I see a warehouse burning, I think Lebanon and my instinct would be to get away from it.
