In my opinion, zidane's plan failed because of Marcelo. He wasn't contributing to the press, neither was he tracking back. Game was even after he was subbed out. Tuchel showing again why he is top class. Second leg will be good
Idk... highly doubt pulisic will start the second leg so will either be ziyech or CHO because pulisics yellow in this game will carry into the next game and if he gets another yellow in the second leg then it results in a red which would mean if chelsea gets through he would be unavailable for the final
Football used to be about who had better players or who could score more now its just who can press better or who can defend more. All these tactics have sucked the goals out of football, and its showing
I found Chelsea very deadly in the opening mins of the game tearing down the Madrid defense and not allowing any progression by pressing very well. I even thought that they had more men on the pitch because they were everywhere and it took Madrid side some time to understand what was happening and by that time they had already scored. Second half I found it more balanced on the both the sides and was happy to see Madrid adjust to Chelsea's tactics and try to be a better side.
I dint say Madrid was the better side it's not even close to what I expected from them. All I said was they improved in the second half compared to the first
Like I said don't underestimate Chelsea's defense. Real Madrid had one shot on target at home in a UCL semi. That was a class goal from benz. Our defense now compared to last season is night and day
@Ganiyu Idris They don’t really play attacking football, it’s more counter attacking. They don’t usually dominate but when their opponents make a mistake they’ll punish them and that’s what they did today. Chelsea fans were saying Real Madrid wouldn’t score well guess what they did and if they score at the Bridge it’s over.
@@prometheustv6558 .....Madrid will suffer from Chelsea tactic if they attack, the best is to sit deep in defence,Chelsea will most likely play same formation in the second round
@Ganiyu Idris it's not that Real Madrid didn't attack, it's that they couldn't because the midfield was disjointed partly because they didn't trust the defense behind them.
This match made me realize for the first time how good Thomas Tuchel really is. Klopp and Guardiola watch out, there is a new world class manager in town!
If casmerio didn't push high up it would be much better for Madrid defensively If werner didn't lack the finishing then Chelsea would be 3-1 up in the first half
Anyone else feel like Chelsea 3-2-5 attacking pattern is Pep's possession tactics + Jurgen's very counter system? They are getting really good.I hope Zidene would prepare more for 2nd leg.
Yes they all like play a 442 ,or 4 33 which morphs to 3 2 5 in build up.Having 5 players in defensive positions and 5 players in attacking positions. Pep,Tuchel and Klopp
Someone pointed out that he may well have been fasting before this game. That's insane to me, I can't even walk to the bathroom without having breakfast.
Tuchel and Zidane just showing why they both are considered as one of the best tactician on this era. If Werner's finishing was better, those 1.76 xG would have been converted for Chelsea easily in the first half. On the other hand, Zidane adapted Tuchel's plan quickly to prevent a disasterous performance. Benzema's goal was also a crucial point though.
That's just what I like about Zidane. He reads every game and adapted. I stopped watching football until UCL finals in which Juve and Madrid played. I couldn't believe Zizou used a whole half to watch Juve play and then turn things around to beat Juve the favourites and even Buffon. He just adapts to whatever is asked of him and still contending. He is my best coach.
Chelsea really stopped all the progression through the central area and Kante literally cut off all the passing option to Tony Kroos. That's the thing that decided the match. And look Tuchel catched up Vinicius by setting Azpiallquetta against him and also Christensen gave him the support.
I felt that Chelsea overwhelmed Madrid, just for 30 mins. After that, Benzema scored and proved that he's still a deadly striker despite his age. The match then died when Madrid equalized and Chelsea stopped pressing like they did for the first 20 minutes cause they're not used to this, unlike Bayern.
You are just biased in your opinion. Chelsea was clearly better than Real Madrid throughout the game. It's just unfortunate that they did not convert most of the chances they had.
@@mosesokoth5969 Be sure to watch the second leg. Real Madrid should have a better team as more players will be available. It will be a blockbuster! Hala Madrid!
@@anzarkareem1792 Probably it is a little cocky, I just have the instinct and knowledge to tell if the youngster is promising. The game against Betis was intense as well, he did play well when substituted in on the second half. Just as what he had done over the last few games. Very confident and calm player, always knows what to do and made the right decisions. Linking up and defence appeared on the right position as well. Also showed nice skills when having possession. Physical condition needed to be improved though.
And that's something the rest of the world doesn't understand yes he misses vital chances for us but he's ALWAYS involved in most of our goals...His luck is going to turn trust me
His movement off the ball is really good (notice how he pulled both defenders towards him to give Pulisic the space to go right past the keeper). I just wish he was as good when he had the ball.
@@angelkay1870 yeah but yeah I would have rather him have gotten another yellow in this game and gotten the red and missed the next game because no way he starts the next game because the yellow from this game carries into the next and if he gets a yellow in the next game then is a red and he is out for the final (if we win)
@@richardgrace5043 What are the chances of an attacker like him getting another yellow soon? he only tackles when he absolutely has too. He's not getting booked any time soon. He couldve gotten us a second goal tonight, him and ziyech would be deadly upfront.
Very good analysis. Chelsea were pretty much attacking On the right side. I wonder why TT didn’t start James? But at the same time I understand why he started Azpilicueta. What do you guys think?
it was a tactical decision, if hazaard had started he would have played James, why? because if James started he would get tired before Hazard comes in, although he would have created more chances too and goal scoring opportunities but i hope he starts in the second game including Giroud & Kovacic
We lacked the final killer pass. Timo’s glorious chance would have made it 2-0. And we had a couple other of chances as well. 3 or 4-0 at half time would have been the fair result. But we’re not ‘killers’ in attack. We can’t kill a game, or a team off.
If you want to talk about real madrid , you should also talk about their fouling and intimidation tactics as well . They always disturb their opposition calmness and use it as their weapon . It also stops or slows down the game which is sometime crucial for the aging team.
I was actually impressed by Mason Mount, until now I thought he was bit overrated but now I understand why Chelsea fans rate him that high. A future ballon d’or contender for sure!!
In the second leg, Valverde can increase Real madrid's midfield line pace. Also, Mendy can cover the backline spaces and be more effective in offensive phase. In the other hand, Ramos can be an important target in free kicks or corners. At the end do not forget that Benzema is still on fire and Chelsea will face Man.city. Guardiola can be a mentor for Zizou.
@@maruf2050 yes but defeating Pep twice is not as easy as you think. Madrid showed there are some cracks in Chelsea's defense structure, mostly in free kicks.
I wish he would actually pass the ball forward, over the defense, to split the defence, between the lines. Something a la Xavi or Pirlo or Kroos, etc. A killer passer, and a clinical striker is what this Chelsea side is missing.I have had enough of Werner, it’s just too frustrating.
@@atilaszlo8288 we have good passers. Kovacic was missing today but jorginho was decent. And our centre backs even look to play the long ball. In the end all we needed was werner scoring ffs.
@Shinji he hasn't performed well for Chelsea. He's decent but not the best crosser. Pretty solid defensively though, I'd admit. Just that in this particular match they needed a good crosser because they created good overloads in the flanks and chilwell found a lot of space on many occasions to deliver a good cross. Someone like cancelo or shaw would have given amazing crosses from there
@Sihle Makanya yes headers aren't the only way you can score from a cross. There's so many runners in the Chelsea midfield, once a good cross comes in anyone can poke it in, even Kante XD
This just shows how underrated Tuchel is as a coach...he made it to the final last year and there is a solid chance he will manage to do it again , however with a team he has coached hardly a few months!
Chelsea had a chance to win the match and real were very fortunate and this could benefit them in the return leg, with Ramos ,Valvede and even Ramos return.
When Madrid dominated Liverpool, they was 2-0 up by half time, Chelsea dominated Madrid and the game was only 1-1 by half time, this is the problem. I can definitely see us giving Madrid nothing at Stamford Bridge but one wonder moment from Benzema is all it takes for them to go through. Just like how Porto got a goal in the last minute of the second leg, I could see Madrid doing something similar and then we’re out. God damn I wish our strikers knew how to score, looking at ya Werner.
But i think in the first half it saved us from 2 goals, all we have to try and do now, is score 2 goals in Stamford Bridge, it will be tough but i have faith in them.
yeah it dint work..the goal was a real maker of that formation..but zidane had to put that to couter Chelsea attack..no mendy and valverde for pace so he need to do something
I think Chelsea should be criticized for not winning this game, Real Madrid is a tired senior team with a lot of injured players and I think Carvajal got hurt again in the match, Chelsea has a lot of depth and more young players to choose from. Real only had one good player with two ok ones on the bench. The good one would be Odriozola, he is very sufficient and helpful, The other two are Hazard and Asensio who have been more of a burden than help this season, I hope they could both get their true forms back.
Greizmann , Alba ,Messi ,pedri & frenkie have created 192 chances this season ,they have 200 shots on goal in la liga only If halland looks for goal he must go to Barca by this time he could have scored 60+ goals out of these 190+ chances
Chelsea are very solid defensively they only need one goal and Real is done,Benzema bailed Real in thr first leg,but will that always be possible?waits to be seen.
Chelsea maintained their shape, happy to see the home team adjust their play, we saw Man city also fail to perform in the cup. Tuchel prefers making his opponents fail to play their usual football, its part of his game plan.
The way people are hyping up the return of Ramos and Mendy. I am confused as to what they are ? Messi or Ronaldo like goal scorer who can turn the events on their own?
@Adam Galovič if that makes you a lil relief then its ok 😂😂😂 Dont care who comes in the next match. You know whats coming for you 😂😂 Chelsea isn't that small of a club that you think. Even you know that people like you calls Chelsea small club because of pure hatred and jealous of how much of money we have in our club. And btw we respect our club legends who played their heart out for the club. Try it Madrid fans it actually feels good ok? 😂
@@LauraLasan69 Club legends?? Lmao🤣🤣. How many legends do ya have?? Chelsea is a small club when compared to Real Madrid. How many ucl titles have ya won? Ya also said that Chelsea treats it's legends well. What about Lampard? U guys sacked him. Moreover, Real Madrid is the greatest club of all time. So, stfu!!
@@LauraLasan69 Chelsea is actually a big club but not big infront of madrid, bayern, ac milan, barcelona. And that's a fact ...but that doesn't mean chelsea is not s good this season...they look better than madrid .
@@infooasis584 funny thing you said 😂😂😂 instead of knowing our club's legends how about you remember one of your club legend and actually gave a nice respected farewell lol. And i never compared Chelsea with real just read everything before commenting. And all you can do is talk about past glory its Ronaldo who carried your back and delivered those trophies and kinda funny how ass hole fans like you treated him. 😂I actually feel sad for him. And your last question is so childish and irrelevant how does respecting a legend and sacking came in together? Club legend is the respect he earned and manager role is just a duty he was offered. But wait you know nothing about club legend how can you understand what i said 🤔. Even Liverpool sacked kenny and he is still their legend wdym actually by that 😂😂
RM will struggle and rely on transition against a team with an expansive system and technical players. Apart from K8, M10,B9 they dont have the players to retain possesion and resist a press(I am an RM fan)
I think in the second half, and more so towards the last 15-20 minutes, Real continued to press with a midfield three, but at times it seemed like they were parking the bus. In the whole game I saw counter-attack after counter-attack by both teams, but in those last few minutes, Real seemed scared to push at times
If we had Ramos and Mendy, we would have been more solid at the back, which would make us more relax and focused on offense. Marcelo and Nacho are not up to par. Second leg is a 2-0 win for Madrid
@@olusolapelumi6660 if we play first 45 minutes aggressively like we did today we will destroy real Madrid .. kovacic and kante ..we have to attack them not to seat back in air for opportunity..by seeing real Madrid play we have lots of fire 🔥 power in every department .Psg Vs chelsea final will be awesome.just sad we would have won 3-1 .. second leg is our just we have to believe don't be scared ..all media still supporting real Madrid ..and their fans also.. Chelsea really was outstanding tonight just some times lack precision but we can win champion league
There was time when we play like current mancity in PL with easy 3-0 wins week in week out. not surprise some times even score more than 4. You gonna see that again in 2-3 years time after all the current young guys mature enough and fully understand each other
Real Madrid was benifiting from this kind of closed match. Because Madrid side are better in free-kicks or corners. In the 2nd game, with Mendy and Valverde. Madrid will play 4-3-3, having more possession for sure
that would be a biggest mistake from zidane that would rather give chelsea more space to utilize he learnt that’s why he change the formation to counter chelsea if he make mistakes to place 433 he would concede more goals
@@amocoertez5485 the reason to put 3-5-2 was lack of energy. Marcelo can't run like Mendy, Modric can't run like Valverde. So my point of view is that next week Real Madrid will give more speed, more diverse than yesterday. Because last evening we saw that Chelsea are basically faster, faster in any position. Probably Marcelo and Carvajal today did their job. Real's mission was not to loose the game. So in the 2nd leg, anything can happen, mostly it'll depend on managers decisions. Surely both teams are going to do changes.
@@clipsforyou-tube4861 yh anything can happen but i would be surprise for him to change the formation upon what he saw today even if mendy and valverde come same formation he would play if u change they u going to give more space to werner pulisic and mount u know they are dangerous with three ball he won’t dare do that am telling u give space ur players would get more cards and unfortunately some could be send off he won’t dare do that
Tuchel: "I knew they had used the 5-3-2 before, but we prepared for the game thinking they'd play 4-3-3, which is what they had done the most," Tuchel said. "But they changed the system and when I saw their team before the game, I had a quick talk to adapt and to change some things in defence." u listened to the coach he prepared for 433 from madrid would have bn messy if zidane played that am telling you
As a Real Madrid fan, I must say Chelsea played really well but they wasted many chances. We were poor in the first half but did better in the second half. We really missed Ramos and Ferland in defence. However, Happy to have Ramos, Valverde and Mendy back so Second leg could be good. Honestly, our midfield of Kroos and Modric we're really tired because of the discomforts they had recently and we're still recovering which made them press inefficiently. Chelseas defence is on point but I really think Real Madrid will put up a Good performance and Go through.
I really think zidane should use his 4-1-2-3 with mendy coming in as left wing in more attacking way and if possible ramos in his actual CB position with carvajal and varane as the 4 back defence in midfield i will choose valverde for CDM or as a back regista with kroos and isco upfront creating attaching chances and in front-3 will definately go for vincius-benzema-asensio this will be better as asensio is more comfortable in attaching half and can create more cross over attaching cutting and coming from the wing so it be like 4-2-3-
Although doesnt have star player like Neymar or Mbappe, this Chelsea team is far interesting puzzle than PSG team he has last season. Pulisic, Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, and Mount could be placed anywhere depend of the strategy and how Tuchel approach it. And Chelsea defence suddenly become compact and more solid since Tuchel lead them.
I think Chelsea missed their chance to go ahead, Real Madrid will have Mendy, Valverde and Ramos back for the second leg, and a more rested Kroos and Modric (both were carrying injuries this game that's why they lacked intensity), and a Hazard and Carvajal with some more game time after being out for most of the season.
@@africacorporatetrends1 Don't underestimate Real Madrid, the game ended with a tie with Real Madrid not being at their full strength, the second leg will be close, but I would bet on Real Madrid going through.
Chelsea were far superior and played beyond the expectations of many but they were not clinical in front of goal. If they can improve their efficiency up front, they will dispatch Madrid with ease. Though their home record hasn't been outstanding under Tuchel, I still look forward to an impressive encounter at Stamford Bridge.
I think Zidane's plan failed because he choose to place carvajal and Marcelo as wingback. They are 33-34 years old players and its hard for them to run up and down to attack and to defend. Chelsea has the fastest players maybe and they "kill" Zidane's defending plan. In the attacking situations real made some shots but they didn't made the difference. Tuchel Reed The game as best he could. I think that in the second leg Chelsea will easily qualify to Istanbul
Valverde pace and energy will counteract Kante. Mendy will bother azpillicueta. Chelseas lack of goals scoring will be their downfall. The fact we scored from 1 chance, shows that Chelsea will be on the back foot. RM can play out of pressure. Atalanta and Liverpool are attacking teams, that we disposed off.
Tuchel has got us playing world class football, if only Werner wasnr the worst finisher ever . I still cant believe we didnt win this match, but we go again on Tuesday!
@@RasenRendanX they were struggling because they only played two on top. For the next game they will probably add three on top with Mendy back and Valverde who will provide more energy on top.
