Awesome vid. Great work! This guide worked well. Different team load out on the battle for me but similar strats. Couple of little things I found to reduce the brain pain on the death March. 1. Set Denam to no weapons but max armour and then “distant striker” AI and he should just keep himself out of danger but tank well enough to not cause problems. Less button pushes, more time watching TV/listening to podcast. 2. (This could be just me but…) Battle at Phidoch. I found Almorica enemies take 2 hits to down a cleric. The golems and archers 1 shot them more consistently. Saves seconds but adds up.
Took me 27 death marches at Phidoch following your suggestions above. 1.5 - 2 hours total. Galgastan's must've hated me, man. Haha. Finished the session getting Cressida though! Thank you Titanium and Mark. :D
Coming back a year later to watch these videos again. I went super hard on the game for several months and then fell off in the 70 range of Palace of the Dead. I'm trying to get myself back into the head space of the game and your videos are helping. If I have to watch the whole play list to get there, so be it!
I just unlocked this quest last night and was doing some research on it. I got up today and searched YT and found that you literally just posted a video on it! I found a quick guide online that said they weren't sure if training battles counted. I'm happy to learn that they do as it will make this a bit faster than using the woods. Great stuff, congrats on 5k subs and keep up the Tactics Ogre content!
Dude I unlocked the battle, spent two hours beating it and saving Cress.... only for her to tell me to fuck myself. Funny how this video comes out literally hours later to help me get her! (No, I didn't save after she turned me down!)
Thanks for the guides! I appreciate the help. I never played any of the previous TO games but I loved FFT WotL, so this has been really scratching that itch for me. Started out going in blind but quickly learned there’s a whole bunch of nuanced stuff I could easily miss out on. So I appreciate how you keep spoilers to a minimum and just get the steps laid out clearly. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!
@@TitaniumLegman Thanks man! But also, as much as I love spoiler free/light stuff early on, as I get into it I realize I’m probably the minority, so I hope you go back and do some real in-depth spoiler heavy stuff too! Your guides rock!
Great guide, I followed it and it worked for me. My death march took a lot longer than it should have though....I did 78 battles and my units' loyalty wasn't increasing. I watched the death march section again and learned you had to recruit a NEW unit and check THEIR loyalty. When I did I found out the loyalty was maxed, lol!
I had no idea about the Chaos Frame, and now I see why Cressida didn't join my party even after picking the right answer after the battle. I have no choice but to try to get her later now, or just forget about her altogether.
She is QUITE strong, and as such worth picking up. The thing to keep in mind is that the WORLD system will allow you to go back to just before you recruited her and get her. Not too bad at all.
@@TitaniumLegman I guess she is worth it, huh... well, I want to see if I get Ozma and Azelstan (got all the others I needed), and I'll work on getting Cressida later maybe.
Well you are officially on the first page of search results, not only on the first page but the first result when searching “tactics ogre reborn recruiting Cressida”! I’m happy to see that as I’ve been watching since getting 2k subs was the goal. Hopefully that count just goes higher and higher.
First playthrough in Chaos Route wasn't able to recruit Cressida but gonna try again in post-game. Many thanks for the guide and hopefully we would see a video of the next best girl *Ravness*
Thank you for the complete and very clear explanation (and for speaking slowly enough to follow!). Yours is the first guide on this that I truly understood. I wish I had seen it first!
I was reading 11 year old gamefaqs info and was like man this is so convoluted but after watching your 21 minute video it all makes sense because the gamefaqs person was saying recruit only 10 galgastan people and have 2 strong people incap them and then retreat and now I know you can just have 12 galgastan auto die and repeat until you good
No problem chief! It's the type of content I remember looking for back in the day, so I want to put out stuff that I would have watched/read back then. Glad it comes across well. :D
Thanks man. His guide helps a loooooooot especially te chaos frame part. That part was veeeey vague to me cause it doesn't explain anything at all in the game guide. I manage to recruit her and quite tempting to turn her into a lich.
Hey tom. you taking vid requests? if yes, here;s what i'd be interested in: 1. loadouts/equips for good early chapter classes (ch 1-2) talking about any skill/equip synergies as well as combat role (tank, healer/support, striker, blaster, controller) 2. talking about classes that work well together and which skills synergize well. this could eventually lead to a discussion of effective or fun team compositions. 3. class tiering. this could be a series where you focus on generics, then uniques, then demi-humans then monsters.
I killed her in Chapter 3. She looked unique and recruitable so i thought she would join automatically but she dead. Welp thats what u get for going in blind. Its actually quite fun figuring stuff out, i used minimal stuff online like a stat growth chart to make sure Denam is leveled how I want him to be or where i can rectuit beasts and what not
I would recommend for those who don't want to grind, to just make the right choices through the story. The death march grind can become a slog, whereas the choices and avoiding killing any Galgastan random soldiers you see, your chaos frame will be high enough by that alone. Either do that from the beginning of the game, or world back after you beat it once and do it.
I just subscribed! My guess as to the jump in subscribers you mentioned could be people buying the game with Steam gift cards they just received. I love your channel, you do some great "Tactics Ogre Reborn" content.
i been strugling here.. damn dunno if there is frame point.. i'm playing this game without guide.. then i go to hard battle to save cressida.. a lot of defeated because she gone and try to restart my game and after win so many times she still not joining my party :) then i see your video.. going to do death march now and try to recruit cressida again later.. :) Subbed ur channel :)
I've done the battle in Golyat where I save Cressida and defeat Nybeth three times and Cressida wont join me. The first time my Chaos Frame was outta whack and Cressida said "How can I join you when you slaughter my people". The second time after doing the death march she refused to join saying "How can I join you, the killer of my mother and sister". Am I supposed to let Cressida's mother and sister live through the golyat battle?
That's.... Very odd Mark. It sounds like your CF still isn't high enough, as that's the only join condition. You can kill her zombified family in the battle (indeed you actually HAVE to) so that's the only factor that should be at play.
The list of sayings for the characters loyalty at 13:35 doesn't include what mine say.. mine shows "This unit does not open its mouth but to complain". I started the death march but do you have an idea how far behind I am? 😅
You're looking at a Chaotic unit then. I'd recommend hiring Lawful units to stay consistent with the guide, but that message puts you in the 21-30 range. Sooooo pretty far back.
Awesome guide. a couple of clarifications on the death march as i'm on the cressida recruit trail right now (well rudlum, deneb and azelstan too. chapter 4 throws a bunch of sidequests your way early). 1. Can i just win that training match or do i have to retreat? i do like that my warren report shows the same number of battles and victories. 2. since i'm doing a no incap run, i'm taking the longer route for CF grinding. i'm thinking of recruiting a bunch of undead galgastani in phorempa wood. once i have about 10-12 on the roster i start the death march: a. do undead dying earn as much CF as living ones do? b. how much CF is earned per death per unit? Is it the same as a live unit? c. do they have to be totally naked or can i at least give them weapons so i can slowly win the fight? 3. do you think a team of 12 naked but with weapon galgastani zombies can actually win the fight so i dont have to bring Denam? assuming left on auto. 4. Or if i dont bother going with undead, does incaps in training count? It seems tedious for me to recruit 10-12 undead galgastani as field of shore is very far from the opening of phorampa. I may just do the normal death march as you described if the incaps there dont count in the warren report and just take the retreat.
1. You can win, but it will take longer for sure. 2a. AFAIK there should be no difference between undead and living units and chaos frame. Since Undead don't count as Incapped tho I'd be worried that you may not GET cf from them going down, tho I have not tested that. 2b. I got about 1.5 CF per run with 11 galgastani units. My best guess would be 0.1 to 0.2 per unit per incap. 2c. They can have whatever gear you want. I just unequip all gear to make the I caps faster. 3. They COULD win so long as they don't all go down at once, which will force a retreat. 4. Iirc training battles DO count for incaps, but my memory also isn't the best. I would make a save and test it to be safe, as it could save you some time.
@@TitaniumLegman just tested with 11 level 1 enchantress in shops. The retreats count. Incaps dont count. They just disappear from the field. And yes they earned CF. i moved from them not liking me to "more often than not, they speak in support of my decisions". So my guess is i just hit 41. Safe to say i do this 10 more times with 11 units to hit 50+? If i just use 12 units, what happens once they all die before i get to retreat manually? Do they still earn CF?
ah, not sure if it's just on my end, but not seeing the chapters for the video despite numerous refreshes; also curious, but if you recruit galgistani zombies, do those also get you the CF you need for Cressida everytime they get downed after rising from stilled?
Update: took a FEW runs but I finally recruited her yesterday! Thanks for the guide it totally helped! By chance do you have a walk through for Diego? I can't get figure out how to get the pirates graveyard to pop up!
Bro, wanna ask about CF.. i hire 3 unit galgastan but they all have 3 different description,, should i do death march until all new hired unit have same desc?
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My CF is in the top bracket, and I did the "You will not be judged by me" and she still didn't join. Idk what to do.
I recruited two galgastan after death March. One has higher response and one has a lower. You think I'm good to go for Cressida now or should I keep death marching?
@@TitaniumLegman yes. I followed your advice. Then I reloaded the save. Recruited one and they gave the high loyalty response. Then reloaded and recruited again and they gave the lower loyalty response . . . So then I just death marched 8 more training battles. Recruited and reloaded data, got the right response 4 times in a row.
@@mannyfresh4622 interesting. My assumption is that there's a slight amount of variance in reputation on recruitment. So you were probably right on the line until you did a few more marches, at which point you were high enough that you stayed in the correct bracket even with variance.
@@TitaniumLegman that makes sense! I didn't want to go through to the battle with any doubt. I remember this being a tough one when I played on PSP. Got it last night on the first try. Wasn't as difficult as I remember, my Denam is a ninja so he has a lot of move, gave him the quickness boon and had Canopus fly in with a hallowing stone. Cressida is mine! Thank you for the video! You broke it down easy for me
Got their eventually. The only thing I could think of was I was hiring recruits every other battle when I was close to the goal and dismissing them right after I read their statement. Maybe that lowered it idk 🤷♂️
Does the chaos frame must be 50?? that's a LOT of training in pheroma. Im at 30. Does it counts if i take a mage within the battle an aoe my own units to dead to make it faster?
@@TitaniumLegman ok.. one more thing. In order to make use of the wheel of fortune and go back to "the present time" with cressida, i would have to go back to anchor point and play through untill i finish that chapter im in?
hi ! im confuse. i recruited 11 galgastani . after looking at their status. im seeing some are between 31-40 and some are 41-50. and 1 cleric is 61-80 . what does it mean ?
@@jinell14 so, another commentor i was speaking with was having the same issue. They resolved it by doing a few more fights, and their recruits then all were at the proper chaos frame level. My assumption is that there's still some variance in reputation when you recruit a new unit, so if you're right on the edge of a new tier, that variance will sometimes push you below it. I'd do a few more marches and see if that helps, that's what this other commentor did and it worked for them.
@@TitaniumLegman i see. one last clarification. you said i can march in training mode. but my number of incapitated army does not go up. is that okay ? thank you so much for the tutorial btw so detailed !!
@@jinell14 incapacitations in the warren report have no bearing on if your chaos frame goes up. If you're going for a no incap run tho, I am unsure of how training battles interact with that. So proceed with caution
TECHNICALLY no, as you can recruit a generic necromancer in the Law route. However, having Cressida will make the DK process FAR easier to manage, yes.
@@TitaniumLegman if im not mistaken, in ps1 version his daughter was a Priest with pale skin. she was used as her father experiment. if im not mistaken... but why she is re-created as a Necromancer? gosh... she must be strong, since her sprite is a new one i think!
@@drwps. Nybeth's family got greatly expanded. The daughter you're thinking of may be Oelias, she's still in the game (and in fact is the priest you rescue in the first battle in this guide!)
@@TitaniumLegman oh my god. his bloodline had been expanded? who the f told that this game is just a boring remake. THIS IS SO GREAT TO HEAR! 😫 i really have to buy Switch someday... based on my opinion, Nybbas was one of the most interesting villains in Tactics Ogre ps1 version (thats what i ever saw long time ago from ppl comments in Tactics Ogre forum). since he is the first villain with an unique class (i think the second was The Poisoner, Falfadet), plus there is a chance to get a stone which is required to be a Lich, his intention is just weird. and i think they wont change his story in Reborn. he just goes out for his own idea. searching the dark side of the land, looking for another great power beside what the Dark Knights were looking for. so weird... too bad in ps1 version his story wasnt that long to tell. even though we have to run through Hell Gate twice just to kill him... such a badass.
