@@Zeon081 Some are stupidly hard, like the fight with Oz and Ozma. They are all higher level than you, and tend to one shot whomever they hit. That one gave me alot of trouble, but most stages arent so bad. What gave me the most grief was- Protecting NPCs. They are still morons. Oz and Ozma. One-hit-wonders Saving Cressida, only to have her tell you to take a hike. Speaking of, there is an EASY way I found to get her. A tweak on the old "Death March" from the PSP. Thanks to the money cheat Coffee came up with, if you buy 300 blessing stones, put them on all the slots for 7 level 1 galgastani recruits, and do the death march until you get the message "You cannot restock" you will max out your rep with them in around 15-20 minutes. This means you can get her and still get the princess on your first run, before even taking the northern push.
Best TO:R content out there! So glad to see you jumping into the fray for the THIRD remake of this amazing game. Your OV guides are phenomenal. Def got a sub from me and excited to see what you put out next. Fingers crossed for some updated thoughts on classes, finishers, and beast units (would love to hear your musings on whether the lich is worth it or still a "barely mobile cheeseburger" this go around).
To be fair, my face on doing a Rune Fencer SCC of PSP and I go into Barnicia 2 only to see them rocking Dragonscale. Beating that fight with just Scorpion+1 poison was...not fast.
The only gripes (so far) in regards to recruitment is the fact that Cressida still needs "Death March" lmao. Not really a bad thing, just that a minor inconvenience to time really.
Man can u post us how to increase the chaos frame more easily or less painfully pls? Tks for all and it is so nice seeing your enthusiasm over and over . Live the game too!!!!
Could you do a video explaining the elements? You know, who's weak to what. And the items to change a character's element. Assume I've never played the game. Because I haven't past the tarot intro, in the newest version, because I'm getting a Steam Deck first. In the meantime, I'd love to study the minutia through the eyes of a pro. Really, what's the point of the Earth alignment if all it does is die so hard to you all the time? I like Bertha, as she used to be called. (But Gurza is best gril.)
I suppose I could! Every element is more or less equal, earth is just there for a lot of early bosses to give Canopus his PSP feel, I think. I could do that on Monday, though.
Wonder if you like this idea: Make a relatively short video showcasing fun build combos and interactions (anything silly you can come up with), mby with short clips of them working. Just crack a few bones, chill vid made for fun and enjoyment of the game. Simple explanations with a little bit of humor, no technical shenanigans, lets just enjoy this gem!
Is there any efficient means to lower chaos frame? I’ve heard high chaos frame can nuke unit loyalty if you end up killing units from high chaos frame nations.
Technically, yes, but that's like creating the problem to solve the problem that you're creating. You previously could accidentally nuke CF, which is used for some story checks, by grinding on the same race units. So a Galgistani team member killing a Galgistani deserter would make the Galgistani hate you a tiny bit more, for example. Largely this caused folks to miss out on Cressida, whose CF requirement was just barely under what you would have story wise in most cases...so those long grind sessions would make her leave instead. Since you don't train on randos on the roads this time, it's down to story choices for the most part.
What's the better way of raising your Galgastani chaos frame for a Chaos playthrough? Would you recommend hiring a bunch of Galgastani and having them kill themselves in training, or would power leveling them up to 50 be the better solution?
Wait, do we lose the drops from bags on the floor if we don't get those before the battle ends? I thought that those bags contents were added on the loot after the battle ends.
@@dacensetu568 if you kill the stealing units they drop it again, but if there's a boss that makes all units disappear upon death and the thief enemy isn't dead, your loot is lost.
I’d rather not genocide for a greater cause, so I go for (lawful neutral) -> law -> chaos. It’s also easier to deal with the super drop in loyalty at the start of neutral
I absolutely hate the green card loot table, fucking useless trash mechanic that absolutely killed my enjoyment in farming the end game content. If they ever remake FFT, I hope this garbage feature doesn't make it in.
BTW your "Beginner's Guide to Tactics Ogre Reborn" video is very close to becomming your most viewed in your channel, so congratulations on that achievement!
Thank You, I'm shocked it's done as well as it has! Hopefully tomorrow's Build Guide helps folks out, making a good newbie guide has kind of been my mental content quagmire. It's weird to shift gears into that. Getting a little closer each time.
To get sherri, I made it rain crazy hard by using 2 horns on training and it worked, because your going to have to move over and back to Balmusa so it makes it so that the rain has to "die down" a level. Got her on the first try doing this. Youll notice that the rain can upgrade to "storming" when you use a second savage horn.
Was going to comment this, when I trained at Balmamusa it was raining but not raining hard and Sherri wouldn't spawn. I went back to train mode used a Horn of the Savage and the rain became heavy,. Left came back and Sherri was there. The old PSP triggers are the same from what I can tell, but it has to be a heavy rain, not just rain.
@@blitzdotexe2527 Yeah you can get lucky like that, with one. But I think the problem many have getting her is that the rain ends when they move and pass a day. So if its "Storming" it will die down to "raining" for sure when you move the spaces.
I just managed to trigger her in firescale. Didn't do any training, but I did kind of mash on the storm horn in the inventory... Wonder if I was just lucky.

Oh lord I am slowly progressing in this game. I just finished the Leonar fight and so far I am curious how post-game is now everything is more streamlined. BTW, any chance you can cover healers and why they seem to be so underpowered this time around? I converted my cleric to a lob items back in the PSP but now they seem less useful due to the limited item slots. I am curious how you utilised healers. Oh and due to one of your videos using Donaltto as a terror knight, I actually converted him in my reborn save to a rune fencer that focuses on instill light. Since he wants vengeance then I am roleplaying him as a holy knight donalto in a deus vult mood.
Can do! Sounds like a fun build, and on healers, Faeriescale Powder with taking quick turns to charge up seems to do the trick most of the time. Usually it's best to have them functioning in teams to account for various factors. I like running them in duos with Caldias and buff items, giving them things to do if their MP game isn't on point that moment.
@@CoffeePotato I never really considered a team of healers. I will look into that. I loved your idea of long range and short range close quarter archers. Also please do more of your long videos like probably revisiting something like the ones you did discussing all the mechanics and whatnot on reborn but this time around you go all in since you aint hindered by the limit not to discuss anything past chapter 1. Also hopefully you will also do more comparisons between reborn and the psp version once you progress even deeper into the post-game of reborn. I am really enjoying your videos and I have been binging some of your old non-reborn stuff. It make me realise that I never really played the PSP version that much seeing the plethora of stuff you covered that I didnt know about.
@@douglasfuciji2002 after her fight, go to phidoch for the event there, then back to balmamusa for training, make it rain with item, leave training and move of balmamusa and back so no fight after hers before getting her
Can confirm Sherri should be the same. I followed the PSP guide to get her. Just went into a training fight, used 3 horns (made sure it was storming), went to Balmamusa, and got her.
You need to complete the Gun Shipment sidequest, then read about the bandits in the forts...then clear the forts, then read about the Apocrypha, visit the Pope in the left center castle, then clear all of the temple dungeons...before finally getting them from the boss of the 6th temple. They're good hitters, they read the map elemental affinity for data collection reasons, and they can Instill nearby units.
On the topic of drops - I think it was the Heim fight there's a bonus objective to bring The Priest Class and it awards a Heretics Mark. Thought that was really neat. And I found 2 Princess Marks in the Temples while I was on the Lord Path. I'm at Hanging Gardens and descending PotD. Currently at Floor 51. Other than craft books, no unique gear. Just relics. But I'm also doing no chariot/retreat until after my first completion.
Unfortunately it looks like the chariot title has been taken out or gated behind CODA. I've run through all 3 routes just in case and no luck. Death and incap is still in though.
Any luck with ring of the dead drops? I've found a few relics, and a bunch of craft books. The craft books were all in the first 25 floors, mostly above 12 if i recall. I just finished floor 41, but no ring drops for me yet. I spent a little time grinding floor 33 with chariot to see if the Cenobite still drops a ring, either no luck or it's changed since PSP. Heim objectives were based on which path you took. One was a priest mark for bringing a princess, one was a dark priest mark for bringing a priest, and the third was a princess mark for bringing a dark priest, or some other permutation of those. Heim is also the first dark charm that's available (at least on full chaos route, excluding potd of course)
@@logancrone4916 i got 1 somewhere in the late 40s or early 50s. There's tons of relics down there, though. But there's more in San Bronsa, but that place is cancer. Enemies lvl 58+, bosses 60+, death ledges everywhere, all units have tier 4 spells but still hit like trucks with swords, any non-standard class (which is pretty much all of them) are hard to inflict any kind of status on, and the AI goes out of its way to knock your units off the ledges. Combine that with very little room to move around and it becomes the worst place ever. Can confirm Zepherous lance is still in there. The addition of ALL attacks and spells to knockback made this place an absolute nightmare. Currently on Floating 13, so close to done but it has stressed me out. And you'll need to come back to farm. Bonus objectives in San Bronsa are No Incap is Daedalus Rack or Pinion, they alternate per floor , and No Chariot is Orichalcum
I really like your videos but can you also upload a faq/guide on gamefaqs? I know it’s a thankless job but written out faqs really help Edit: I should say more on the changes from psp to reborn. I found the skills an adjustment
here is an idea for a soft lock. pacifist run where you kick a character out of the party if they kill anyone and you can not hire units from shops. obviously no chariot.
Question. Its normal the range or the space you use to kill a enemy his drop its change randomly? I see in one position they release me a green card of Agility and with other space or character he drop me a LUCK card and same is with the drop bag.
Phidoch Castle in 3L is nearly impossible to do with no incapacitates. Otherwise the difficulty so far feels fair and you can figure stuff out, but random crits and unfortunate card spawns in the enemy's favor just before their turn are incredibly stressful.
Two Beast Tamers with Weaken, Breach and Spoilspell Items. Make Denam into a Berserker, make Ravness a White Knight and always use your White Knights. 2H Hammer on Denam, White Knights and Beast Tamers. Crush your enemies.
That setup works, and also you can remove that stress with Brands of the Sacrifice, Echo Stones, and Tamers. Thrown debuffs can't be resisted, and absolutely ruin anything they touch.
Hey Coffee Potato! :) Love your content. I'm sure you have been asked this a bunch of times: If you had to choose between just one, would you play Reborn or One Vision?
to recruit Sheryl you can do one training sesión in balmamusa, BTW best location to train troops and gain levels as floor is even and enemies are just next to you; you have to call a storm, with the horn item, but it can't be a light rain, that won't do, has to be a moderate to a down pour, so bring more than one of those horns and be sure to use it at the end of the training. then go to the moors and back to balmamusa to trigger the event.
Just picked up the second tier Apocrypha spells, they are much better than the tier 1. Sherri, lvl 45 with earth robe/wand mage gloves pants/etc, with nature's focus procced hit for 600-750 on a large group. fully decked out shaman are slowly becoming the power houses of my team. tempted to make deneb a shaman for summons, but losing access to dark magic is kinda...well maybe not EDIT: Random thought: been running with the two Xenobian White Knights as my frontline guys and damn are they good. Respectable melee damage, auto velocity shift, heals and paralysis blade makes them power houses.
Did you do an entire run, Palace of the Dead and some post game staff in just 100 hours ;_;? That's incredible... And what's incredible is how much strong they can be the arciers... without your details video many friends of mine in a forum continue to say that arciers are so weak that they needs just mages ._. so..thank you for your head full of information and experiments.
That's why we do both! HD UI Pack on OV on a phone or pocket emulator on the go, Reborn at home, Bam. I'd love to see the two merge someday, but that's quite the undertaking.
Happened to me once, and from what I remember, you don't get the loot. Unless I'm remembering wrongly that is. But the logic is sound though: enemy get your loot > kill them > loot drop + old loot. Enemy got loot > you recruit the enemy > no loot drop.
I wonder what's the max stats we can get? Btw how does luck work in this game? I remember in ps1 version it's better not to max luck, you will get more stat card drop.
I thought they switched to Biorythm? PS1 era was way too easy to break stat growths with things like Necro and Retissiue, or make a Snapdragon weapon that was way overpowered.
The Viraat's thundercoat still have the wrong text on it. since it still says earth, i don't remember where it drops through. it's the light armor sets that have the elemental gaurds. i don't think they left it in for a joke, i they just got lazy with it and didn't care enough or plain forgot about it.
@CoffeePotato for completionists not using chariot for various milestones. Was the biggest one I think. Thanks for the content. I need to find some time to start the dang game
Absolutely love this game. Very addictive. However i don't understand the obsessive level restrictions even after world travel back to missions you have not completed , you are forced to level sync....Also , why hide half your game under unbelievably convoluted pathways...its like selling half your product. Strange choices from the developers. Still love it thought
Same as with Elder Scrolls games having a main plot that's 10% of their content, just gives more to come back for. Level sync is more of a presentation thing, you're effectively equal to or higher than those units stays wise based on passive gains you've made along the way. Not to even mention the gains from gear that individually could be worth 10-20 levels' worth of stats by themselves. The biggest jumps level wise come from skill unlocks, which mostly end at 40, and completely end at 50. It is fun to say that every enemy in Coda 4 comes with a 20 level and 13 unit advantage, though.
I just hit chapter 3. Actually won a battle under leveled by 3 yesterday and it felt great. I was not expecting this game to be massively overhauled in every way that makes the game shine. Nostalgia aside, this is the best SRPG I ever played. AND I recruited a Dragon. Question: is it worth it to give mages two one handed staves?
Depends of the stats of the staves I guess ! And if you use it to physicaly hit with it ? I didn't use it like that but you can have the finishing moves with your caster classes as well.
@@TheCmurley131 Honestly, I restarted the game entirely so I'm back at chapter 2 beginning. It was because I wasted money on the "strong gear" before I understood that archers and warriors can guarantee status effects. I'm really fine tuning each piece of equipment for every unit now based more on the stat bonuses and effects of particular equipment. I will use the Caldia for sure, but if you dual wield the first one handed cudgel asap (when they are first available), it's not gonna rock your world, but the extra points to MIND and INT actually help in a nice way. I run two wizard/enchantress every battle. I like having two indirect spell casters around. Statuses are super good, until you miss three 60% rolls in a row, so I like to have a more reliable option on hand for emergencies (trying for zero incaps).
Is there a tldw version of this video? I don’t have the mental energy to watch an hour of my dude rambling about random stuff and going into tangents. I’m reading the transcript to get to the info sooner but even the transcript has lots of filler words Anyway, Thanks for sharing
Hah! Fair point. Let's see.... MP leaves are only ground pickups this time, Fruits of the Adept are cheap and available. POTD drops are way more random. Confirmation that drops are definitely stealable still, but you can steal them back. Lots of crafting books found next to each other in POTD. More, but I gotta go make breakfast.
Hey I'm in the coda squad is lv 45 but no new weapons armour or recipe for crafting new items in the shop where do I find this? I also haven't seen any relics yet anywhere. Any help is appreciated
There’s a very easy way to prepare for postgame. Go into palace if the dead at Lv 36 and recruit enemies that are Lv 40+ then take them to Phorampa and the enemies will be scaled to the highest Lv characters in your attack party. You can even pick and choose what enemies to take on by taking and removing the highest Lv character and scouting. I did that when I was hunting for better gear to go deeper into PotD without too much of a struggle. I grabbed a Lv 40 ghost 👻 and took him into battle and got all the high gear drops or recruited for the gear then let them go. Enemies will scale to Lv and their gear will also change to higher tier. You’re welcome in advance.
Fun fact: Corne licorne is just the words "unicorn horn" in French. A lot of naming conventions in this game and final fantasy are just French words lmao. Hache is another example. It literally just means axe. Oh and ALL arcana grimoires items are french names in the psp version
Yeah, it's why I love that the exorcism is basically just french mineral water with a fancy label 🤣. Vicar Max hates this game. I'll always love the messed up garble that the spear was called in PSP and OB64, though. In SNES it was just "Unicorn"...which it clearly wasn't. I tried using it as a ride, and it wasn't majestic at all.
Ah man, that makes me scared to do my original plan. I wanted to get the title for letting Catiua die after recruiting her but ALSO wanted the title for no deaths in my first run, so I have ignored her since saving her life and plan on WORLDing back to kill her after beating the game. But from the sound if it that will unlock "hard mode". A bit worried about that plan now but don't really wanna miss out on the kill Catiua title. I got Sherri immediately by casting 3 Horns on training in the nearest city. There are various severities of rain and each use made it rain harder and harder (each with a different icon; rain was an umbrella, hard rain was an umbrella with raindrops, super hard rain was an umbrella being blown away)
@@CoffeePotato Ah, sorry to be unclear, I was referring to this Title: Ruler of Valeria: "Allowed Catiua to die before the final battle at the Royal City of Heim" Get Catiua killed after saving her. It actually requires her to die as a member of the party. Weird thing to get a Title for but okay lol Is it "using WORLD in any way automatically activates hard mode"? I was just planning on porting back after beating the final boss and getting her killed off rq, then porting back to the part of the story where she joins and get her to join again.
To be honest, I've tried. Following a script was never my strong suit, but there will be plenty more on specific mechanics. This was just a general post game chaos info dump.
Purify? Might be, hard to say considering it's still throwing back reworked versions of old mechanics into the post game. 10HP and 30% chance to cure poison is not currently on my team, though.
Helloo, Maybe you can, if the video is so long, add a few sections where you can find something, just don't know the right word for it :D You can see that in the timeline below and so on :o Great video thank you!
Cough... Gear tier list cough ;x oh you can give me the best tactics ogre reborn content to it's maximum potential and beyond. I rewatch your stuff to always catch the in-between details very valuable info man. So maybe a best setups to each class djfjfijf I DREAM OF MORE. Lol
Omg the fruit of the adept tip is HUGE. MP items are incredibly op in Reborn with finishers being tied to mp. EDIT: also, your assumptions about Aquaveil are actually incorrect! Aquaveil DOES stay on as long as you don't use it, but attacking normally or throwing a boulder use it up. I've had Octopi just chilling wating for their MP to go up to use Poison Rain while Aquaveil is up.
Uhh, so if you world back to chapter 1 you still retain your level? i remember on psp version where i world back the enemies has hi tier equipments and skill which really wrecked my party with summon lvl 2 or cure 4 =/
@@Nykyzynho I cannot, technically. You can find it on the Newgameplus website. It's a subsection of their Discord. No idea why you cant send direct links.
Just found this channel a couple days ago. Love the depth of content that you go into; subscribed! Do you happen to have a video where you cover how / where to gather relics?
I have a really long one coming soon about exploring the POTD, if that'll help. Honestly I usually just dive into the end game areas, clear maps as fast as possible, and hope the shiny squares fall out 😂.
I have a question. Is the special item drop still super random and hard to get? I remember in the psp version I could reload the fight like 20 times and tried different actions until they drop what I needed. Is it still like that? That's the one thing they really needed to fix. The drop chance of rares
when I beat it for the first time it reminded me of beating monster hunter for the first time, after the credits are done there is still a LOT to do. dude I love this game now.
Was wondering if i could get your opinion about some end game stuff. Is it more fun to use world to go back or start fresh and build a different denam. What do you actually keep with you when you go back? Was only planning on one playthrough and was more interested in the law route. But everything ive red suggests full clearing chaos path for lord then neutral then ending with law. Would love any insight on this.
Depends on what you're going for. Challenge runs are best to start fresh, but going back with your original team is fun for that full experience. There's also 4 post game chapters and a ton of side areas that change over time. You keep separate timelines, every time you move to a new Jump Point, you create a bubble with what you did for that time period. You can always warp back to your original world state, but, for example, beating the game a second time will update your original Coda world state to the new timeline. Completing everything before it and jumping forward would still keep the original timeline. You can have tons of time paradoxes going on with multiple different timelines, but the only thing that will ever make you lose anything meaningful is if Catiua is dead in the story. She's required for Coda 3-4.
You can craft mp leaves of various types. Was sad realizing I missed ravness on law route. But will have to re run it at least once more to get the variations. Some of the recruits of people are complicated. Idk about this version yet, but finding enemies with wyrm scale was pretty common at like 35+ in random fights in psp. Is that no incapacitations no one being knocked down or no one hitting 0? Isn't the breakout from most soft locks the infinite goth from crafting baldur blowguns?
@@omensoffate Missed the base leaf not being on the list. Never needed MP so I sold all my leaves. MP regen has always been high enough that running out of mana on my units hasn't been an issue past the first round or two.
@@omensoffate not sure why, mp Regen skills covers nearly every situation. For the ones it doesn't lacking mp isn't really an issue. At worse a skill card or two, which are super plentiful, will fix it. Maybe an mp recharge card. The rt of using them makes them less useful.
I'm doing the same - you're supposed to look for a rune fencer and kill them for chance of getting in the loot bag but that was the PSP version. I'm trying to figure out if Enchiridions still drop the same way
@@loudog95 i'm union level 32 now and still, it does not drop from the rune fencer. i've skip this and tried to farm the other enchiridion in the wildwood, and still, no drops. i don't know if there's a new loot table for this. but spamming the tarot does not help me. hahahaha
@@kevinconsolacion1663 yeah I’ve tried rewinding as well with rng manipulation. I’ve read on 1 or 2 gamefaq forums that they’re dropped in shrine battles and in the palace of the dead. (Reborn version) Currently making my way so said content (I’m going around doing the first fortress fights to unlock the shrines before a certain chapter 4 battle.) The way Coffee Potato said where he got his enchordions seemed off, but I guess it’s accurate in Reborn. The video, while packed with information is highly unorganized and it throws off the info he gives and makes it seem not so reliable. Anyways I’ll keep you/others in the comment chain updated (idk how RU-vid comments work). Good luck
Hit a brick wall...Boed Fortress Neutral route...how on earth do you do this? I've thrown a Griffin up to distract, the npc goes straight to the boss who isn't taking any damage even with breech... this game just doesn't feel balanced very well...
I used winged folk to go up and shield bashed her off the ledge back down to my team. The winged folk can also be good distraction to absorb some hits for her
what about uniques? you said you got every enchiridion in POTD, but is the information from the PSP game still relevant in this version? I mean which units drops which uniques and such.
So far as I can tell, Temple Bosses drop the full suite of crafting bosses of their zones guaranteed, while the POTD just has mountains of loot in the drop tables for the random units.
@@CoffeePotato so in POTD every monster has a chance of dropping a unique? In the PSP version you needed to re try a map till the specific monster spawns in the specific tile for a specific unique (for example Oracion sword), do you know if it’s the same in Reborn?
I've been wondering the same thing. Are things like Glamrock from Oz guaranteed drops now or random? That was the most painful thing in the psp version.
Because apparently I've missed a bunch of things. I've lost characters, equipment, etc. And depending on dialogue choices, you can lock yourself out of certain other things. Or if you progress too far in the story before doing things that aren't ever explained.
Honestly I would recommend not starting over! Part of the fun is missing on stuff, using generic enemies when you missed/killed recruitable characters, and you can always get more equipment through crafting or recruiting enemies. You can travel back in time once you beat the game and get characters you want! If you are trying to 100% get everything while playing blind you will be really frustrated ha. Either just play blind and have fun problem solving with what you have, or look up a guide if you are really going to be bugged by missing things.
Sounds like an Ogre game, then! Losing people, missing items, it's all normal. See your story through, you can always go back for anything later. That first scuffed save is always special to go back to.
