Jeunan is also required to recruit Occione, by completing a dialog.

You have to let the full dialog with denam and ravness play out in the last battle. I ended the fight mid convoy and had to restart because she couldn't recruit

3:30 in the battle at Baramusa just put Ravness to sleep with sleep spell is the easiest way to deal with her.

Thanks. Having used Juenan as a Dragoon spear user, I realised how his low movement makes his skills irrelevant because he just cannot reach the enemy. Crossbow build makes a lot of sense. Well done.

No problem, I hope he performs well for you!

Two handed crossbow works well late game with dragoon. The one you get in San bronsa has a beast attack modifier that is great to take out those L60 enemy only beasts (Phoenix, Rukh, etc) with thousands of HP.

I note you dont talk about the what I'll call the velocity shrift. I was unaware of the 4th WK but it will make this procing go crazy! You'll need all 3-4 WK fielded eating your melee slots up 😢, simply put your ranged DPS in between all 4 with them all within velocity shifting range of each other (a + formation) and if all proc you literally run the field at a whooping -105 to -140 turn rate simply allowing them to run 3,4,5 time with you mage DPS chucking spells like apocrapha and summons faster than a boss with 4 clerics can heal.

agreed that jeunan makes one of the better picks for a TK for a 1st run on law, at least for a short time. once you get hobyrim, then he should be the TK and jeunan can return to be a flex unit (dragoon). agreed as well that Ravness should be a WK. wouldn't say a WK is broken though. it's an enabler unit. it's as strong as what you surround it with. it's considered OP by most folks because summons are strong and that's what most people play with WKs. surround a WK with an all cleric team and it's nothing special. then compare by surrounding it with shamans and other casters. given that, what i'd say is broken is summons, not WK.

Hey, just a heads up, the -bane skills require melee. The -slayer skills work with both. The patch-before-last updated the tooltips to avoid confusion =] You may still want -bane skills to buff your melee allies, of course. Though for me, Dragon's Wound is perhaps the most important skill these days, as dragonscale is what slows me down or messes me up. It's funny, but 2H crossbow dragoons were extremely popular in LUCT, though -bane being melee-only has pushed them down a bit. That said, I think I've seen some great anti-beast crossbow relics dropping. And you could always get a cursed crossbow that's antidragon. Heck, an ice anti-beast crossbow would be amazing. I've also wondered if anyone has considered ogre blade-ing a dragoon's abilities onto a faerie beast tamer, just to toss repel beasts/repel dragons into the mix. Maybe that's overkill. In a Matsuno interview, he mentioned that Ravness was planned for the SNES version of Tactics Ogre, but they didn't have room for her. So Agrias is based on Ravness and not the other way around. It's funny that two of my favorite characters require Jeunan, as Ocionne's story is so linked with his that they have an ending together. I always go Chaos first, but Law has the best characters. One of these days, I should really start there.

I wasn't aware of that with the bane skills, I appreciate the heads up on that!

Was Ravness really planned that far back, and d’you know which interview it was he mentioned it? And did he say anything else about stuff he planned that was finally included in the PSP? Like, I heard that Cressida was originally meant as an alternate version of Oelias but I don’t have a source; I also have wondered about Ozma, as without her being recruitable it definitely feels like Hobyrim’s story wasn’t yet whole… I’m familiar with the 25th anniversary interview in 2020 interview, at least partially: there he talked a bit of how his opinions have been affected by recent events like BLM, Catiua’s characterisation, how Chapter 3 was meant to have a fourth variant (Lawful being initially Route A with its own branch, Chaos being dubbed Route C and either Neutral or the list one being Route B), and a lot of other stuff so forgot. I can definitely believe that putting as much as they managed on a SNES was hard enough, so even then the routes probably needed to lose some stuff. Of course, we’ll never know exactly what the game would have been if Matsuno wasn’t so restricted at the time. Oh well…

So would you say that Jeunan is… quite the Jeunit, then? ;-P Jokes aside, this is as in-depth as should be expected of your content. Hopefully this helps people figure out the specifics of getting Ravness especially (as some of those requirements and when they must be done IS quite obtuse). And good work explaining the kinds of builds this can give. Y’know something, if someone wants to try and get the most content from this game (including map branching), doing Lawful as your second or third route up until you get Ravness (and one of the branching battles at either Lake Boris or the Pjonji Weald), before then World Charioting so you have Ravness to start off a route could be fun… Now there’s an idea: do Neutral first for Myrdin, get Ravness and then World back to either redo this route from the start (to get both the Gatialo and Apollinaire fights) or Chaotic, and finish with your final route of choice. So many options, so little time… and so fun to think about, too. Having her and Myrdin when redoing Law Chapter 2 again (including Gatialo, and experimenting with both killing and not killing off Arycelle), or both of them on Chaos at any point while waiting for Gildas, gives me the warm fuzzies inside. Especially after looking over how the dialogue options we can get affects Chaos Frame (which makes me hesitant to do my original plan of killing Cistina in Chapter 1 to avoid Veldrei and reduce my kill count, as it’s going to hit the Bakram CF without saving her - as doing so nets 15 points), so I like having more thoughts to experiment with. Sorry, went off-track. Take care mate! :-)

I WOULD INDEED SAY THAT! And thank you for the thoughtful compliment Borjan. 😁 It's an interesting idea as well. Having Raveness from the jump would be a LOT of fun!

Happy as always to be contributing. ;-) BTW, there’s actually another fun thing most people don’t know of (and I was surprised when I found out): Xapan, if you saved him but declined his recruitment, can be encountered in Chapter 4 at Golyat as a boss. And you can STILL recruit him if you lower his health to critical without killing him… if you don’t have him in your party from a previous playthrough, he’s also got a unique axe (forget what it’s called and such, might have to look it up). All this as a heads-up so whenever you get into him you know the complete details.

Ravness is an all around powerful unit simply because she one of the lowest RT, losing out only to another law exclusive character this video isn't about- So she will excel in any and every class you put her in. As was already mentioned in the video, she is also one of the highly exclusive exclusive White Knights. Coupling her naturally low RT with the powerful Velocity Shift turns her into a potent front line support unit, speeding up everyone else's turn. This is very likely her best possible setup for your entire party. However, outside of the velocity shift support she only brings what myrdin and gildas already do- paralysis blade, OCCASIONAL finishers, and overall basic attack damage, even if she has access to an extremely powerful exclusive class. This class really just offers a faster than usual velocity shift, more or less. Which is undoubtedly very powerful... ...However, consider that Law gives you BOTH default white knights. Are you going to bring all 3? all as white knights? some will, others wont. So this support is either overkill, or it bumps one of the other 2 completely off the roster. SO, for the sake of discussion, let's say you want to use Ravness as one of your main bruisers. She also makes great use of classes like warrior or berserker for their mid/late game physical damage when you get her. Alternatively, you can continue to use her as a finishing spamming valkyrie, and transition into a late/end game caster with summons. Her lower RT lets her get more turns, thus more damage and chances to proc auto skills, such as vigorous attack, berserk, or meditate. She also makes a case for your best Knight or Terror Knight in the game. She will have nearly identical, if not actual identical gear/RT as being in white knight, but you trade velocity shift for a knight that actually gets turns, or the frightened support from fearful impact. I personally like the idea of the latter, because Terror Knight's main weakness is their staggeringly high RT, meaning that they often dont get enough turns to actually spread fear effectively, resulting in either not having enough fear, or burning a deploy slot on another terror knight. an extremely low RT mitigates this problem to a large extent.
@Amanofan7777
@Amanofan7777 Год назад
Counter point: velocity shift stacks with itself, so having 3 white knights can't be overkill.
@Fluff2556
@Fluff2556 Год назад
@@Amanofan7777 counter counterpoint: this was specifically in relation to people that dont want to stack classes. Some people will because it is incredibly powerful. Others don't want 25% of their deployment slots being the same thing. For those that dont, having it "stack" or having more uses of it is irrelevant or just plain excessive. I was also pointing out that using her this way turns her into a velocity shift bot. you're moving her within 2-range of however many units, basic attacking, and moving on. it was also a seque into talking about specific classes that benefit more from a lower RT for damage or general support. I wanted to highlight how much Ravness can leverage her low RT that wasnt just "white knight best, everything else worthless". yknow. "For the sake of discussion," I don't want to undersell the potency of Velocity Shift though, it is definitely within the top 3 best skills or effects in the entire game.

Hmmm... Did you do the battle with Ravness?
@TheRobversion1
@TheRobversion1 Год назад
personally, i see no need for blessing stones but that's because i've gotten so accustomed to making sure my units don't die due to being on a no incap run and my tactics make sure nobody even gets close to dying as much as i can. why mending seed +1? wont it be more efficient RT wise to just go with mending salve +1 (this is what i use) and just take the RT hit for one turn and not have to worry about healing for some time? like with mending seed +1 the healing is mediocre, if you get hit, you'll be back to healing yourself with another item or heal again and thus waste the RT you saved the 1st time around by going with a lower RT healing item. personally i prefer hammers over spears for my WKs but both are great. hammer finishers hit harder from what i've seen but spears are better at basic attacks due to hitting 2 squares possibly.
@TitaniumLegman
@TitaniumLegman Год назад
For mending seeds, it's better to take less of an RT hit on your dps so they can get back to fighting. Why take the RT hit from a salve when a dedicated support unit can do that for you?
@TheRobversion1
@TheRobversion1 Год назад
@@TitaniumLegman ah thats the difference. I dont have a healer. Everyone is designed to hold their own and the tactics are very control-heavy and thus minimize dmg. So i pretty much only heal when there's an enemy unit that surprises me with a summon or its.a boss.unit. and either does alot of dmg, so i'd rather heal back to full because my other units wont be healing that person as they're dedicated to establishing control of the board or killing things. Its generally just my 2 WKs on the frontlines. Then i run with the 4 sisters, denam and princess catiua as my core 8. The other 2-4 flex units i have are typically more casters too just to make sure i have more control like cressida, deneb, etc. Anyway i get it. I still think its inefficient (control/nuking>healing) but i understand since you're expecting to be healed by another unit. The closest thing i have to a healer is catiua so the WKs are expected to be self-sufficient on the frontline (though i dont charge far ahead as i prefer.attacking from range and just having the WKs those.who get past the initial wave.of nuke/control).

I finished the game on lawful route and just started the process to get Ravness. After participating in the massacre at Balmamusa and saving her in early chapter 2, where they're escorting her to execute her, do I need to play through the entire chapter 2 until I get to chapter 3, or can I warp to the right spot with the anchor points?
@TitaniumLegman

You do need to play through to the relevant point in Chapter 3.
