Released on February 15th, 1991, 8-Way Santa by Tad is a heavy, upbeat grunge album. Join "A" Bomb and theGrungeGuy on a journey back to 1991 where they react to some good ol' fashioned grunge music!
This band deserves so much more credit... (discovered because of another so called grunge band that used to tour with them in their early years).. so much potential.. if "grunge" meant something they were more than accurate.
Funny, I just listened to this album for the first time in a while then saw your video. Totally stands the test of time, one of the best grunge bands out there.... I agree with checking out Helmet, Prong, Godflesh, I'd add Skin Yard, too.
I saw Tad many times in the early 90s and even saw them open for Primus. I went to Tad's record release party for Inhaler. Gruntruck was playing the party. It was at the Crocodile Cafe. Me and my buddy got kicked out for smoking weed in the venue so we walked outside and there was a line around the block for people trying to get in but it was invite only so they weren't getting in. We smoked the rest of the bowl in front of them and then walked back in because we had the invite. That felt kind of rock and roll LOL
ACROSS THE RIVER - 1985 demo tape ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rKbm-6VoQ-4.html Mario Lalli, Scott Reeder, Afredo Hernandez, Mark Anderson. The start of the Palm Desert/Desert Rock scene. Also a great transformative album is: Skin Yard - Skin Yard Skin Yard was Ben McMillan (Skin Yard, Gruntruck, Monadiesel), Jack Endino (Sub-Pop producer) and Daniel House, with varying drummers, including Matt Cameron of Soundgarden and now Pearl Jam, Steve Wied and Barrett Martin of the Screaming Trees.
If you didn’t already know, this is the album Butch Vig worked on immediately before nevermind. The lady on the original cover had apparently become born-again since the picture was taken. This is the Ur Grunge You should also give their previous album a spin too. Wood Goblins and High on the Hog are precursors to my favorite bit here, Jack Pepsi
Tad was on my wishlist ( like Alice in Chains ) just because the fact this two sounds more groovy alt-metal than the rest of the grunge bands, maybe excepting soundgarden. To be honest i dont care about grunge 🤔
