Hugh Simpson's taken delivery of a new crane and it's an impressive beast.
There's no lifting being done in this collection of clips, it's a training excercise for the new operators. Hopefully see some lifting being done next time though...

Thanks, good to hear you enjoyed the video. The site is Georgemas Junction, six miles South of Thurso in the Far North. It's where the Inverness to Wick railway line splits and the Thurso Branch starts from. We (I work for DB Schenker Rail UK Ltd) take steel pipe from Hartlepool for delivery to Subsea 7 at Wester. The trains are unloaded here and the site was recently expanded by Hugh Simpson, the contractor we use for the unloading and delivery of the pipes.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I haven't been up that way since last year, but last I heard it was being used to lift huge turbines during the construction of a wind farm.

Great video. Amquip has the same crane. The machine is awesome. It will do a lot more than the charts show. Seen on the little black box it has, the factory took it 17k out of the charts lol. We had only took it 11k out. Strong machine.

Many thanks for this interesting video due mainly to the Go-Pro cam. Was this site made as a temporary one for a local City Centre Building, do you know, and can you say where it is, unless you have and I missed it! knowing me its in the Title somewhere.
