@@swisstopia Nah, lately i've done my first 100km's averaging 18km/h on basically flat terrain so these guys are like aliens for me (im riding MTB tho, but still :P)
@@swisstopiaDon't forget, Vingegaard's impressive ride increased his overall lead over Pogacar from 10 seconds to one minute and 48 seconds in Stage 16 last year...
Never thought tour de France was impressive. However after cycling for a year I realize now how much strength you need to pull this off. This guys are insane athletes
not really the same discipline, uae bring the best climbers they had and 3 of them have an ego,not giving everything for their leader somebody on reddit said ayuso and almeida have in their contract that they won't be domestiques i guess uae paid them to come and be domestiques for pogacar last year adam yates often relayed 1 km for pogacar and pogacar had no other choice to attack, adam rided often for himself hence his 3rd place GC in tour de suisse adam was stronger on climbs then almeida, yet today he was much weaker then almeida, tour de suisse ended 2 weeks ago almeida got upset that ayuso wasn't at the front and chilling at the back of the group, ayuso had no choice and came quickly then almeida and auyso kept changing their place 1 and 2 at relay,a thing that riders at us postal or sky or jumbo team never did because discipline was strong there uae can't controll those riders ego properly,at uae just some riders give everything for their leader
@@universesays1842 Ayuso was a little bit selfish at some point but I guess they haven't brought the ones like Almeida and Ayuso here to push themselves to the limit, get dropped, then left Pogacar on 1 vs 1 against Vingegaard as it would be an useless tactic. They saw yesterday they can drop most of the riders without pushing really hard on a not the most difficult climb in the world and it's good for UAE that at least Ayuso could arrive with the others as they can potentially use him to fatigue Vingegaard like Jumbo Visma did 2 years ago when Roglic and Vingegaard were taking turns on attacking Pogacar. Ayuso is just not used to work for a leader as he was always the main guy when he was racing but I assume him and Almeida know deep down that they cannot beat Vingegaard on their own, even if the Dane is not in his top shape but now the Spaniard might have a chance to fight for 1-2 or at least 1-3 and a white jersey if Pogacar keeps Vingegaard at a safe distance so the Ayuso will not be very much needed to pull the bunch.
Was watching live when it happened. JV was caught a bit off guard. I remember thinking I hope it doesn't cost him at the top. And at the top he was really putting his head down to find the will to muster on solo in his pursuit of TP. Amazing stage of the tour.
The concerning thing for Jonas this time is that wasnt a full send attack from Pogacar. We know he can out sprint Jonas but taking 10 seconds while looking back several times is something to take note of. Still the tour has a long way to go but this looks to be a very different situation from last year. Excited to see the time trial.
@@lordad Lol. In 2023 Adam Yates wore the jersey till stage 5 man, what are you on about? At stage 15 the gap was 10 seconds only. And then it went disastrously bad for POg.
@@tonyg3091uae will isolate him till he abandons, wout is on training for Olympics 😂wilco is busy crashing left and right Jorgensen cooked himself in stage 1 and crashed stage 2 Jan and Laporte are on tour enjoying sights and sounds and tjes is benoot
Great stage, great win by POG! UAE team is too strong, Vingegaard and Roglic are literally riding alone. Vingegaard is already doing miracles considering his incident: hopefully he can improve day by day, for the sake of the spectacle!
And you can se that he still lacks some stamina...he was tired in the end. Not surprising considering the less than optimal preparations. Pogacar looks super human. I guess all the folks who claims Jonas is doped will point at Pogi now...or..?
@@nakawesiabia6311 I don´t think he cracked. He was 7 seconds after Pogacar on Galibier and ahead of everybody else, so still very strong. Just missing those last 5% he normally has. Anyway, that´s cycling and injuries play a big role in Grand tours. I hope he makes a comeback in week 2 or 3, but his main achilles heel is that UAE is so much stronger than Jumbo this year so he doesn´t have the team to put pressure on Pogi if he has a bad day (as he previously have had during tdf)
Love to read the comments from Vinegar Joe's accolytes. When they accuse Pogi of doping you know they have nothing left but impotent squeals to mask their disappointment. 🤣🤣🤣
@@SimonRudbech Silly comment. Are you suggesting the Tour should have been cancelled because your hero fell off his bike? Pogi can only ride against the riders that line up on the day. If Vinegar Joe isn't on peak form, boo hoo,. Cope harder.
@@nomdaploom Don't you think i would have wrote that, if that was what i meant. It's like arm wrestling a girl even if you win It's not a victory. I think Pogi would beat Jonas when he's at his best, rather than driving a tour without competition
jv wala sa kondisyon pa iyan dahil sa injury..pero nd malaspag ng todo ni pogi..at nd maiwanan ng todo..eh kung nd nadisgrasya si jv..malamang alikabok ang kainin ni pogi kay jv🤣🤣
Great respect for Jonas. After the scary accident he had, I don't think anyone would have dared more. Life matters more than a victory. I hope Jonas can continue to fight to race the tour at his best. The fact that he returned to racing in such a short time after the accident should do him credit. If Jonas hadn't been there, yesterday's stop would have already ruined the rest of the tour.
I expected to see Pogis attack with either 4km from the summit of the Galibier or 1km from the summit because both those markers said the climb went up to 11% so it was perfect springboard for anyone attacking Great choice to attack with 1km from summit and putting the nail in the coffin on that descent!! Remco and Jonas were BOTH shy on that descent which is understandable but still surprising to see. Remco was more shy on the descent than Jonas tho 🤘🏻🏴
I see a lot of Remco fans counting their chickens before they hatch!! YES Remco had a great day but this is only day 4! There is so much more racing to come. I stand by my previous statements, Remo will possibly get a top 5 and Roglic will NOT podium 🤘🏻🏴
So nice to see how Pidcock was put in his place by uae. Couldn't even show his downhill skills because he was so far back and didn't get any camera time.
Every year it's all about Pogecar and calling him the best in the world. Jonas wins in 22 and 23 but every major pundit favors pogecar. Now, after 4 stages, pogy builds a 50 second gap over a guy who's still recovering from major injuries suffered in a crash barely 3 months ago. If he comes back and wins this year, will he get any respect?
Yes it's true what you said. Pogacar is fantastic and the most complete cyclist in the world and a champion. But Vingegaard win everything this year and he is recovering yet. This is a competition of 3 weeks not one week.
Classic Tadej attack. Jonas was clearly intimidated by the wet sections. Coming from his recovery he will be very cautious when he encounter this situations on the road. I actually was even surprised that his descent was very fast, but he doesn't want to crash again and the Tour is still young.
@@nakawesiabia6311 Just know that Tadej said he trained that climb and that descent several times for this stage. Jonas was recovering. Honestly I really don't think that Pog can beat Jonas in full form in a Tour, but this edition is painted for Pog, everything is going very well for him and his team, contrary to Jonas and Visma.
@nakawesiabia6311 damn bro, that's how much vingo has hurt you? No team, half a lung and you are happy with 50 secs? When you know vingo can take 5 minutes in week 3?
It looks like odds are more in favor of tadej this year, pog always starts stronger than him until the first few weeks but seems like tadej has more early advantage this year than last. He better not think vinge is over because vinge is just a beast later usually and his strength is recovery which means he just might grow stronger during the tour and be underestimated due to his weaker start this year. Last year we saw tadej burning a lot of energy trying to break vinge early and fall of hard on week 3, now that he is good he needs to play the game like vinge and keep his focus and bike tactically so he don't burn out more than he needs. We will see if tadej was able to improve his form during this year, in a way that will help him to last into week 3. It is to be noted however, that tadej won only 10 seconds in climbing, and the rest towards the end - jonas is usually extremely strong at descending when he really goes for it but i think its also a tactical choice for him to not push risks now. And even in the plan of visma they said they expected to lose time early, like on stage 2 they had expected to lose time. This could be interested, unless vinge burns out then yea. And if tadej wins this year, the rivalry of the fans will just explode, with the last 2 years both of the fangroups then claiming their idol lost due to injury - which could be huge for the tour the next years.

Its easy for you to get there. Just do same as Pogacar and get a top top 3 finish at Vuelta 2019 without any juice as young unknown rider so that teams know its worth to invest into you lol.. the whole reason teams invest into the trouble of doping their GC riders is that they know these guys are the best in the world even without juice....
