I am doing Taekwondo for 16 years and watching this makes me feel like i have more brothers in this wonderful martial art from Korea. I am not from Korea but i fall in love with Taewkondo since i was a little boy which triggered me to join the taekwondo to this very day. I am now one of the national coaches in Taekwondo in my country. Love this Korean Martial Art. For those who talk negatively about Taekwondo, you have to be in Tekwondo for a good number of years before you can judge this art because its knowledge and techniques are time less.. TAEKWONDO IS MY LIFE THANK YOU KOREA FOR TKD
It's pretty annoying how people in the comments say that kicking boards is practically all they can do. First off, this is a display. Second, South Korea is one of the top ten military powers in the world. You think they aren't prepared for a fight? Some ignorant people might not know this, but North Korea is a military threat... Um... Hello? South Korea is at risk of war everyday. The ROK army has slightly over half a million soldiers in service and over 3 million reserves. They ARE prepared for real fights. Get over yourselves, all armies have a fighting technique for close quarters. This is no different. If you served in the military, then you would respect all allied soldiers because they're your brothers in arms. Honestly, I think a lot of the people to trash this display just generally don't like korea/koreans. Very ignorant with little respect for those who protect their country. Show some respect. They are still skilled whether you like it or not. And likely more skilled in combat than many of these people typing away like they know everything.
Julius C I’m a taekwondo white belt, just signed up and it ain’t easy. Immense respect for the men and women (no matter who is who) that achieve this grand master ship. Thank you for your comment.
You know… there are TKD demos and there are TKD demos. I think this one blows the doors off of all of them. The level of agility, precision, decision that these guys demonstrate is simply amazing. And the fact that they can lighten the mood for the crowd from time to time makes it even better. Loved it start to finish.
@@farisarrazi1200Because some people are jealous of those of us that can do amazing stuff, and their way of trying to be superior is by badmouthing us and saying stuff like "a street fight, aah, its different, aah", but when you ask them how its different, they cannot answer, and when challenged to a fight, they find some crappy excuse...
Some of the stupidity in these comments almost anger me. As a 3rd dan WTF certified black belt, I understand how you guys feel about how Taekwondo should be represented with practical applications rather than these fancy kicks in the video. But some of you are forgetting what they're really doing. You guys are treating this like its supposed to be combative Taekwondo. This is a demonstration for the public's entertainment, not a Taekwondo recruiting session, not an informational video to be placed on Wikipedia to represent the Korean martial art, not a demonstration of the South Korean military's power, and certainly not a performance to bring out cultural TKD pride to those who have followed traditional Taekwondo for so many years. It is simply meant to leave people in awe and amazement. Imagine if these guys were doing nothing but the basic and fundamental kicks one might actually use in close quarters combat with a couple 180 spinning kicks sprinkled in. Now imagine a modern action movie that's realistic. They'd both be accurate, but would probably fail to capture the attention/interest of the masses (or at least the non-TKD-trained eye). The point of this demonstration is to excite and impress an audience with Taekwondo in essentially a large festival like setting. And for those that don't think this is Taekwondo, what the hell do you think it is? I'll admit, the dance was only in there for a fun thing to watch, but it still wasn't "gay". If anything, it's awe-inspiring. It's not often that you see a non dance group performing such a complex (and fun) routine with military level synchronization. Anyways, this was an amazing demo in my opinion. Best one I've seen yet.
Well spoken Andrew! But don't even trip on the haters man. Anyone that has disrespectful comments about something that shows THIS degree of agility, precision, and athleticism, regardless of what style of martial art (or even sport) it is, is just jealous or is walking around with an angry chip on their shoulder. A lot of folks on youtube like to hate simply to hate. Im glad you said what ya said, but they are not worth your words, my friend.
Chuck Johnson Very true. I didn't even realize how much I wrote until after I posted it, but you're right, addressing haters online are like trying to sweep a dirt road.
Haha, I like the analogy. Think I'll use that from now on. ;) I know how ya feel though. Generally, I just let it slide, but every so often, there comes a boiling point where you just have to say something... And it's good to. It shows people (and everyone else that reads it) that they can't say rude, disrespectful, or stupid things without being called out on it. It strikes a blow for intelligent conversation as opposed to just the usual idiocracy. Sent from my iPhone
Thank you for being able to express those thoughts so eloquently! This is exactly the attitude I used to expect regarding demonstrations from anyone who has trained in Tae Kwon Do.
i was so angry as a first year black belt of world taekwondo federal who has been training for over 6 years, seeing all the people who said this is not taekwondo and im glad that you did all the talking for me =)
This Guy bjj luta livre combat sambo is better than shit demo, look israel army krav maga (disarms, knife, sticking fighting.etc) this is what a soldier need. Much respect for traditional tkd and hisself defence but thisguys only do demo also olymic tkd is just shit
I've read a few of the comments below and its very hard to find anything encouraging or any praise ( deep down is it jealousy ? ) Whether you like it or not, how can you be so negative about the effort that these men displayed ? Don't you appreciate the hard work required to be able to perform in the way they did ? Regardless of whether it's your style or not show some gratitude! ( It was entertaining ) If you are a Martial Artist you will understand how important it is to be an encouraging and supportive human being. Martial Artists are supposed to be exemplary artist of life ! So many of you are way too concerned about kicking & punching the shit out of people rather than working on character development, which is what the Martial arts are all about ! ( I'm an 8th Dan Karate grand Master, not Taekwondo but I still appreciate them )
you are 8th Dan? i doubt that. Im have a 2nd degree Judo Black belt and have 16 years experience in kickboxing and i have never met an 8th dan at Karate? I met a 7th Dan Taekwondo instructor and he was an ex-south korean spec ops ranger...
Sonny Burnett 10 dan is indeed partly community work.... Non the less that doesnt mean you dont need to show some skills. for 10th dan you do need to show your skills in the martial art and perform on a sertain standard. If you don't perform wel you won't get however there ain't a creteria set for 10th dan. there are like in karate manny styles with own systeems. the widly known one is WTF and ITF. They have theyr own systems meaning per belt own creteria. that's normal its the same for karate and other martial arts organisations... hope this explains a little
That is south korean Army new digital camo named as Hwagang-am pattern. It used by Army, Navy and Air force. But Marine corps are using their own digital tiger stripes pattern
The entire display was amazing. It had a mixture, between the perfected techniques of taekwondo, and the complete sync between the members of the display. The skills were awesome, the ideas were genuine and had creativity all over them. It makes me really happy that things like this actually exist :)
Before you keyboard warriors mock this martial arts, can any of you please demonstrate yourselves doing any martial arts properly? Can you do triple mid-air kicks? If not, just shut up, because these guys will beat you to dust any day.
oh, I am so scare, have you seen U.S. marine military style? Those guys( THE KOREAN) suck , they can be killed by any U.S. solider in a second. Good fighting form doesn't look good, remember that@!
Impressive 👏 as a second degree black belt in taekwondo I wish I was able to back flip and break a board but I have yet been able to master that. Well done men
I've seen armies from many countries. But this 1 is really impressive. Other armies build visual to looks more muscular, but they sacrifice the agility. They move slower and heavier. But this 1 sure will break some necks.
that was killingly awsome. respect and salute from india to S. korean army. thats why i love my asia everyone is different with their unique fighting styles.
taekwondo is amazing, I love how they join it with dance do you know K-tigers? daebak!!! it seems the koreans know how to have fun even in hard times... fortunately, their compulsory military service has the brightly side also
Oriental martial arts and gymnastics are the ART of our human body. It shows speed, kinetic energy, discipline, balance, flexibility, full body strength, bone/tissue resistance, and how cool we can look when showing off. lol
A lot of blind people here that can't see the word "display" in the title. Feel free to stand on the end of one of these Taekwondo punches or kicks and see if you can hit back lol. The whole point is to also demonstrate the damage they can inflict... so for eg: 1 board is 1 rib, break that and fight is over before it even begun. Anyone who wants to know how good Taekwondo really is, then the Koreans are the ones to watch as they take it more seriously than we(British) do with Football :)
O povo sul coreano tem motivo pra se orgulhar do seu exercito, claro agora é 2019 e estou a ver este vídeo ,mas até hoje o exercito sul coreano vem sendo cada vez mais exemplar e espetacular.
Im training in taekwondo and i can promise you all these soldiers know how to land these kicks. They practice hours upon hours for these kicks and these boards just prove how quick and strong their strikes are.
As a korean, i have also professionally learned taekwondo(martial arts). But first of, the reason why people learn taekwondo is not to beatdown people are hit others with some kungfu-like punches. It is learned to regain health in your body and make it harder to get inner peace. And some people don't seem to have an idea about the power of kicks in taekwondo. One of the kicks is called whe chook(회축in korean). To perform it, you must turn yout body as much as you can so that your foe can see your back. Then, pit your left foot into the back to gain balance while putting your foe on your back. Then gently press your left foot to put wieght on it.(try to think that you are digging sand with your left foot. It will make it easier.) then quickly turn your body while streching your right foot to the foe. Then, kick the foe with your right foot. But remenber: the weight you put on your left foot(which is the main power of kicking)must move to your right foot. BALANCE IS EVERYTHING.if you keep the balnce, you will be able to keep every single drop of energy you charged with your left foot. But if not, you will fail. Also, the faster you spin, the more power you will gain but hard to keep balance. If you did this correct, then you have just learned a kick that could break someones skull if performed quickly. Thank you for using your precious time ti read my comment. Thanks^^
Stop hating on them saying this can’t work in real life. But they went through a lot of practice and dedication. My dad is a Korean black belt and he can snap an arm or two in a second. So stop hating on them. I currently am taking classes under my dad and it’s hard, it’s not easy.
Wow! These are REAL martial artists, not just for show. I've trained in Karate, Taekwondo, and Judo for more than 30 years. There are no superior martial arts, only superior martial artists. Skill+Experience > Skill. And in "real-life" combat situations, it's often *will*, not skill that decides the victor.
I believe this is the Korean Army's Taekwondo demo team, not just regular enlisted members. You think every other member has black belt level techniques like these? These soldiers jon is to train mostly in tkd (and obviously some acrobatics) and represent their country through demonstrations.
Quite an impressive display. To those that are knocking it: This is a lot cooler than that drill team stuff we Americans do for demonstrations and ceremonies. Furthermore, TKD is drilled into the history of Korea. And military loves their history and traditions.
i do taekwondo and karate, it all about defending yourself and these that put on show is like art motion. it doesn't matter what style you learn as long you understand it purpose and why did you learn this style.
This is an amazing display of martial arts and acrobatic skills by the South Korean Army Tae Kwon Do Team. Its kind of a long video (17 min) but well worth the watching, especially the grand finale.
all the kicks they did are normally seen in every taekwondo performance, ive never seen a karate or any other martial arts doing these kind of kicks....so tell me how is this not taekwondo? just saying..
TaeKwon Do was the second art I studied when I was young, I love t then and I love it now. People who think Aikido is effective take a close look at this video?
I study Kung fu, and Ofcourse the bias fools want to say that it looks like dancing, is only good for movies and can never be used in a real fight. Think that if you want to, but don't ever fight me unless you've got a gun on you. Have respect for any martial arts. Understand that we learn these things not so that we can fight, but so we won't need to.
well ya it's better than nothing. but if you had a huge fighting tournament with thousands of people from each martial art and then had a ranking of each, I'm sorry to say but kung fu would be near the bottom
This is fuckin awesome. Idc who you are. Koreans in general are one of the strong and smartest armies and most educated people. Massive respect for the rok army and all nationals
nawrin jahan boy wtf. As a native Chinese I can assure you that Taekwondo has never had anything to do with China. We have Kung fu but that's a whole different thing.
I got invited by my third TKD master to ho put on a demonstration as part of a team... in Seoul in 1998. I didn't go. Our demonstration team was fantastic but this was tight, 10 times what we could do. Wow.
I'm so annoyed with half of these comments on here. But I'm not going to say anything. Expect show some respect. If you don't know anything but korea ans the army and taekwondo then shut the front door. My brother is actually in this and I do taekwondo I actually have a friend who was in the army and does taekwondo. So if you don't what they these people are going through and such just don't say anything stupid.
spiderboy 12x24 we are way bigger that would more than make up the the skill level. And besides spending so much time training for hand to hand combat is stupid
I was in the US Marines. Sure they train for MCMAP, but it's so basic it's laughable. Few train to get better, but for the general majority a US military man(AF, Navy, Marine, Soldier) won't be able to stand up fight hand to hand with a Korean military person.
Do not forget that US navy's use hand to hand combat (knifes) as a substitute to guns to be spacific, Filipino martial arts called Kali proud to be Filipino 😋
America's military also teaches its troops to fight in guerila warfare. It's a substitute for when your ambushed, or don't have a choice but to in close quarters.
