Very helpful. I earned a black belt many years ago. Then life got in the way and I wasn't able to work out regularly for almost 20 years. I'm starting back with my old master this past year, but I really need help getting up to speed on the forms I only partly remember.
Today I did my grading from green ends to green belt an I watched this video first because I really wanted to lean my new pattern early thanks It helped me so much 😝
Super cool, just make sure you don't use videos to get too ahead of your Instructor's lessons. He may have other areas for you to develop prior to moving on to the next form. Train Hard, Train Smart, and Train for Life!
I like this question... Actually, this is not an "ITF Pattern" it was created in the Oh Do Kwan and predates the ITF by approximately a decade. I spent too many years arguing over acronyms and have chosen to simply train and teach. Unity in Taekwondo as was wished by Gen. Choi, Hong Hi (Founder of OhDoKwan, founder of ITF, founder of Taekwon-Do). Godspeed, Bateman
batemanTKD i see, i understand your way. i used to think like that too when i began with tkd. but i think the wtf and itf style cannot be united anymore and should not be. korea doesn't unite, so why should tkd. tkd got divided after choi, hong hi went back to his birthplace in the northern part of korea, after korea's division. so south korea declared him as a traitor and created kta and then wtf. since then i think both, itf and wtf styles have developed a lot and they should not be united anymore. i think they are too different and still good as they are. and yes choi, hong hi was a master and father of taekwondo, but he was not the sole founder, he was the name giver. the original styles existed before him, he was the one who gave the union a name, then he caused the division again. but i cannot blame him, he just went home and south korea at that time was chaotic and poor, too..
I agree with everything you have said. The unique thing is that neither ITF nor WTF are united internally. We all know the ITF issues, and the WTF has issues as most of the masters have allegiance to their original kwans. For this reason, I am glad I am not Korea, nor dictated by external nations politics in regards to my training. Accordingly, I wear any dobok that is recognizable as Korean as I respect Taekwondo as a Korean art. Humble Regards - Bateman
+Baekho Ryni For some reason... I find your reasoning very very humane. I mean saying that simply... "he just went home"... explains everything. We cannot imagine how much someone who longs and yearns for home. Just my 2 cents.
I watched a couple of the pattern performed by the American black belts and I noticed the noise. Dunno why tho. Also, the bouncing motion on each move. My instructor never made that noise and the bouncing techniques.
Just our way of remaining relaxed between motions, and engaging the different muscle groups involved in the motions. I know it is a bit different from many other systems of martial arts, but much like karate's explosive hip rotation this is but another philosophy. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I don't think he's trying to impress you with his great strength. I think he is trying to clearly demonstrate the motions. Instruction and competition are quite different.
