While the backflips and bell thing in the WTF demonstration were very impressive, it didn't really relate to Taekwon-Do. I think the ITF was much better at doing a Taekwon-Do demonstration as it showed power, accuracy, patterns, self defence and also showed variety in terms of age. It showed what Taekwon-Do is all about, which is what a demonstration should. Despite this, both teams were amazing and I wish I could do what they could!
I practice WTF but I can say that ITF demo team show the martial art, what taekwondo must be, becuase the WTF demo team do not show self defense. They do not do the Iron armor, ITF do It.
I did wtf takekwondo as a kid (from 7 to almost 10), and it's so much fun to see the forms and have it all come back now as an adult. I really wish I had continued, to be honest, it's my favorite martial art (but I would want to try some itf as well).
don’t let these demos help you decide which tkd is better. i’ve been on WTF demo teams growing up and a lot of times we did some similar stuff to the ITF team shown here, such as the breaking multiple boards from multiple “attackers” or the choreographed self defense techniques, or even the flips over other people. but we also did some of the WTF stuff shown, such as jumping off of another person’s arms to get height for a kick or a flip, and some other flashy stuff. I think a really great demo team performance has elements of both of these demonstrations
Admittedly I've spent much longer in ITF than WTF but I thought they had the better demo. The WTF team had some pretty impressive aerials but the ITF team is the one you wouldn't want to fight.
That’s awesome to see both ITF and WTF together, now they just needed ATA they’re all Taekwondo, isn’t there other TKD organizations I think one is USATF
i think we forget that the people holding the boards and whoever else isn't breaking them is also doing a great job! i dont think many of us could stand there and hold still while someone ran at you with some jumping spinny kicks
I trained tkd im a red belt but in my class we dont do that fancy kicks but we tried to learn but to hard but we focused on self defense and punching on the walls Thats why i focus on punch not those kicks i tried to apply my self-defenses to block a punch then a counter to the enemy i have a boxing friend who is use to be my dummy he punch fast and i need to block it and to counter it
No he tenido más oportunidad de practicar taekwondo WTF, que en comparación con ITF parece que nos han cortado los brazos. Por eso decidí compaginarlo con Hapkido.
For everyone who doesn't know, ITF is tkd that uses hands a lot more and WTF is tkd that uses more feet. They both offer great self defense and can work great depending on the gym. People don't get that WTF tkd is very effective and is more used in the UFC than ITF
the creator lived in korea before their separation, when the korea separated he moved to canada and founded itf, leaving the tarkwondo in korea which would later become wtf
They don’t train 5 times a day in Korea. They train 5 days a week for 12 months to get to first Dan and they have it in their school systems. Americans generally train 2-3 times per week at the end of the day which is why it takes 3-4 years for first Dan in the states.
and there we go, at like 2:30 we're looking at "real" stuff. Anybody can break a board, but in martial arts, well at least ITF, we're talking about precison, power, and technique"
Angel Guardia si, el video está mal hecho. ki tu dang antes tenía muy buenas demostraciones se defensa personal, aunque parece que las sacaron de RU-vid
WTF is more full contact than ITF and is. K.O in wtf Taekwondo is encouraged while it's not in ITF.over all it really depends on your gym, mine in wtf and our self defense includes BJJ and Judo along with our one step sparing.
under which rule? ITF rules or WTF rules or no rules? You know that these argues about who will win only makes sense given a distinct ruleset? K. o.s exist in both and under ITF ruleset a WTF fighter relying only on his kicks will have a disadvantage, likewise an ITF fighter might be surprised fighting with a vest and full contact, where k.o.s are more likely than in ITF where you are disqualified for heavy contact and knocking out your opponents. Cut these bullshit argues about the 'what if...' scenarios and appreciate the styles and rulesets on their own. Talking down on one martial art is disrespectful since it mostly relies on the artist.
WTF demo team is better because they show higher level kick with less power WTF sparring they move fast ITF demo team is better they show easier kicking but with more power ITF sparring they use blocking more
Korea Taekwondo Every Martial arts teach self defrnse there’s no such things as letting people to kick you without blocking, you probably never been in tkd that’s why you don’t see what’s the difference with martial arts and sport like that jump kicks are way more easy they just support you and you just do a simple turning kick, we do all such of kickings, self-defence and others unique Martial arts skills, WTF only show that they have good flexible feet and that’s all they only teaches how to be more flexible instead of teaching you how to defend yourself
