This Hyung is introduced at the second GYUP Brown Belt Level. The pattern is named after the Hwarang “youth group” that played a leading role in the merger of the three kingdoms of Korea. The 29 movements represent the 29th Infantry Division where taekwondo, hapkido and Hwarang do all flourish to this day - Republican of Korea soldiers all train in these three base style martial arts.
On this video we highlight some of the history and background of the Hwarang “flowering manhood” - enjoy and I hope you find the material useful in your taekwondo studies.
