I saw Taeyang's last concert before his enlistment and lemme tell you that his singing voice is no joke. I legit stood still when he started singing "Darling" on stage. I was too awed with the performance.

I've read some comments saying that Taeyang's album is a disappointment. I personally love it, but I respect opinions that vary from mine because we all have different preferences when it comes to music. However, some said that it felt like he rushed this album or he experimented too much. I'd like to expound on that. Taeyang (or any Bigbang member) would never rush their music. If anything, they are known to be perfectionists - people who are so meticulous and passionate with their craft that it has to undergo a series of polishing before it satisfies them or meets their standards. That's why it takes a long time before we see their comebacks. Quality takes time - but it's always worth the wait. And this is something that I have always admired about them. Next, he experimented too much. Since when is it a crime to "over-experiment" music-wise? There's no such thing. That's what music is supposed to be. Music has to evolve. Artists have to evolve themselves too. They gain numerous experiences and inspiration through the years, it's normal they want to try something else. This is way better than playing safe or being a one-trick pony in my opinion. Taste is subjective, yes, but whether we like the output or not it's never wrong to grow as an artist. It saddens me when people condemn them for trying something new. I don't even usually like all the songs from my favorite artists, but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the fact they experimented and took on a new sound. Coldplay, Paramore, Linkin Park among others have been criticized for changing, but I love it. Sorry for the rant lol you can skip this comment but as a fan of Taeyang's artistry and creativity, I just had to put it out there. Not everyone is bound to like his album of course and I respect that, but as an artist myself it is a bit hurtful to see people go as far as accusing you of "rushing", "selling out" or "experimenting" which shouldn't be the case. Artists take their craft seriously. Personally, I've never heard a more matured Taeyang. He has become a bonafide artist and whether he tops charts or not, wins on awards shows or not, I couldn't be more proud as a fan from the very beginning. :)
