i never got into the top 20 yet in master mode - this makes me feel like a noob, even tho i won the first game i played after a few months on the regular mode
I have terrible eyesight so when I stream I can't really keep up with chat without pausing games, I was wondering if it's normal for people with good eyesight to be able to do it. guess not...
@@MidoriMushrooms I can barely keep up with the fast speed and effects on the screen in normal Tetris 99, I can't comprehend doing the fast speed in this mode without reading comments
@@MidoriMushrooms Whenever I used to stream, had at least 100+ people in chat and I have terrible eyesight as well, this was a pretty big problem form. What I did was blew up the text chat by zooming in and holding it on my other monitor while I played my game in the other, for games that I couldn't do that on... I hate saying it.. but played in a windowed mode so I could keep chat up! Eventually you get so used to it you start reading chat via seeing it out the corner of your eye.
I guess that's what winning tetris 99 constantly does with you. You just get used to it. When I am in a 1v1 at the end I am sweating and my heart rate goes through the roof lmao
I’ll be honest I feel severely outclassed in Invictus. I’ve won in normal twice and that was only through surviving. I never really send blocks, I just keep my board clear. Also I don’t know how to set up for T-Spins. No clue how I’ve won twice.
Same boat. Only won once though. Hilariously enough, it was during a Maximus. Took me a moment to process that I'd won. I was so focused on defending and building. Tougher opponents just means we have to work harder as defenders though. Keep at it!
I can set up t spins, it's not too difficult, t spin double is pretty easy, I can do a t spin triple but I never go for those. Just whenever you see a t shape hole in your tetris build, just put any block so your build looks like this: 🔲🔲 🔲🔳🔳🔳🔲 🔳🔲🔳🔲🔲 (🔳 is an empty space) And but a t block in sideways and once its 8n the t shaped area, spin the t piece I spent too long writing this comment 😅
Been waiting for this video ever since they announced this mode lol Also I wonder if it’s gonna be easier for people to get a win on normal mode now with a lot of the big threats moving to this one
I’d like to say I’m proud of the Tetris community as a whole, not just because it’s full of talented people but makes the game more enjoyable then it already was. Don’t believe you’re not special since you only got one win because I v e n e v e r w o n. I hope that brings confidence to at least one person. Happy holidays!
I really like the way he plays. He's not showing off and forcing weird position to make impressive t-spins. He plays single or double tettering and still manages to win
G to the G! lol. My first invictus, I got 18th and was super happy about that. :D I haven't been playing tetris 99 for too long, but it's really fun and there's the huge update a few weeks after I started playing. I love it.
@@KusaneHexaku My strategy so far was that if my board is good and I don't have any incoming garbage, I will play slowly (i.e. no drops) and try to clear only single lines at a time. Next, I want to get the achievement for victory with 3 or less KOs (which is also fairly difficult to do).
Invictus is SIGNIFICANTLY more susceptible to the stack high "attackers" strat. KOS are much harder to come by, so it isn't as helpful to go there. Since EVERYONE is on KO's, since it's good in normal mode, there's a much smaller chance that you'll actually be the one to KO the high ups.
to add to the goodness of invictus mode, since a lot of the good players who want a greater challenge are there, people in the normal mode have a greater chance to win a game, making them eligible to play invictus mode, it is a nice incentive cycle
THIS SPEED at the top 10 is FASTER than the Level 15 Speed you can get in Marathon Mode - i only can say this because i'm like one of the 2 people who bought the big block DLC
2:55 I've won once in 250+ games. Several 2nd place and top 5 finishes though. My best game on Invictus so far was 6th place. I think that was my only top 10 finish in about 30-40 matches. I had 0 KO's in that match and I don't think anyone was targeting me the entire time until the end XD 10:05 I imagine I'll see this victory screen in about 1000 games XD
I love the starting speed of this mode. I have always wanted to practice high speed gameplay to build muscle memory, and processing speed of game mechanics. Now I have a nice environment to practice t spins and tetrimino foresight, normal mode, and also practice placement speeds, invictus.
The fact you managed to handle 20G (term for the case of pieces instantly falling to the bottom) and even fix up mis-drops amazes me... Modern Tetris players are built different I swear
“I imagine it’s only the top 20 percent” Me sitting here with a whole tube of Pringles stuck on my arm yet still somehow able to play this mode. “Sounds about right to me”
Awesome stuff. I won my first Invictus game after 12 tries. Still have no idea how you can stay on KO's and not get attacked by the entire lobby like I do. I always have to stay on Attackers.
I think my only complaint is something that happens in the normal mode and happens way more often in Invictus and that's when a piece decides to auto lock before you can rotate or move it.
I won maybe 5 times at tetris99. I expected to be utterly crushed by the invictus mode. I was third. It was my first time playing in a month. I've got skiiiiiiiills.
I haven't even played the TGM, and I've reached the point where invictus seems too slow until at around 20 left (and I really wish there was a way to practice 20g mode right away)
ive won tetris invictus once. but ive won casual tetris 99 over 60 times. love me some tetris. Gigglebush is my switchname if any of yall have seen me.
This mode will get easier over time, because it's now much easier to get a tetris maximus on normal mode, in 1 day i got more tetris maximus than in all my playing history. These first days are the real selection of the best players, but now we will see more and more inexperienced player who just won an easy game.
Playing with the pro controller is way too sensitive while I'm trying to move a piece where i want it the slightest hit of the dpad puts it in a place i don't want it. So frustrating.
The Pro Controller lacks that ball mechanism most D-Pads have in the center. I saw a good amount of players misplacing blocks because of it. I suggest using the Joycons “D-Pad” or modding the pro controller’s D-Pad to make it proper.
Still looking for for my first win in normal mode. Highest I got was second, a bunch of top tens. I average 3 to 4 ko's with a high of ten. I'm a solid builder. I defend well. I just can't t-spin... This guy on the other hand.... I'm impressed by how easily he can recover from mistakes.
I wish they’d have reset it so invictus was only for people that win after the patch drops. Somebody who wins a game now is always more skilled than somebody who won the day 99 came out.
Anyone who just got lucky with their wins early on will probably drop the new mode pretty quickly anyway. They won't get far and won't feel comfortable playing at those speeds.
