I just finished Jane Eyre! What a book! So many great lines. I love Jane's unshakeable character and gumption. The part of the story where she's living on the run is so unbelievably well written. Her experience of being destitute was portrayed in a way that the reader could feel her hunger, her exhaustion and her humiliation. I think for me that was the most powerful part of the book. All the characters evoked very strong responses from me, either for good or for bad. And I hated St. John!!!! Kind of a control freak and a gas lighter! I need to recuperate now with some light and cozy like the Monica Ferris books, but I can see myself coming back to read it again! Favorite line? "You always were, you know!
I read the Little House series when I was a kid, too and loved them! My favorite was On the Banks of Plum Creek. I'm betting that Camille Paglia is Italian, so she probably pronounces Paglia with a hard g, like tag, hag, bag..., but your pronunciation is more fun 😂
I love the Brontës also, Anne is so overlooked, 'Tenant of Wildfell Hall' is one of my favourites. I haven't read 'Wuthering Heights' for ages, must read it again, & compare notes with you. I still haven't read 'A Christmas Carol'. 'Sexual Persona' sounds fabulous.
@@apoetreadstowrite You haven’t read a Christmas Carol? Phillip, I’m shocked. You just got yourself an assignment, my friend! Thank you , as always for your support.❤️
@@booksoffthebeatenpath: I’ve been very slow with Dickens, the only one I’ve read is ‘Great Expectations’, I enjoyed it, but haven’t been back. Don’t know why, I’m so slow to read anything other than poetry - odd qualms. I will search ‘The Christmas Carol’ out. Thanks for the prod.
