The techniques have merit and are effective. However, they're too far removed from the mechanics of the tai chi your referencing. I believe there are multiple applications short, mid and long range .Myself, I'm not that different from you in my own practice. I find that the propper technique nullifies the opponents strikes, and one should strive to create set-ups for manipulation that completely finish the engagement. As opposed to your closing techniques that seem to still require additional engagement although you are following proper principles that put you at the advantage. I prefer equal parts joint locking, throwing and whip type strikes (straight strikes can be whipping). Thank you for posting your work it is thought provoking. Cheers!

These applications all look like force on force. Especially the take down at the end: it's a little like, "this amount of force doesn't work, so I'll keep going and use even more force." And the beginning is just hard, external blocking.

Repulse monkey uses split power, intended to split the opponent's force/energy, drawing them in while issuing a returning force simultaneously. That's why there's a forward and backward movement going on at the same time. In the form, we are stepping backward during this form to accentuate that. When repulse monkey is applied correctly, it will feel like getting hit by a truck or a brick wall (to the opponent), as they are not expecting forward force coming towards them as the recipient is stepping backward. ru-vid.comynr7cChCcVk?si=0dnbHN8wJYhqlcWs

Repulse the monkey is a Major Outside Displacement throw. If someone grabbed you, your techniqe would not work. You have never done taiji. You are misrepresenting the art. Please stop.
