Tai Sabaki - Whole Body Movement
Ron den Boer Shihan demonstrates how to use head and body movement to dodge attacks and applying selfdefense techniques.
Fudoshin Ryu (Path of the indomitable spirit) is a martial art created from old traditional Japanese styles, all based on the code and etiquette of the Samurai (Bushido).

Fudoshin ryu is a traditional martial art with roots from predominantly old Japanese jujutsu styles. The main influences come from Saigo ryu aiki jujutsu, Yoshin ryu jujutsu, Tenjin Shinyo ryu jujutsu and Ishiguro jujutsu. Also Ju-no kempo (the predecessor to sports karate) has an important role within Fudoshin ryu. The style uses the opponent’s force by constantly off balancing the person. By soft non-tense blocks and direct counters with for instance punches, kicks, throws, joint locks, the style gets an explosive character.

My Japanese Aikido sensei (RIP) explained this to the class. He explained it as techniques executed by the whole body (legs, hips and arms). The relaxed shoulders was more from my tai chi teacher. Your video just made the link.

Excellent training very good but only at the traditional distance. . Much harder to do but not impossible at the closer boxing distance .. very good for reactions and timing. .. some comments on here are ridiculous. . MMA guys at least some are so ignorant. I read one moronic comment .. This is MMA with traditional stuff tagged on. Is he really stupid enough not to realise these systems are the root of your sport systems .. no one would be playing bjj. If these fighting arts hadn't done the moves first .. Man some people are stupid.

"MMA", potentially, that's a VERY wide array of personal styles. I'd say it was better to suggest "in an MMA type environment", "open sparring", etc.

Very cool! Our art is big on taisabaki as well. I like the way you use your spine in the way you do it. I would love to see this in kick defenses as well. Very good job 👍

I love the concept! My question is how to implement it when the attacker shuffle steps like a boxer and doesn’t lunge?

Same principles,first control the distance, block or deflect the punches,strike a sensible local,ex:nose,groin,solar plexus,eyes as many times as it takes,and use a lock or throw

Fudoshin ryu Sensei I think about to train Ju Jitsu or Aikido. In Ju Jitsu I see more Atemi then in Aikido. But I also like Aikido. Can you give me an Advice?

i think that you should practice this theory of contact avoidance with a boxer to see if your ideas on head movement is effective.

Fudoshin ryu I have been a virtual student of yours for a while. I have practiced jujitsu for quit a few years. I have 26 tears of law enforcement street patrol in the US. I have had a lot of one on one confrontations. Boxing is one most difficult styles becaus the boxer seldom commit to the punch as we martial artists practice. They will throw stinging jams from outside. I have demonstrated the jab to jujitsu and aikido artists. Try a session with a boxer and see it may or may not change your mind. Thank you sir.

+tony williams As far as the boxing part, I totally agree with you. Therefore advanced Fudoshinryu students actually train this way and practice many street fighting situations. Only Fudoshin ryu is not a contact avoiding style just the opposite. The plan is to show more about this in future videos. At this time, we only have this example ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e0izRTXo84Y.htmlm16s

No martial artist is suppose to blatantly throw fully committed strikes from outside range. The ones you see in Karate are actually because of hikite(when you grabbed them and pull them into it) or because you shoot the angle and intercept their attack. Your point about jabs is absolutely valid though. The art of momentum doesn't work in real combat....at least how it is demonstrated here.
@Historylover94
@Historylover94 6 лет назад
tony williams your point is valid at the same time for demonstration sake to the masses the moves are exaggerated so you can clearly see what he (the sensei) is trying to do again that is my observation and I'm not knocking your claim which I believe is still valid

You make no sense . Budo has been way before the americans call it MMA . it amazes me how a sport that was brought to america in a few years has become the founder of all style according to ignarants like you .
