They're also both Leo's and us Leo's have similar humor! Plus me and Taika are both Leo Sun and Sagittarius moons so I can especially relate to his humor and have such a big crush in him lol
As a maori, his name really isn't that hard to say. TyKa is the easiest way i can explain it to foreigners. But most Americans are ignorant & don't want to learn our names & about our culture etc. My name is Hine-Raranga but my given English name's Serenity & this is what i tell everyone to call me, because you know, English names are just easier to pronounce apparently. This makes me sad though because a person shouldn't have to change their name in order to please others. Anyways, love Taika, glad to have someone in Holloywood actually representing the Maori & not just New Zealand. Maori are the indigenous of NZ & it's awesome to have someone represent us!
I concur! Also there’s a video called “Dating 101 with Viago” where it’s him as Viago and some other lady teach about daitng and his description for himself was that he was “A bit of a wildcat.” Seriously everything about this man turns me on.
@@ColetteNicoll all humans are hypocrites at some stage in their lives, what's your point? Yeah Taika is pretty honest & real, that's why us maori love him, he represents us to the rest of the world.
@@DeliriousSquid Boy was so like a slice of time, I could see my brothers & cousins in every male character. They say "you can't go home" but I'd rather let Taika take me, then watch some of those gruesome NZ dramas.
@@ColetteNicoll Grusome NZ dramas? Lmaoo what are you referring too? Shortland street? Not really gruesome. There have literally been far more gruesome tv shows in the United states, The UK and even Australia, NZ film & T.V industry is pretty tame so again, not sure what you're referring too. Yeah, as a maori woman, i have noticed a huge resemblance of my male family members in regards to the male characters in Boy. It's not always depicting a bad resemblance either. It just shows a young maori boy in the 70's who's a little lost & confused, having his estranged father in his life makes things worse. As for Elamein Senior, it shows us this is a man who has turned to gangs & violence after the death of his partner, & even though it adds comedy into the mix, this is the life of many maori men, especially after having to deal with years of discrimination due to colonization, they turn to the negative side of things rather than the positive & it's a sad reality. It's one of my fave NZ movies because it represents who we are & the struggle we go through as an indigenous people.
@@ColetteNicoll Also, Jim Carrey may be a hypocrite, but so is everyone who is or has walked this Earth. He's an artistic, creative & original man who has no problem being himself & never fails to make people laugh. A man who like many, has dealt with mental illness & has come through it like a champ, by turning to art! I think that's something we should acknowledge & admire rather than just focusing on the negative shit a person does or says. That's hella ignorant. He really is a fantastic artist though!
jeffsupersaiyan no, endgame needed grit and I as much as I love Taiki his style wasn’t right for such a dramatic film. I’m certainly excited for him to be writing and directing Thor 4
jeffsupersaiyan I never said it was drama I said it was dramatic. Ragnarok was in my opinion the beat marvel movie for sure, but it took so many comedic liberties and the delivery of Taika’s style paired with the endgame script contradict themselves. All of your issues with the characters portrayal would’ve existed regardless of who directed. There was to many characters to be able to create real character development, unlike Ragnarok which only had 4 main characters to develop.
jeffsupersaiyan you’re arguing points I’m not even making. My whole point is that for what Endgame was supposed to be and for what it was both in the script and execution Taika writing and directing style didn’t quite fit. Just take the Korg and Thor Fortnite scene, that scene was written and directed and performed by Taika. If the whole movie had been like that it would have failed at a fundamental level. That scene encompassed the tone of Ragnarok and seeing as you clearly based your original comment off Taika’s work in Ragnarok it’s irrefutable evidence for my point. We can sit here and talk about Endgame all day, but you’d be crazy to think Taika, no matter how talented and funny, was the right guy for the job. There’s a reason Joss Whedon didn’t carry on past Age of Ultron and there’s a reason the Russo Brothers keep directing for Marvel, proven results from proven directors.
I think he’s the luck dragon from the classic film Neverending Story when… On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called "The Neverending Story," Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by "The Nothing," a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive.
