The culture of the islands is rooted deeply in mele, or music, it is arguably one of the most musical states in the US, yet very little of it takes root outside the islands, that's why they have their own grammys (Na Hoku Hanohano Awards). Meanwhile rich Disney kids can afford to hire a team of songwriters and no matter what they put out the syndicated music mafia propels them to the front of the line, because music mafia is real.
The future is we go our own ways as children of the earth, taking our space and time as we take sun and sea, without the global state and corporations.
