@Leecander and these guys are the future legends. when the real malmsteens and gilberts finally pass, it'll probably be your kids or grandkids who'll be talking about the ohmuras, the syus, and all those other young rippers everywhere. of course the pioneers will be remembered, but in due time those who carry on the baton of guitar-oriented music will continue their legacies.
WOW, I have seen a lot of guitarists who pick very fast but I NEVER saw anyone pick o fast entirely with his fingers......Hes got REAL strong fingers........

He's not 24 in this video. He's not even 24 yet. His site says he was born Dec 26, 1983 which only makes him 23 now. This video was on his cd Nowhere To Go which was released in 2004, which makes him no older than 20 at the time. Regardless, he's an amazing player. Cheers...
@OnlyModeratelyMad Well, Malmsteen forged this style of neo-classical rock. It's before Malmsteen and after Malmsteen the Guitar Rock Scene; even if you like it or not. Period.
@icyfire011 It was really tragic how Malmsteen damaged his hands, at least he had the courage to get up and play again. He's progressively getting better again. But Takayoshi Ohmura is so beast at guitar, way cleaner than most shredders and a master at scalloped frets. If you compare other people who use scalloped frets they don't use it as well as him. Like Karl Sanders or Joe Stump are blown out of the water by Takayoshi.
Actually, I hear a bit of Vinnie, a bit of Morse, a little Takasaki, bits and pieces of a few of the greats...some of his other songs recall some Cacophony stuff. All in all, cool!
i'll say the same thing i said in the other version. "yjm" is most likely the person who had originally uploaded the video to another site before it was brought here. and it just happens to be the initials of yngwie. ohmura has this on an album. find me somewhere of yngwie playing this, or on an album of his and i'll believe yngwie wrote it.
He has his own style,sense of free play and a passion for music. You should create your own style anyway and not trying to be another guitarist. This guitarist improvises to. Live version is always better when he plays.
A Japanese --Malmsteen-- not taking anything away from him as a guitarist, but no "SOUL" with his technique. I prefer Akira Takasaki, just as fast and a lot more "soul" in his playing. Cheers to good rock n roll
@acdcislaw Yeah, I have to agree with Nivlaxia on that one. Paul still does all his old racer x stufff. And if anything....he's cleaner and more metered now.
@OnlyModeratelyMad I absolutely agree with you. I have nothing against Malmsteen and Gilbert, but it's so damn annoying when people keep comparing them, or even going as far as saying these young shredders are copying them.
@OnlyModeratelyMad Cause nowadays there are no more NEW shredders, they are just guitar players who play like... There's no guitar innovation. In that case, Takayoshi is a mix between Yngwie and Impelliterri. I have to say that 3:44 is amazing btw :)
well it was actually rhoads, blackmore, and this other guy who were like the innovators of the neo-classical genre.. yngwie just exposed it a lil more... i think.. i don't really remember
@OnlyModeratelyMad You are also forgetting that when you do get to this level of playing.. There are no licks you just can't do. Just how much time you spend practicing it.
@mattwildchild Look up Hellman on youtube. He uses a few good gt-guitar books. One of his biggest video's is taken from a book. As is a few others. I can't remember the name of them right now. They come with backtracks and such. But starting on the books Hellman has shown will get you playing like Syu, Takayoshi, ect..
on demonstration of this music on studio he says: "by YJM", i don't know any malmsteen music called like this but he had no reasons to lie, roflmao. He has a good technique but i prefer malmsteen. He incorporates many influences in his playing, he has a "fatter" style than malmsteen. Malmsteen has cleaner sound
