TAKDAH 

10th December 2021, Takdah, an offbeat place of Darjeeling hills is in the C D Block of Darjeeling Sadar sub-Division. It was actually a cantonment during British rule as early as in 1900 because of its strategic location of being surrounded by hills. The place is located at a distance of 28 km from Darjeeling at an altitude of 5100 feet.
For the British officials various bungalows of British architecture were built on different hilltops surrounded by hills of exquisite natural beauty. The bungalows still hold the old colonial charm. These bungalows have been renovated and housed Schools and Hospitals and nearly 12 bungalows have been purchased and converted into different categories of lodges/guest houses. Saino is one of such guest houses where we stayed during our trip.
Takdah is surrounded by lush green tea gardens viz. Rungli- Rungliot, Gielle tea estate, Teesta valley tea estate.This is an ideal place for rest for a day or two with fresh air, lush green valley, misty mountains and charming sunrise.There is also enough scope for visiting other beautiful places very close and easily accessible. Orchid House, Tea Garden, Lamahata, Tinchuley and Teesta Valley all are within the radious of 5 km
The place is easily accessible by road both from New Jalpaiguri the rail head and Bagdogra the air head.Hired cars are available from both the places. Cars can be arranged by the Lodge and Home stay authories if negotiated in advance.
