Welcome to the Patio Del Moro, a whimsical & classic 1920's Andalucian style 8 unit courtyard building located in the heart of West Hollywood. A registered Historic Landmark with true Hollywood History.
The Patio Del Moro, built in 1925, is a two-story courtyard complex located in the North Harper Avenue Historic District.
Architecturally, the building is of the Spanish Colonial Revival style with extensive Moorish detailing. The building's Islamic character is manifested in a number of features. These include the horseshoe-arched entrance and tunnel leading to the courtyard, a copper-domed Tunisian tower, tiled fountains in the public and private patios, and horseshoe and pointed-arch doorways and windows within each unit. Despite the distinctive character of these elements, the overriding architectural character of the building is the Spanish Colonial Revival of the twenties.
Simple, geometric volumes are sheathed with stucco that has been stained with color washes. Gabled and shed roofs are covered with terracotta tile. Ornamental ironwork and glazed tile are extensively used throughout the building and courtyard.
The courtyard patio is comprised of a two-story Spanish baroque open fireplace and a blind arch framing a built in bench on the west wall. On the east side of the patio is a wall-mounted tile and bas-relief fountain which flows into a tile reflecting pool.
Very little of the exterior of the Patio Del Moro has been altered since it was constructed. Located on the north side of Fountain Avenue, the U-Plan building occupies most of the lot. The U-configuration opens towards the east, provide space for a wonderful deep courtyard. Several units have private patios. The building is composed of simple geometric volumes. A parking garage is incorporated at the ground level of the street facade.
Numerous Hollywood stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Paulette Goddard, Troy Donahue, Joan Fontaine and Suzanne Pleshette have made the Patio Del Moro their home over the years. The Patio Del Moro was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Today, I'm at the historic Patio Del Moro in the heart of West Hollywood. An amazing architecture building designed in 1926 by Arthur and Nina zwebell, one of the true forerunners of court style buildings here in the Los Angeles era in the 1920's.
This building has truly had historic significance, unique architectural design, from the moorish details, the spanish revival architecture, the amazing outdoor fireplace, and all of the extensive details and unique features throughout the building. A wonderful fountain which you'll see shortly, and I especially love the copper dome Tunisian tower above.
So take a quick look at this beautiful courtyard with me, and then come on a tour of the beauty of the interior units. This is probably my favorite spot of the Patu Del Moro. This wonderful inner courtyard, which is so serene and whimsical and fun. And what a great place to come enjoy a light afternoon out here in the beautiful tropical gardens enjoying the picturesque details of all the 1920's original tile, the wonderful sounds of the fountain, and the beautiful architecture surrounding you.
what a great place to hang out and just relax after a long day. Well here inside the amazing Casa Del Sueno [xx] apartment here at the Patu Del Moro. An incredibly unique unit with architectural details and beauty beyond any other building I've seen here in Los Angeles. Again, built in the 1920s, when you look at this unit, the amazing soaring ceilings with hand-painted beams, the beautiful plaster relief peacock details on this two-story fireplace, original handcrafted tiles, the oakwood floors, three amazing terraces as well as a beautiful Moroccan sun-room.
A truly gracious apartment, that was also the owners unit for several of the owners in the past history of this building. It's a townhouse unit with three bedrooms, two baths, gorgeous kitchen, gorgeous dining room, and amazing and wonderful unique details for you to enjoy. While we're inside the remarkable and very special Charlie Chaplin unit here.
