It’s certainly a better use of that space than what was there before. I wonder what they consider “affordable”. They’re lucky to have Visa moving in there. The views of the ballpark are great (if the tenants like baseball). Great location to view fireworks. How long will the offices remain vacant though? This “news” segment looked more like advertising.
I was sure I heard her say that they will have affordable Living? Well I just looked on their website and a Two bedroom apartment starting at $6,000 a month
In SF you apply through a portal and it caps the rent at 30% or so of your salary. People who qualify could be paying around $1-2k a month for rent or less. 40% of the units are reserved for this which is a very significant number. That’s probably why the penthouse units and higher are going for $6k, sort of like a subsidy for the low income units. It’s also possible that these are early bird pricing and the rates will lower to market once the parks finishes and nearby tenants move in.
@@anthonysnyder1152 yeah. I think it's fair in today's climate especially when a lot of times these neighborhoods used to be poor. I think generally those units are going to be the less desirable ones which I think is fair as well. However, they should still be somewhat mixed in. Instead of having one particular area all being low income.
The Public Transportation nearby compared to the sizing of the housing is nice when you take into account how many people will be living there and the ammount of cars would be on the road if there was no public transportation.
There's an entire Muni Metro light rail line running on the same street as this development. The T line goes into a subway under SOMA and downtown now. It takes about 10 minutes from Mission Bay to Chinatown via downtown. Caltrain is 10 minutes walking distance and gives you access to any notable destination all the way down to Gilroy, and soon to Salinas. You can also take a bus or Uber to the 16 street BART station if you don't want to take the T line and transfer at Powell. Poorly served by transit this location is not!
I wonder what the pricing will be. She mentioned low income... but that is usually loosely determined, Im looking through cl right now and even the lowest are still high
yea Katie is correct, you need to apply and go through the lottery process for the BMR (below market rate) apartments. To be approved is usually determined on your income i think. If a person makes the average income for the city they won't be accepted, the person needs to make below the average...usually like 65-70% i think. But if u do score one of the apartments the rent is significantly lower than the average rent in SF so it is worth it if the person is approved
There go the parking lots. Traffic congestion has arrived and is here to stay. Big time. Mission Bay, all concrete, all traffic, all of the time - the community-free neighborhood to avoid at all costs.
I windsurf in the Bay all the time. There's a giant Marina and a windsurfing/kayaking/paddleboarding club that you can see from the window. You must be new here. Swimming in the Bay is a long cherished SF tradition. You're not a local until you've tried it.

Theres definitely people who swim and windsurf in the bay but the water right off the att park is gross and i’ve never seen people hanging out in that water. You can have whatever club you want there it doesn’t change the experience. Cold and dirty. I’d rather go to Pacifica.
