The HISTORIC SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH of Los Angeles is the oldest African American Baptist church in Los Angeles, and it is actually the oldest west of the Mississippi River.
Founded in 1885 the church has met every Sunday for 135 years. Throughout its history Second Baptist Church has played an important role in the history of the African-American community.
The current pastor, Dr. William S. Epps has served since 1987.
Services are every Sunday at 8 and 11am.
