Love how it sounds like a 1980s song, even though the movie was actually produced in the early 90s (production wrapped up in 1992, IIRC, but it didn't get released until 1995.)
I know right? Sounds totally like an 80s Glam Metal song, even thought the movie was made in the 90s. They probably could've used a Grunge sound, but for Gumby I don't think it would've made much sense.
Its odd because Gumby was around when I was a little kid, I remember getting a little green rubber Gumby and orange Pokey for Christmas and I was around 8, so for at least 55 years or so, he's been bringing cheer to children! If you watch the 1980's classic Spinal Tap comic parody of a rock band, lead guitarist Nigel Tufnal has the same rubber Gumby in his shirt pocket while on stage. "If you've got a heart, then Gumby's a part of you..." judging by the music, this song was done in the 1980's..

I'm here because Rifftrax riffed it fairly recently. I didn't grow up with it; I don't have any nostalgic attachment to it. But MAN does the music rock. Even with Mike, Kevin, and Bill making jokes, pointing out how trippy any thing was or how faulty the logic could be, I still thought to myself "Man, a song in a Gumby movie has NO RIGHT going THIS hard." This is genuinely impressive and beautiful. Go, Gumby Movie!

I was also obsessed with it, and wanted to watch it over and over but it also creeped me out when I was younger, there was something painful or scary about it and I always wanted to cry for Gumby for some inexplicable reason. The visuals and sounds were sometimes like sad or harsh? like the dog tears sounding like coins in a cash register symbolizing tears/sadness/pain is making energy for another group of beings and that being a very sad subliminal concept.
There is no romance! They barely know each other, but that doesn't mean they can't dance together! It's not like they make out or anything, she just ends up in his video. :)
this would be a perfect love song if you replaced any mention of gumby or clay with something else, like "oh gumby" to "oh baby" and "you're great, you're clay" to "my heart, you slay"
I would love to show my boyfriend this song, but because of the fact it's about gumby, it wouldn't make sense to show him lol. Someone should definitely remix this at some point! Or even add this version to spotify.
I love how in the Pingu series, Pingu and Pingi’s romantic relationship is developed with slowly forming chemistry in Pingu’s Admirer instead of being forced like Gumby and Clara’s romantic relationship in Gumby: The Movie, based on Gumby, (While Gumby and Pokey’s brotherly relationship is executed much better.) Thomas while not romantically involved in Emily does soon get a love interest in Thomas: The Great Race based on Thomas and Friends. Related to Gumby and Pokey’s and Pingu and Robby’s brotherly kind of relationship, Pingu at the Wedding Party, based on Pingu, as well as The Little Bear Movie based on Little Bear and Franklin: Turtle Lake Treasure based on Franklin also have good examples of three protagonists who already have love interests (Pingi for Pingu, Emily for Little Bear and Otter for Franklin.) but form sibling or cousin relationships with their cousins and friends, including Franklin forming a good relationship with his godcousin and his Aunt Sarah’s goddaughter Lucy in Turtle Lake Treasure and Pingu forming a good relationship with his own cousin Pingki and Little Bear and Cub formed a brotherly relationship of some kind.
Gumby and Terra are adorable together but honestly I think she was only added as a celebrity guest in Gumby’s world, you know how that is, ESPECIALLY in movies today, notice how she’s technically not officially either as she appeared in nothing else Gumby related since. XD I ship them, but I honestly ship Gumby more with Goo as she is an original character and everything, they are cute together honestly. 😊

Gumby and Tara are such a cute couple! I wonder if I can make a valentine card with Gumby and Tara together!? It'll be just like Bugs and Lola Bunny! And I could picture something even cuter, that Tara would be kissing Gumby and he would go crazy over her and there would be hearts in his eyes! I can make a painting about that and I know someone's going to love it! How about you guys!?❤
