Genuinely so impressed by Vanessa Hudgens. She's obviously put in the time and work to hone her craft and it really shows. She's so beyond talented and did such a great job with this song that is unbelievably difficult to sing
Shes literally nose singing. Hard to tell what shes saying. she was def used for marketing because without disney autotuning her high school musical sound she really isn't even comparable to broadway proffessional talent.
@@extatis I think you mean this is how she really sounds without all the bullshit like: auto tune or a studio or a cd with editing this is something you and I will never sing like . it's not spot on but nobody is perfect and every human makes mistakes that why she is not always on tune ,and some of the biggest artists are also out of tune look at some live performance's of them
@@stevieberkel9602 ummm most Broadway stars sing nearly perfectly in tune, 8 shows a week. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that this was a bad day, particularly since this was a dress rehearsal and they were told to mark. However, singing that out of tune as much as they both did in this would make most professional performers cringe.
honestly, I really thought Vanessa wasn't gonna be good as Maureen at all. and then she fucking KILLED IT. like, we know she's not idina, but she brought a sense of whimsy to Maureen and made the character her own. totally love this, Vanessa's a queen.
This actually very impressive since this was actually the DRESS rehearsal. The guy who played I think Roger hurt his foot before the actual filming so they showed the dress rehearsal.
Kiersey Clemons is absolutely gorgeous! It's nice to hear a deeper more gravelly Joanne for a change not that I don't love Tracie Thoms version of Joanne I mean she killed it but it's nice to get some lower alto representation xxx
I think that this is good. A lot of people said that Vanessa is not for this, but I like that both girls have a different type of voices, and I think that the combination really works! 👏 The interpretation is exellent!
This is a popular for me cause agree so much. In my opinion, she does better then Vanessa. I would love to see Idina take vanessa's place in this scene and then just leave everything else.
i love her more as maureen instead of mimi, though i do love both. she absolutely KILLED this performance and i wish she stopped getting hate for both of them.
I think Vanessa did a good job with the pysciallity but some of her line delivery in this was too cutesy and sweet. I feel like that where her performance went week. But she did impress me with her physicality it had alot of potential.
This was a bad pairing in my opinion. They both have great voices, but when they sing together it almost sounds like they’re in pain. Plus there really wasn’t any chemistry between the two. Again just an opinion. But I did like Vanessa’s performance of Over The Moon.
Vanessa's voice doesn't suit the song, but her look and acting does and I think it's still good. Not great, but it could be much worse. They could have picked someone that failed across the board.
@@artisht4057 I have to agree with the person above. Her voice was too soft, high and nasally for the character she portrayed. The acting though is solid. If I were to choose Idina and Eva Noblezada makes a solid Maureen.
I watched so many versions and she was the only one I liked equally as the recording.... We are very differant people. I think these 2 are my fav ones so far.
What even is thisss. Yesterday I was watching the original version with Idina off broadway, today I'm watching this and I'm like... what were they thinking? It's not even that Vanessa's voice isn't fit for the role (and it isn't, it's too sweet) but the stage, the coreography??? WHO DID THIS? lol
It's a chop for me. This feels like Vanessa, the singer, performing instead of Maureen conversing in a sing-song way. For her to be an actor I'm surprised she didn't give her scene partner much to reACT to during the 1st part.
Oh my god the best Maureen Johnson and Joanne Jefferson ever. (Vanessa Hudgens and Kiersey Clemons) Rent: Live in second place are Idina Menzel and Tracie Thoms from the movie and in third place Tracie Thoms (Joanne) and Eden Espinosa (Maureen) RENT: Filmed Live on Broadway and fourth place Nicole Scherzinger and Tracie Thoms Rent at RENT at the Hollywood Bowl
Vanessa is really good but not compared to those broadway singers who've been training since they were children. I agree with other people that this song was a bit too difficult for her
Vanessa and Kierey voice way to small for this sorry not sorry, should’ve gotten someone with bigger vocals like Elizabeth Gilles and Amber Riley. This some high school level acting and singing
I agreed the part that aired was a disappointment. It was a dress rehearsal they did not know was going to be used. You can tell there were some scenes they were holding back, or a little pitchy. They actually performed the show while the dress rehearsal was being aired, and from clips I've seen, they were 10x better.
Yikes. This was just plain bad all around. Not hating on Vanessa at all, but neither of these actresses were right for the role they were cast in, the staging was lame, there was no chemistry at all between them, and while Vanessa overacted, the Joann actress underacted. Bleh.
The Joanna voice is not good in my personal opinion her voice is flat, and her voice cracks a ton.. Voice crack #1: 2:28 Voice crack #2: 2:50 Voice crack #3: 3:10
I think the problem is... Kiersey is incredibly talented and she can sing but her voice isn’t this deep/low, she’s actively trying to make her voice deeper/lower so she keeps losing control, resulting in the voice cracks. Her natural singing voice is a little lighter, raspy, not deep/low with growls.
@@malin434 and the role of Joanne isn’t even that deep either, she sings some of the highest notes so idk why she decided to sing so low when her normal singing voice was probably fine
This made me cringe. Girl with the white hair can’t even sing. Not I’m pressed from her. I still love vanessa, but her voice just didn’t fit this song lmao this ain’t it. Vanessa really did improve tho I gotta say
Kiersey was so good in this but Vanessa is below the level. The song does not suit her voice. She sounds so cute when the song is meant to sound fierce, angry and sexy... while she totally manages to get the acting on point her voice was hard to make me think of her a Maureen.
Nah who they should’ve put is Lea Michelle and Amber Riley and I’m sorry to these singers but something is missing and it’s flavor and they are singing it I will say it’s just bland. No offense to anyone
