Harry Martin, a Wildlife Conservation Officer from Cartwright, Labrador, wrote Take Me To The Country for his old friend, Henry Nelson Mesher. A trapper all his life, Mesher indicated a strong desire to return to his trapping grounds once more before he died. Martin recorded this song on two albums, the first, a 1993 compilation CD by many artists titled Our Labrador from Butter & Snow Productions, produced by Glen Tilley and Shirley Montague, recorded at Studio F, CBC Radio, St. John's, NL, and engineered by Terry Winsor; the second, Harry Martin's 2000 CD Broken Wings, recorded at Eagle Studios in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.
