I think it is Sherlock who has fallen so deeply in love with John. I think it goes over Johns head. I really don't think he realizes Sherlock has fallen deeply in love with him. But I think once Sherlock accepts it and it is revealed to John it will shock John and make feelings arise he has resisted and pushed aside for so long.
I have something to add. (Season 3 spoilers) Sherlock realises that John has feelings for him just before he gets on the plane in S3 finale. He takes John's pulse while they shake hands and when he gets on the plane he just breaks down knowing that John actually loves him, not Mary, and Sherlock's just been sent to his possible death knowing that.
Can I sign some kind of petition for getting them together ? Frankly, they have one of the most beautiful chemistry I have ever seen ! I swear, I´ll stop shipping them when they stop being so gay for each other.....
But, isn't Sherlock Ace? Not just in the show, but in ACDs original works. I know a lot of people do the Adler/Holmes relationship in fim, but this is inconsistent canonically. In all the written works, Holmes and Watson are the best of friends and love each other very much, but never romantically. Holmes does not love romantically or sexually. This is quite obvious in the stories.

What a beautiful phenomenal connection between them! John Watson is the only person Sherlock Holmes never knew he needed and vice versa. They simply complete each other just like puzzles. If one's lost, other one will be in void.
I don't know why I didn't expect you to rip my heart out, but I didn't. Maybe because I was watching on my phone and couldn't see how long the video was... That long pause right before the last chorus... I thought it was the end. You pulled in the clips from the pilot and it felt like the end and the screen got dark, and I was thinking "well wasn't that sweet, maybe I'll go make dinner-" And then. I'm not ashamed to say that I teared up right on that beat, "take", in black and white, with Sherlock on the phone. And continued to cry freely for the rest. That was brilliantly done. Thank you. :)

I knew Sherlock couldn't possibly die with a brain like his, nah... but "don't be dead" and then you Sherlock standing there. That made me feel like punching him on the nose and slap him and give him a huge lecture about feelings, about how it must have hurt everyone who cared for him, especially John. They showed such beautiful chemistry.

I completely agree with everything you said. Regardless of people's thoughts, Sherlock and John love each other, and that's why their relationship is so bittersweet.
I was a normal, unaware, happy person once. Then i watched Supernatural, and Swan Song broke my heart into a million pieces. Then i watched Sherlock, and i totally bawled my eyes out. I REGRET NOTHING
The Christmas Coke advert this year uses this song, but by a different artist, and even just hearing that makes me cry now. But the video is so beautiful I can't stop watching it, even though I'm in floods in the first few seconds every single time!
Yes! I could not agree more. It is also one of the main reasons I love this Sherlock so much, their relationship is so strong in so many different ways and it is clear that they are two halves of a whole. Why could Sherlock not be taken in this direction one day, at all? What is so wrong about it to some people? And who is to say what someone else's relationship consists of? Regardless of anything, their friendship is beautiful. This video just shows they do love each other in many ways.
Thank you so much all your episodes are so well thought out. I always thought it was a romance but others told me I was wrong that I was seeing romance where there is none and that Arthur Conan Doyle's estate would not allow Sherlock Holmes to be gay but We can only hope and Love is Love.
You should tell the others about TJLC (The Johnlock Conspiracy). It's the theory that the endgame in the BBC Sherlock is a romantic relationship between Sherlock and John. And it cleary makes sense for me, there a many hints. Also I would love this ending, because no one did something like that before. But maybe you already know about it. :)
I'm so conflicted... I love their platonic relationship and I don't think it will change but part of me can't help but enjoy the idea of a romantic relationship between them. I honestly don't think that the johnlock conspiracy will eventuate, I just don't believe Steven and Mark could do that, not when they are such fanboys and aside from the period everything else is so canonical.
I feel you... But I think I don't mind, I love both possible devolpments. They are clearly soulmates and that knowledge is enough for me. They love each other so much it obviously wouldn't be so difficult to make this relationship romantically. But I could also understand if the producers won't go for it. Maybe they would say that this show is mainly about friendship and a romantic realtionship would be too much. But I also think TJLC would make perfect sense. In this few episodes there are so many hints, if the producers really don't want this ending why would they waste so much time to place them? But nevertheless, BBC Sherlock is my favourite TV show. I love the actors and their ensemble acting. I'm fine with both endings, as long as it's matching the quality of the show.
When I picture Johnlock, i never picture Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch, I always imagine it with a different softer version of them, I know that probably doesn't make sense. TJLC is very convincing and i agree that they are meant for each other but i don't believe it is in a romantic way. No matter what they do, it will be brilliant and I will love it regardless. Nothing but trust for the writers and producers, they clearly know what they are doing :) also thanks for replying, it is so nice to discuss these things with someone equally obsessed and appreciative of the show.
Bellee It makes sense! I know what you mean. When an actor is really good, you don't see him through acting. They just look alike but nothing more. It's really strange. You're right. Just because they're meant for each other, it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship. Maybe that is what the producers want to show us: A friendship so strong that everyone is wondering why they aren't a couple. Couldn't say it better! I'm just really excited for the 4th season. But I really hope it isn't the last one, because Benedict Cumberbatch said something like it would be an end of an era and that they all have less time. But I already heard before that a 5th season is confirmed. So I really hope that Benedict just speaked a little unclear and it doesn't have something to do with the end of the show. You're welcome! I'm thankfully, too! :) I really love to talk about Sherlock but sadly my friends haven't watched it yet (although I'm tyring to convince them) and that's the reason why I don't have the chance to talk about ist as much as I want.
I've seen a few exellent fanvids about Sherlock and John, but this, with this hesitant voice, is truly superb! It sums up in an exellent way what they feel for each other, rather than the sadness. Love transcends death, and this is especially true for Sherlock and John...

Wow... I love Sherlock as much as the next person, but Lordy this fandom is fragile... and you're definitely entitled to your ships, they so clearly just have an epic relationship and love, but I really do see it as just friendship...
At the end, when it showed Sherlock standing there in the cemetery, I literally stopped my tears to scream at him, "YOU ARE A CRUEL MONSTER!" Because, honestly, look at what he did to John, and Mrs. Hudson, and Lestrade! But then I thought about why, and I was just like, " . . . Okay, I'm neutral. You saved and hurt them. BUT IT'S STILL NOT FAIR." This show hits me right in the feels.

I thought this was so beautiful and then when the take my hand part came i just broke down. Everything hurts when it comes to John, Sherlock and the fandom.
This has to be one of my favorite Sherlock&John videos I have ever seen. If not my favorite. Beautiful music choice, and perfectly timed and executed. Just gorgeous. Not to mention heartbreaking, as I sit here sobbing into my laptop.
This video is so fucking gorgeous. It takes little moments from the show and emphasizes their poignance. My favorite bit is 0:38 to 0:42 where Sherlock gives one of those Just-for-John smiles, and John just stares at him and then looks away like he'll be caught. I swear John just fell in love a little in that scene, and it scared him shitless. It just highlights one of the many moments of the show that make me swear Martin and Benedict intentionally play the characters as if they were in love.
Coming back to this vid after a while, it's perfect. Everything about it. Can't like it or favourite it enough. It works whether you ship them as friends or romantically, either way, love is love.
