Absolutely beautiful Thank you so much. My mother, Lea, was taken home this past May and this song helped me get through the grief. Our choir, the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers perform it in SATB but the Moorehouse all male version is unbelieveable. Many thanks for this amazingly soulful arrangement and performance.
thanks soooo much for this. My parents had the George Beverly Shea version when I was growing up, and I love singing this, and am so happy to find your rendition! sharing on my facebook page.
I don't care whose name is on the music or program but the arrangement is Hall Johnson's. It also exists in a great solo arrangement. Hall Johnson once sued Harry Belafonte for using this on TV and calling it traditional. He also sued Leonard De Paur for scoring one of his arrangements for a Shirley Verrett recording. Both situations were settled out of court. Today, performers think that everyone who knows the truth is dead and often steal Johnson's music without crediting him as with many covers of "Ain't Got Time to Die."
