Man I loved these videos as a kid. Like most kids, I grew up with a tight birthday and Christmas time income so these videos always helped me plan out the best bang for my buck. I was 7 when these videos came out and now I’m a 20 year old who’s in their 3rd year of college. I want to say thank you to Leo for all the amazing memories you brought to my childhood. I learned how to detail my models and got into engineering because of all Thomas mods shown here. My mom thinking I was some kid genius because I learned how to make my trackmasters run on a 9V was a childhood favorite. Leo if you see this thank you for all the memories, and best wishes from California 🤙
@trainboy7 for me the BIG fail of the Dieselworks is the two green legs which are not part of the set, it also seems to ride on the fact it's associated to a very popular Thomas film. In my mind there is limited play appeal in the Dieselworks. For just a little more you can have so much more fun with Load and Go.
@ShuntingTank043 they are not full instructions!, and what happens when you trash the box?? why is this set missing the usual instruction sheet which has safety notices, consumer contact info and all the stuff instruction sheets come with, example is Rock Quarry Run and Dieselworks which both come with a full instruction sheet. my Totally Tidmouth set came with absolutely nothing as well. from all the toys I buy the norm is to have instructions and contacts set up as a sheet or book
@SR3Dfilms i stupidly bought the bridge thinking i could do a over and under set up on my sons ever expanding take n play layout, well it's basically useless if the legs on the bridge were just a little bit longer i would have zero complaint, but as I find toys can get away with design flaws all the time and no one seems to care, anyway kids don't have the power to complain
It's strange how when we are younger we seem to love the laughter when a train derails but when we start with electronic rolling stock we all hate derailments.
@DiamondThomas the only big set I bought which really was very disappointing was the wooden set Racing Down the Rails One of the best sets I have is the Tomy Ultimate Thomas Set, dates back to 2005 ish. If only we had sets like this done in Trackmaster
@PixxyLixxx while your hear do you know about the Kiss Kruise, I only found out via the masses of video uploads hitting the tube, i see there is another slated for Halloween 2012 as sick as this sounds I feel I need to be on that boat...lol, i just wish Ace was part of the deal, as far as I am concerned he's the core sound of the band.
It would be nice to see a Thomas Take-N-Play set with that special 'hard working Thomas' from the inexpensive set instead of just a happy smiley Thomas and also having other characters then the blue engine himself. I agree about the price range here in Australia. I remember back in 2007 some parents in America were suing Learning Curve over the costing of the wooden railway toys. BTW have a Merry Christmas!
Something that got my attention with this take n play set, it's modelled after a warehouse at Brendam Docks on the show, a house that is recognisable and at the same time underrated, and this set is the first time it's ever been replicated in toy form, so I give kudos to them for picking locations you wouldn't expect and expand upon it, as it does help attract fans who have eagle-eyes when it comes to the show (like me). Happy Holidays Leo, have a good'n and see you in 2012 =)
Well done Leo old chap. I must say, I'm ashamed at myself. I can't blame myself, but I was designed for speed. Happy Holidays Leo, and keep up the amazing work!
Leo, id like to thank you for all your Thomas reviews especially the take alongs and knock off Thomas's. Thanks to you, I know about low detail and how to sort it. I have the Load N Go playset, Flexitrack and Bridge.
My kids enjoy watching this. And thanks for the idea of using a Sharpie to define features. I don't think I would ever have thought of that. Good stuff to know before we shell out the cash.
Hello Leokimvideo. Can I call you Leo? As my Transformers Animated collection is almost over I was thinking of starting a Take 'n' Play Thomas collection. But I think I'll only collect the character and not the play sets. Do you have a video review about just the characters and their prices? And one last thing MERRY CHRISTMAS.
@MasterOfTheLemons the way I see it rock quarry run would be great for a 3 to 4 year old, load and go would suit older children, the Dieselworks I feel works for all, my 2 year old son loves the Dieselworks even though those little green legs keep coming off, i'm very close to gluing them on!
@scoobsterinc the bridge is a fail, it should be a over and under style bridge out of the box, this sort of poor design really annoys me, sadly I see loads of it in the toy world
@t4mercustomz years ago I bought a very large Tomy Ultimate set, and it came with a limited edition Thomas which has become one of my fav. I have lost count of playsets which have a Percy or Thomas as the included character, i'm pretty sure having a special character in these sets would make them far more attractive to the kids. From what I have seen the Thomas kids know exactly what's going on in a playset and revel when a special character is included
@1mymm i'm pretty sure if the trains could go under it would be a very worthy bit of kit to have, but it's a fail having a over and under bridge is really important to have, it seems whoever designed this bridge did not look into making it a really useful bridge for the take n play fans
@ShuntingTank043 well it's a shame there is still so much box bloat and boxing which is far bigger than the toy inside..! every toy needs good instruction and consumer info sheet as a minimal requirement, most are printed on a single A4 piece of paper yep i saved the environment and the box was sent to the recycling yard, now I have no info about the product at all
I think Take N Play was the best. The settings were cool and they weren’t exactly based off real areas. Wooden Railway was also the best, but it doesn’t hold up with the sets I’ve seen in the 2010s and up, even with Wood being introduced.
@legomaster1378 thats a first request for Hero Factory! I will look into it but I fear as with so many branches of LEGO it's not a popular item to look at. I have found the lego audience very hard to impress, and sadly lots of troublemakers have come from the lego ranks on youtube, the price of lego where i live is basically out of control so this has me wondering if i should even continue looking at lego.
@ToaCelon549 well Flynn is a road vehicle and he's one of the biggest take n play's there is, he' so big he could eat this bridge for breakfast because there is no chance he's going under it!
The two main sets you reviewed in this video I found the quarry for $49.99 and the load and go had its name changed here to the slate loading station which was $29.99. we also picked up the sodor enginge wash (figure 8) for a mere $19.99. Look forward to more great videos in the future! Thanks!
@ToaCelon549 you know if it has just a little bit more thought put into it it would be a over and under bridge now how simple would that be..?? and imagine the uses a bridge like that would have, you could really start making some great layouts
Hi, my son is a complete Thomas fanatic - 3 yrs old and he just loves your video's. The story at the beginning and the Fails & crashes his favorite parts of course :) Many thanks for the great and infotaining reviews!
@MKWFreeze1 if that bridge had a little bit more thought put into it i would have no reason to complain, sadly i see lots of this sort of stuff going on in the toy world not being a over and under bridge left me speechless, i can only class it as a hill
wow that's so cool and i even got thomas at the farm from take n play and i even got brendam docks with salty dude good job spencer bro you the best driver of the world 😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗😗
@96SmegHead lets have a look, 30.00 GBP = 46.4166 AUD going by the current markets. Now is $46 close to $58, hmmmmmmm! The Dieselworks sells for $35 USD, now here's your homework, tell me what $35 USD is when converted to AUD..! Then look at how much we pay here in Australia, consumers here are tired of getting ripped off.
@thomasmodelseries from what I can see Rock Quarry run is perfect for younger children due to it's roller coaster play action, Load and Go is better suited for slightly older kids because of the duty style play it has. As for the Dieselworks, hmmmmmm I would give that a miss, it's not really a set I see my son key into when comparing it to the other take n play's he has
Hi, brother: Nice video! Thank you for everything during the whole year. If you stand by us, Poem and I will sing Merry Christmas for you... Hope everything with you is great next year. Poem and Derek
@Emmatt44 i was reciently at a large model railway expo and it was interesting to see how the owners of the layouts dealt with derailments, it was for them a really serious thing to have happen, when I watch my son play with trains all he wants to see is crashes sort of sad how you so easily forget the beauty of being a kid where disaster is pure entertainment
Leo I'm a Thomas fan and collect Thomas stuff. But most things I see in Thomas trackmaster and take and play is most industry lines do not want to add very little paint on a piece of plastic an make them look good. And for the price it's ok in some sets but most are over priced. Awesome review but your right why can't people add a special train in the sets I think it's to save money.
Hey Leo, even though I have no interest in Thomas at all, I find your reviews very entertaining. Would you consider taking a look at the Lego Hero Factory Action Figures?
Hey Leokimvideo, My son and I just recently got heavy in to Thomas and we love to watch your videos! We also love to try and replicate the "fail reel" voice. We are slowly but surely building up our collection of Take N Play Thomas. They are very inexpensive as we live in Kentucky. short trains are $5.99, bigger trains like Belle, Ferdinand, and Diesel 10 run $9.99-$11.99, pull and zooms and talking trains are about $14.99.
I think the load and go presents the best value. It has size, height, and no sharp bends so long engines can fit on it. I'm actually having 2nd thoughts about buying my diesel works (BTW I got mine for about 30 dollars in the US at Target). I'm thinking about getting a load and go and building my own dieselworks Mk2.
ya know what else is lacking in Take N Play Train sets? Rolling stock, either they come with only one piece of rolling stock or non at all, its really bugging me whenever I see a train set with no rolling stock or just one piece of it.
the Thomas take n play is Extremely Rare in malaysia now but i found an old talking percy and i did buy it, Malaysia does have thomas toys but not the take n play brand. (Older minis are there)
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Leo! As for the Rock Quarry Run set, I feel it's dramatically overpriced; I got a TOMICA set that was far bigger and had lots more pieces for the same price.
@leokimvideo Well, let's not forget the road vehicles. That could be good to have characters like Bertie to run under. (Though, Kelly's crane may be too high)
perhaps the reason we dont get any specal edition thomas with large sets is becsuse: 1# a child is expecting a normal thomas, but if they want say a dirty grit coverd thomas they can just go get the specal thomas without spending so much. 2# greedy toy makers. MERRY CHRISTMAS MATE!
@leokimvideo Yes, Exactly, the sets like the 100 pieces sets would come with destinations and different engines and you would get great deals on them. Trackmaster is now the only Thomas toy source to a big set without any flaws. nowadays you really can't get large wooden or Take n Play set without 5 or 6 flaws.
One question: Why do you poke fun at Thomas in the entertainment parts like "I'll go cause chaos somewhere else" and "Oh no! The Fat Controller's gonna cut me up for scrap steel!"
