The tank looks great Evan. A lot of people don’t pay attention to the sump as far as regular cleaning but when you have a nice looking system and good equipment then why not keep it as clean as the tank. 👍
For protecting carpet and wood floor, “chucks” work well. They are the absorbent pads often used in beds in hospitals and nursing homes, essentially a large flat diaper. Most drug stores carry them. The ones I use are a yard square.
Good video. I think sump maintenance is the least favorite part of the hobby, but keeping the equipment clean and running well makes for a better display.
Bro. Buy another 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Put 2 holes in the lid. Put the shop vac on one hole. And put another hose from one of your old shop vacs on the other hole. It will pull all that water straight into your 5 gallon bucket. Works with a brute container too. 👍 hop it helps.
I never thought to use the shop vac 🤔 After every water change, when I restart the return pump, I get junk from the sump bottom flowing into my DT. Hmm. Now I know what to do. Thank you!
Never thought about a shop vac, thank you for that. Also, why the reducer line on the K1 output? Does that help with clogging because my hose is bigger and it’s constantly clogging.
This is a selfish request, bc I’d like to know more about many of the critters in the studio, but I think it would be great for you to do videos of the feeding process for the various corals, for example, I don’t think I’ve seen a video of you feeding the carpet anemone and other awesome animals in the building. Thx!!
I only have one question and that is what about the pods if any in your sump? I have chaeto in my mid chamber and it gets awful any advice on how to keep it clean?
Nice video guys! I think a clean sump is an excellent gauge for your dedication in the hobby. QQ though; I noticed there was a bit of a orangish tinge to some of the gear in the water. Do you know what’s causing that?
Nice video, very informative. What filter roll system do you use? Oh and one question. You don’t have a refugium do you have trouble with nutrient export
@@EvanMontgomery thank you. I am still trying to recover from the winter storm in Texas from earlier this year. I am almost at the point of tearing down and starting over.
@@EvanMontgomery Thanks. I'm having issues with the foam constantly dropping not going into the cup and controller goes into feed mode when it feels like. Custom service no help.
@@grow_n_squish9198 Yep. I was feeding my fish and cleaning the tank while listening to this video and If I had not already seen Evan I would of swore it was Jake making the video.
