Still the best looking version, and the most accurate to the original design. New ones are literally ordinary cars, nothing about them looks like a mini.
I have to agree! The R53 proportions are superb and it just seems as though the "improvements" that followed 2007 > only moved the design into the direction of "caricature".
Beautiful! I've had the same 2005 R50 since new. Had it all over North America - coast-to-coast in Canada, including several overnight blizzards when the only other vehicles on the road were snowplows (I was in the military and would do marathon drives to get home for the holidays), and now I live in Phoenix and can enjoy the car on roads like our 89A (Google Maps it). Sure, the R50's not as fast outright, but mine has all the upgrades and is still pretty fast (it feels as fast as my wife's 328i). I smile every time I drive it and I don't ever intend to part with it.
Great tour of a really sweet car. You obviously love it and it shows. I have a 2004 JCW and even though I can afford to buy just about any car even a supercar---that JCW makes me grin like a baboon---it's fast---it's fun----what more do you need really.
What about Powerflex bushings on the control arms? I just bought a 2006 S checkmate. Red chili. Adding the usual mods. I hear the new bushings make a big difference.
Hi John. This car does have poly bushings too. Replacing worn out bushings with new ones will always make an improvement. The main difference with poly is that they last longer.
the R50's and 53's look much nicer than the later cars, the proportions are perfect. The newer cars are like Salma Hayek with Cyrano de Bergerac's nose.
Hi Ross, I obtained that set through an eBay seller. If you search eBay door “MINI Cooper Custom Gauge Faces” you will find them. Look for item “112646054829”
@@unknownip6741 of course all cars can’t be other car a van is a van a suv is suv and a tractor is a tractor every car is designed to do specific job and a mini is designed to put a smile in your face every time you hit the gas pedal,,,,for construction is my hiaces job to think about 😅😅😅😅
Looks absolutely great, don't ever sell it again haha! Greetings from the Netherlands from a fellow R53 2006 owner > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aJC8XYb1rPw.html
