This guy passing based on this video is no joke. It looks stable. Physically, he looks strong as a defender. Some of those weak foot passes are kinda nuts. Seems like he could be really press resistant. You try to force him off his right foot then he just says: “No problem” and flips the play with his left instead. Really valuable skill for playing out of the back.

He's not the classic powerhouse all heading and ramming around, he's the smart one defender every team needs in their lineup. As a Roma fan i always watch Serie A obviously and always admired Tomiyasu, he can both mark the man AND intercept the opponents pass lines at the same time, eagle eyed smart defender. Great sign from Arsenal, huge loss for Bologna and Serie A. Hope the best for his career, he's also a nice guy. Treat him well

Some ''fans'' are slating him before he's even had a chance, comparing him to Asano. The difference is, this guy comes very highly rated from a good league. I'm really excited to see what he can do. He seems to be a real fighter and we need that especially in the RB slot! Great physique, anticipation and speed. I expect he'll play RB mostly but the fact that he can flex into CB is a good thing in case we wanna play a back three. ofc, highlights can make almost anyone look good but this guy seems like a bargain at 17m.

Just because the guy isn’t a household name, isn’t English or Italian or Spanish, don’t mean he can’t be class. I’m keen to see what he can do and I think us fans should get behind him and give him a warm welcome! I could rant forever about how Arsenal are rebuilding and how this summer’s business has been solid as fuck, but it mostly falls on deaf ears on my fellow fans. And even just looking at his stats on paper for those that haven't seen him play, he's clear of every CB at the club atm and can also play RB. In todays world where any decent defender comes at 30 mil and up this guy is a bargain.

When he was linked with Spurs I'd seen his comps and felt they were getting someone very solid and quite suited for the PL. Considering how awful Arsenal's RB options are, especially consistency and defensively, he will be a good addition. He won't be bullied like Bellerin or Cedric that's for sure.

Anyone who watched Serie A closely knows this guy is top 3 right back in the league. What I like most about him is his tenacity. Tierney Gabriel Tomiyasu are all mentally tough even Ramsdale, not sure about Ben White though.

I watch a lot of Serie A games and as someone who is an AC Milan fan; this player was going to come our way but the club wasn't going to make an offer of over 15 Mil for him. I remember going up against Bologna and it never felt as though this guy was causing us a problem so I also felt that paying a huge amount was unrealistic. So Arsenal is overpaying for him but good on the Italian team for holding out for what they believe is a very valued player. He is a versatile player and will be an asset given the quality of right-backs at Arsenal. He is very good on his left foot so that is another bonus. Good luck to him and will be watching him.

this guy has all the attributes our defense need - he's decent in the air (6'2"), solidly built and can stand his ground (watch how attackers have trouble bodying him when they try to go around the outside), agile, good passing ability (at distance, and with both feet!), and a fighter in 1v1 dribble duels. I have nightmares every time i watch anyone dribbling at Chambers at RB (Grealish, Canos). hopefully, this signing locks that right side up. He may need a backup though...

The best athletes of a generation in Japan used to play baseball coz it's been historically the biggest sport here. But as football has gained more popularity with kids than before especially after WC 2002, more top athletes started choosing football and Tomiyasu is absolutely one of them. He is tall and runs super fast with decent technique on the ball. He shouldn't be underestimated just because he is an Asian CB/RB.

When Tomiyasu was in Fukuoka, Japan, a head coach introduced two young promising players in their team on TV show. Both of them are same age teenagers and already selected for an under category international team. Football talent of both of them were totally outstanding and famous already back in that time. One is Tomiyasu, DF and the other one is MF. Now, Tomiyasu became an Japanese international and managed to moved to Arsenal. However, the other one was fired due to the breach of team's compliance several years ago and now he is playing in South Korea. With his high quality skill, this guys keeps entertaining people in Korea despite it is not easy for Japanese because of historical background. But, unfortunately, it seems like J league teams and an international team decided not to give him any more chance to play for some reasons. Hope, some European teams will find this hidden gem one day.

I feel the same way. Sometimes even 1 player can change the way players get into certain positions. It's all about the momentum not being lost in silly places and if they get some confident players in the team, they'll have that quick playing football back in no time. Also the Kroenke's must be kicked out the club.
