I’m having some rough low appetite problems related to my disability, and your channel has been really helpful for helping me eat what I can be sure are nutrient dense and balance meals at least a few times a week. I’m over the fast weight loss, hair thinning, and worsening illness symptoms from lack of nutrition, but I can count on Pick Up Limes every time :) edit: my absolute fave takeout is pad se ew from a specific restaurant, and although I order it at every Thai restaurant we go to, it’s always so dry and flavourless. The good version is soooo saucy and the noodles they use are hand torn rice noodles which makes it hard to beat!
I encounter this problem every so often due to chemotherapy and the often awful side effects thereof. As you know, you have to eat especially when going through a rough period. Living in an Indian household, I have found that dal and rice are my saviors, be it sambar, spinach dal, tomato dal, etc. Curd rice also is helpful. I hope you can find something palatable and nutritious during your rough patches, all the better if from this channel. These noodles, would probably make with tofu seared in the hot oil instead of edamame, look like a good candidate. Another problem I have sometimes: I develop aversions to foods that sustain me during rough periods, because they become closely associated with ongoing nausea; thus, in my experience, it is best to have a few good things and rotate them a bit to avoid having that happen with favorites. Good luck to you.
@@richardwallace6313 thank you! i find that rotating a few easy meals is usually a good strategy, so I just try and make sure they’re each as nutrient dense as possible! this channel, and a few other plant-based ones, make it easy to narrow down my choices. best wishes to you as well.
Haha I feel you Rahel! If you go waaay back to our older videos, you'll see I had terrible knife skills. Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't lose a finger. But a little practice goes a long way. It actually took much less time than I thought mastering some basic knife skills. Try searching "knife skills" here in RU-vid and you'll learn lots - it's worth the investment - meals will start coming together much quicker (and safer) 🕺🤗
omg could you please do to-go lunches that can be made ahead? I'm in uni and I spend most of my days at school. p.s.: you should totally try to veganize scallion pancakes!! I have a ton of scallions I need to use
My favorite cheat meal is Korean bbq (pork belly to be specific!)..is there a way to veganize these flavors and make crispy to enjoy? With lots of love!!
I'd love to see a healthier version of General Tso's tofu. We don't do takeout often, but when we do this is usually my go-to. It's a dish that will never be health food (even though I usually get it with broccoli), but I imagine the sugar content could be reduced with some cooking magic. Thank you for all you do!
Yesss to the bibimbap! As for the other, we do have a (spicy) orange glazed tofu recipe that might be similar 😉: www.pickuplimes.com/recipe/sticky-orange-glazed-tofu-320
if you're reading this Sadia I just wanna thank you for helping me at my worst I hated myself my body my features etc I then started watching your videos and I immediately felt better just seeing someone being realistic and honest about their life made me feel better just seeing you smile made me happy
Hey 'your big sis' - no way you're thanking me right now. I want to thank YOU! Thanks for being here with us, and for being interested in what we put out there. I'm sorry you had to go through a hard time, but I'm sure you already know you're beautiful through and through. Thanks for sharing your love and light 🤗 sending a huuuuuge hug!
Sadia I agree! Your videos make me so happy and are a part of my “be kind and gentle with my sweet self’ mental health practice. Thank you for the love & magic you two share with the world! ❤
I swear you just changed my life with the frozen ginger root because I never manage to use all of it before it goes bad. Definitely going to try some of these!
"If you aggravate the tofu, it'll crumble"..what a life lesson! Respect people's space!! Great recipes as usual Sadia! And PUL community: great questions in the comment section! Thank you!
I just made the home style garlic chili noodles and I am never having a takeout ever again!!! IT WAS AMAZINGGGGG. I didn’t even have gochugaru so I replaced it with chili flakes and still it is now on top 3 fav dishes of mine!! Thank you so much, Sadia, for sharing such amazing recipes and overall a very feel-good content.
Perfect timing, I stopped ordering takeouts because it was just pricey and it definitely gets cold once it delivered. I’ve been meal prepping more and it also gets boring sometimes. The recipes in this video is definitely going to be a nice change here and I love LOVE a good noodles bowl. Definitely takes me back to my college years too 😂 Thanks Sadia and PUL team 💕
you have more control if you literally order takeout (pick up) rather than delivery. You never know how long your order will sit on the counter at the restaurant before a delivery person claims it, and then the delivery person might make several other deliveries before getting to your address. I gave up on delivery many years ago mostly because of this problem. Takeaways are much more reliable than delivery.
I just made the home style garlic chili noodles and they were SO good. I didn’t even have gochugaru because I couldn’t find any nearby (I used paprika and chili flakes instead), and I only had normal rice vinegar and soy sauce. Even then, it was still really good!! Thank you Sadia!
Can I say that your videos are therapeutic. The calming green nature backdrops, crisp video, cleanliness, lovely smiles, food, story and conversation. Feels like coming home to eat with family, every time… Much love. ❤
Just made those noodles and they were so good I was holding back tears of joy!!! I love recipes that are SIMPLE, QUICK, and AMAZING! Thank you so much!
Absolutely LOVE the quick recipes! Just what this busy mum needs. Thank you for your inspiration ❤ A veganized Thanksgiving spread would be amazing, as my family is new to eating this way
Wow, a bit of a different style video than I'm used to from you but I really dig it!! Editing was super fun (props to whoever on your team did that!) and the upbeat music really brings it all together! PUL vibes never fail to soothe me and make me feel happy and excited to cook :) Lots of love!!
Thank you so much for all your videos. I have some of your dishes and I absolutely love it!! I would like to know where you buy your dishes :) . I love your plates. Thanks again
Happy to report that the ‘home-style’ garlic noodles were a hit with my little family! It was dangerously easy for the meal to come together, and delicious. 💕
Hey Anne! I was honestly always quite weirded out hearing my own voice, but after some years of editing videos I got used to it. Wouldn't ever have thought to narrate audiobooks, but as someone who loves listening to them, it's a huge compliment, so thank you! 😅
These are the best! I can’t wait to make these! I was going to make your “butter” tofu curry restaurant tomorrow for dinner, but I think I’ll be switching it out for this new Tikka Masala recipe.
these recipes look so flavorful and delicious, not to mention the impeccable cinematography and how eloquent and informative you are!! after finding your channel i’ve been so obsessed and inspired. i always order indian or korean when i get takeout, but with my digestive issues i really wanted a vegan rendition-so this helps out incredibly! korean dishes would be lovely to see next!! thank you for all your hard work in your videos, they are so therapeutic and lovely to watch!
I'm from India and this recipe originally has two versions like paneer (cottage cheese) and chicken version... But as I'm trying to get into vegan food I literally wanted to know how to cook tofu in the same gravy... Also I love you and the kind of soothing videos that you post 😌😌 lots of love ❤
@@shivanisharma1835 The soy induced 'zing' is reduced and tofu made with lactic acid tastes very much like paneer but I haven't found any vegan lactic acid-based tofu in Indian stores yet haha. But I forgot to mention that's for extra-firm tofu, for others reduce the boiling time to 2 mins or it would scramble.
Absolutely amazing as always! I love how you add the greens and edamame as a side for extra nutrients, and it’ll still feel like takeout with them! Can’t wait to try it. I would love more takeout style videos like this: hot and sour soup, veggie fried rice and teriyaki tofu would be some great additions! Thank you PUL for all that you do!!
You’re so generous in your videos - great recipe ideas, intros to new products, and helpful tips, all in 10 minutes with gorgeous art production! You’re killing it!!
Got soo excited seeing the notification! I was watching your videos all day and this felt like I called it! 😂 Always wanted to tell you but never did, Thank you for helping me start loving vegetables and vegetarian dishes! ❤
Woah I’ve never cooked noodles like the first version before. Definitely going to try it! Also, I hardly get takeaways, but every now and then I succumb to laziness and get food delivered and I get disappointed EVERY TIME. I just don’t feel satisfied or even feel like crap afterwards sometimes and regret spending $30-$50.
10:45 That's not a spice, that's some warlock/wizard powder that's the secret ingredient to their most powerful potion to take down everybody and bring chaos to the world
Hi Sadia. I'm so happy that you cooked our Indian recipe. Actually in India we say this recipe as Paneer Tikka Masala or Paneer Butter Masala if it's a dairy product. Otherwise it's Tofu. I welcome you to India to taste our dish and don't forget to share your views with us 😄👍😉. Sending you lots of love from India💓☺️.
I just made the tofu tikka masala and I’m surprised how good it tasted for just 20 minutes of cooking. Sadia you’re amazing!!! Thanks for all the bomb recipes 💣🔥🤤♥️
I'm going to be a lil cheeky and give you/Robin this to taste test-> Include the same amount of oil from the first recipe in the second and cook it the way you do in the second way😜😜😜 now I do wonder which he'll like best😁
Hey Sadia, I've been following you for several years since my undergrad in Canada, but it's my first time commenting! I just wanna say you selected a very good vinegar because it's what I consider the best brand in China that is very tasteful and smells real nice.
SO making both of these within the next week. (I have off!) I'll make the "home-cooked" version of the Chili Noodles. All ingredients are in my house for a change. Thanks for sharing these!
For first recipe, in China, it’s literally called pouring oil noodles, it’s better to use home cook noodles, and surely you can use Chinese chili flakes if it’s not too spicy to you
Thank you for those recipes Sadia. As a RD myself, I really appreciate your "healthier" versions. Those fancy noodles are hard to find even in Calgary. Thanks for making plant based food looking so delicious.
Greetings from Burlington 🍁 . This reminded me of KL days where Mee Goreng was almost go to lunch and you could add many veggies like 🥕, 🧅 , 🥬, 🍅 , 🌶️besides 🧄 . If you use Sesame Oil…. It adds extra flavours 😋
Thank you for the video, you literally captured my favourite take-out foods! I make garlic chili noodles quite often, and I use cayenne flakes, which can make it overwhelmingly spicy. Next time I'll use gochugaru instead, it's brilliant! Also, I recently tried making palak paneer with medium firm tofu, I highly recommend it
You READ MY MIND! Thank you! This might be an obscure request, but my all time favourite takeaway (I'm in Ireland) is a Spice Bag! It's a little brown bag with chips (fries) that are thick cut, fried veg like onion, garlic, chillies, and it usually has chunks of crispy chicken (which I omit). It's so nasty and so good, but I'd love to make it myself!
I used to order sesame chicken and general Tso's chicken, beef and broccoli, peppered steak w/ tomatoes. Apparently my tastes have changed bc now I would for sure order this at any take out place lol. I can't wait to make this❤️
Hi Sadia, I absolutely love your content. You radiate positive energy in all your videos. Thanks for spreading joy 😊. Could you also please make a few videos on diet/recipes to be followed when planning for a pregnancy ,during and after pregnancy? It will be really helpful for a lot of people.
Next time when you make Tofu Tikka masala, put some crushed kasori meethi (Dried fenugreek leaves) at the end. It will take the flavors and taste to another level. Lovely video 🎉👌🏻
I discovered your channel yesterday and I watched your video based on journal writing. When I saw you, the first thing that popped into my head is "WHAT AN ANGEL, MY GOSH SHE'S GORGEOUS 😍." I get that you're married but an honest compliment works for everyone☺️.
Sadia, I've been waiting for this, as I have all the ingredients including gochugoru. I'm looking forward to make this for my dinner tonight, thank you for the recipe.
I'm so glad you started doing blooper reels at the end of your vids. I'm at home hanging with COVID and they got the first real laugh out of me in two days. Thanks for that 💕
Wow, I didn't know about ginger grating better when frozen! I always cut it in small pieces cause those fibres annoy me! But your option is way better! I'm definitely going to try that!
I would love to see veganized “meat”balls. I have tried several recipes, and they haven’t turned out very well for me. I enjoy your channel, it is incredibly helpful. My husband and I started eating vegan about a year ago, it has been a journey! The hardest thing is the comfort food, and your channel has opened my mind to making dishes veganized. Instead of always trying to find new recipes (and some vegan recipes are sooo bad), just making simple adjustments to old favourites that make them vegan. Thank you.
The recipes are amazing , thank you for putting them together so they look (and are!!!) absolutely delicious. I was wondering being autumn in Europe and hence the season for chestnuts, any tips or recipes for this delicious fruit? Thanks
