This is one of the best descriptions...singing broccoli and dancing tofu. 😆 I could really see Claire's joy. I love tofu. It's my favorite protein, so I definitely need to get some of the sauce ingredients to make this. Thank you!
im a college student and your recipes have helped me eat good on a budget and even save alot of time on cooking! please keep more recipies coming, much love :D

I did not expect this tofu dish to taste this good. I made sure I followed the instructions properly. You are right, I never thought I would enjoy tofu this much and yes it’s the best tofu dish I ever tasted and made. Thankyou for teaching me how to cook this dish. I also fried white onions as love chunks of onions. I am eating this right now as I make this comment. Thankyou!!
so delicious..personally i love Broccoli, have lived as a vegetarian for 17 years, back then in the 90's and 2000's, as for today, i'm eating meat not much.. so many greetings from Brunswick in Germany and please stay safe 🙂
Just recently started cooking tofu, and now my whole family likes it - thanks to your recipes! Your RU-vid channel definitely changed my cooking habits for the better, and now your cookbook has become a favourite in my kitchen. Thanks for your easy to follow, delicious recipes, and your sense of humour.
This looks amazing Aaron! 😍 I love what you did to the tofu! Coating with the corn starch added the great texture and then it soaked up the wonderful sauce! 😘 The addition of broccoli makes this a great meal! 😋 A meal surely to please as it dances in your mouth! 😚 Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
I have to say "Thank you" "Thank you" "THANK YOU"! for this marvelous recipe. Yesterday we had vegetarian friends over for a New Year's meal. Although I am not a vegetarian I do enjoy vegetarian dishes, and this one is probably the best one I ever tasted. I had made it once before with potato starch and used corn starch this time, and I preferred it. As I had done before, instead of using cubed tofu, I cut my Extra Firm tofu into 5/8" slabs because I knew they would be easier to turn and brown (although I didn't fry them till brown. I also used more oil (avocado) than you called for. I put the sauce ingredients into a bottle the night before and refrigerated it. Also, the night before, I sliced the green onions, and like you I LOVE GREEN ONION and I made more than the recipe called for. I also put the garlic, ginger and red pepper rings in little bowls and refrigerated them (I doubled the recipe to make sure I would have enough for four people.) Everything went well until I had to add the broccoli, and it all didn't fit into the 12" skillet I was using. I had set a larger pan aside for all of it, but forgot to use it! My Aaron and Claire fans, even if you don't particularly like vegetarian food, you must try this. It is a total treat...and the fact that it is very pretty (don't leave out the red pepper rings) doesn't hurt the presentation.
AARONNNN AND CLAIREEEE i started air frying tofu and it has literally been the most convenient way to fry tofu i think. Just a splash of oil to the tofu and in the air fryer at 400F for 20 minutes works. Perfectly crispy tofu :D
I was looking for a comment like this. How do you keep the tofu from sticking to the air fryer basket? Do you oil and preheat it or do you put the tofu in a pan inside the air fryer basket?
I tried this recipe last night without MSG and OH MY GODDDDDD 🤤 they weren't lying to us guys !!! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS. Making this right now with chicken and noodles with broccoli 😍
I tried this recipe yesterday and it was a big hit with my family 😊 just a hint to make this a little easier: putting the diced tofu and starch in a plastic box and shaking it around works just as well.
This is such a perfectly timed recipe! Thank you so so much for sharing this amazing recipe! My husband just got a super painful ulcer, so he's basically got to go full vegetarian/vegan to make sure his meals are easy enough to digest. I'm going to try this tonight for the poor pup! Thanks again!
Delicious recipe although I kinda went off recipe. I was missing a few things but as Aaron always says, "dont worry about it"! I didn't have dark soy sauce so I just used more soy sauce, didn't have green onion (sorry Aaron!) so I just added more garlic, and decided to pan fry my brocolli and bell pepper before dumping the sauce mixture in until thickened and then I tossed in the tofu. Still turned out delicious, very easy to make as well. Will be making again
Dear Sir, thank U for this receipe! What is the wine you’re using? Can I use other wine instead of it? I mean some european I have only rice wine at home, but I don’t know if I can use it..
Tofu and broccoli, two of my favourite foods, in one dish! Can't wait to try the singing broccoli and dancing tofu. Also love that you posted a vegetarian recipe; would love to see some more, please 😊
Greetings from Bangalore, India. This looks so good. I am not a tofu fan...so far. I will try this just to see how right you may be that I will become a tofu fan😀 BTW did you say shouting wine? Even the transcript says so. What is it? Never heard of here.
I made this for dinner tonight and the flavour was so delicious. Unfortunately, I don’t think I fried my tofu long enough because when I tossed it in the sauce I can out sticky and slimy. I will make it again but will fry my tofu for much longer. Thanks for a delicious recipe.
I know what you mean, but that’s kind of natural. We found it kind of chewy, though. But if you want to make it super crispy like fried chicken, I suggest using cake flour! Hope this helps! 😁🙌
Am I not using enough oil in my pan? I have tried pan frying the tofu (which I coated in cornstarch) and it sticks to the pan. What am I doing wrong? I usually use a Tupperware container to evenly coat my tofu and then air fry it
I like tofu and I know it's good for ya but I have little space for chopping veggies and stuff....... also doesn't help that my knives are also dull and i am skeptical of cheap knives lol. It looks so good but imma need a place to find the sauces.
As much as I want to copy recipes but i can't coz I have gastritis. i can't eat spices. I just need to be doing bland diet. I keep burping and the gas keeps going up my esophagus and it burns upto my throat. My throat hurts as well all the time. I will be going to doctor probably next week. But of course it will be just the same medicines that I already stop. I hate invasive check ups bigtime. They might do endoscopy on me I am not feeling good about it.
This looks beyond delicious! Shame tofu gets a bad wrap for having phytoestrogen when it's actual estrogen, like in dairy, that is harmful for Cancers. Thanks so much for posting
Could you give us a list of Korean essential cooking ingredients to have at home if we live in Korea? I don't know what to buy and if I'll use something more than once if I buy it.
Yes! You will find yourself using them over and over again. 😍 Please check out this video “11 Essential Ingredients for Korean Food”. Most of them are in this video. Other than that, there are amazon links in the description box. 🤗 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PQKljz46djA.html
I know blanching broccoli keeps the green color but the stupid quick and easy version (for anyone like me who needs it) is microwave with a bit of water. Every chef and mother of impatience people will swear by it. Like chefs will even “hide it” by asking “chef mic” to “handle” the broccoli.
Whenever I do a recipe that coats the tofu in corn starch then pan fry them, the coating on the tofu ends up being more gummy than crispy. What am I doing wrong? :/
The water from the tofu can make that happen, so you can remove more moisture or add more oil when you fry it. But when the sauce goes in, it eventually becomes less crispy, so it’s so natural. But if you really want it to be crispy, I suggest reducing the amount of sauce and toss together as quickly as you can. Hope this helps! 😊
Hi Aaron, I love your recepies, this is great too! 🙂 On MSG, do you mean Monosodium glutamate? In Europe, it is generally considered unsafe because it can cause cancer. Or is this just a joke and you meant a pinch of salt? 🤔
Yes he meant monosodium glutamate. It’s used a lot in Asia, but even in America and Australia it’s pretty common and you can buy it at the supermarket. I don’t use it though.
@@Seánybruv Woww, it is shocking, I have read somewhere that MSG is even banned in baby foods in the US, but I'm not sure if it is true. However, I'm sure it is not healthy. Thank you for the answer :)
For people reading this in the future, MSG is fine. The only thing that robust studies have found (and you can look these things up yourself rather than saying things like "I think I remember X") is that some people might be sensitive to it (the same way some people are sensitive to gluten etc) and that in very high doses (ones that cannot be reached by consuming food with it in) it can have health effects. No study exists where we can prove MSG causes cancer or any other major health issues when consumed as part of a normal diet. I encourage you to read widely whenever these kinds of food scares come up, because often it's a single study being taken wildly out of context by the media.
Main Ingredients 1 package firm tofu 9 oz. broccoli florets 2-3 green onions, finely chopped, whites and greens separated 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped 2 tsp. finely chopped ginger 1 red chili pepper, finely sliced (optional) ½ cup corn starch or potato starch 4 Tbsp. cooking oil, divided ½ tablespoon sesame oil Toasted sesame seeds Sauce Ingredients 1 Tbsp. soy sauce 2 Tbsp. oyster sauce ½ tsp. dark soy sauce 1 Tbsp. sugar 1 Tbsp. Shaoxing wine 1 tsp. chicken bouillon powder ½ cup water 1 Tbsp. cornstarch Pinch of MSG (optional) Cooking Instructions Wrap tofu in paper towels and place something heavy on top. Let sit for 30 minutes to remove moisture. While tofu is resting, place all sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add broccoli florets and blanch for 1 minute. Shock them in ice water to stop the cooking process. This process also keeps the broccoli looking vibrant green. Cut tofu into bite size chunks. In a shallow pan, add corn starch or potato starch. Toss the tofu and cover all sides. In a large pan over medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Once the oil gets hot, add the tofu in single layers. The tofu tends to stick to each other so you may have to do 2 separate batches. Fry for 6-7 minutes or until light golden brown on each side. Once the tofu is done, remove from the pan and place onto a wire rack or a paper towel lined tray. In the same pan over medium high heat, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Once heated, add white part of green onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute. Give the sauce mixture a quick stir and add it to the pan. After about 1 minute or the sauce has thickened, add tofu and broccoli. Toss to coat. Turn off the heat and add sesame oil and give it a final mix. Serve over rice and garnish with remaining green onions, red chili, and toasted sesame seeds.
