I wept, I was born there. I just saw in this clip that it had been condemned a decade before I was born there. The new Lincoln Hospital killed my grandmother/abuelita/mama who raised me, in 1985. Conditions outside of the ICU were horrible, again, and an under-trained phlebotomist drew blood right where it was most deadly, at her dialysis implant,. It sent her into toxic shock, her feet permanently calloused from years on a thin rubber mat over concrete in an industrial laundry six days/week turned black, and she died. What good are such short-lived triumphs, so hard-won and so quickly forgotten, just to return to the status quo? I hope Juan is monitoring conditions in the no-longer-new Lincoln before he heads to the Academy Awards, because if it hasn't improved, they've killed hundreds since then.
Vaya, vaya con Juanito!!! Un verdadero revolucionario. Y sigue fiel a sus ideas, luchando de forma diferente. Felicidades Juan! Un amigo desde España.❤❤
If you want to find your lost pride in being an American, watch this film. If, over the last few years, you've lost all hope for a better world, watch this film. If you are motivated, and seeking inspiration, watch this film. It's an amazing story about how "good trouble" brought about change for the better. The wisdom of those young people to use their creativity to flex their muscle in the most unexpected way to enact change was absolutely epic and incredibly inspiring. A perfect example of how great things can be accomplished even when, for all appearances, you have none of the traditional powers assumed to be required to move mountains. Also the tale one of the most united communities I've ever caught a glimpse of, in which people cared for each other with a true "It takes a village" kind of mentality. I had no idea that Juan was a member of the Young Lords and part of this amazing story. Juan was and is a true American hero. ♥️
Juan González and other Young Lords organized for the public good against healthcare injustice. Together, they made a difference. Organizing for the greater good, as proven in this case and others, can work.
That's right our support and respect for those on the past and the present who lookout for right thing but do when abuses violations has been committed to the people that deserve respect and dignity. Congratulations to Mr. Juan Gonzalez for the nomination this is an inspiration for new generations.
off subject: have you seen the video on Rumble with Senator Ron Johnson as he holds conference with physicians from around the country/world as they discuss covid 19? wow, wow just wow. just watched it last night. long but enlightening.
Wow this is amazing why didn't learn this in nyc history in high school. I remember going to Lincoln hospital as a kid Mayne 69 70. I never knew how bad it was thank you for this clip thank you to those who fought for better health care
