In this, the fifth in our series of identification videos, we look at how to tell Common and Arctic Tern apart. We look at the ID features on perched birds and how to separate them in flight.
It's interesting that common tern is thought of as being white-bellied, and lacking a white cheek. In fact their grayness below and the presence of a paler cheek are some of the best ways to pick out (or eliminate) common tern from Forster's tern across the pond.
