Thanks for sharing. I bought a used or retired one of these radios recently. I was wondering if you know how I can find out what frequency band it's running on. There seems to be only one channel programmed into it and probably only works with the last owners workplace. Mine has 8 channels and I would like to be able to communicate with my Baofeng UV-5R. Do you know any resources that would help me program my Mag One? Or maybe I now own a unique paper weight???
There are many ways to find out! First you want to know if you have a VHF or UHF. You will be able to tell by looking at the antenna whip. If nothing is written. Proceed by analyzing how tall is your whip antenna. VHF Whip antennas are taller than UHF. If you measure the whip antenna against your BPR40 and the antenna can reach the word MagOne you are dealing with a VHF radio if not you have a UHF radio. If you don’t have a whip antenna the third option will be looking at model number: Part numbers: AAH84KDS8AA1AN - VHF 8 CHANNEL AAH84RCS8AA1AN - UHF 8 CHANNEL AAH84KDJ8AA1AN - VHF 16 CHANNEL AAH84RCJ8AA1AN - UHF 16 CHANNEL If your radio doesn’t have a label on the back the four option will be reading the radio using the MagOne CPS software by Motorola Solutions. If you successfully read the radio you will have access to all the information of the radio. If you don’t have the MagOne CPS the fifth option will be using an scanner. If you don’t have an scanner there are other options such as the use of service monitor or spectrum analyzer.... etc. Please keep in mind MagOne is a commercial radio approved by the FCC. If you are a ham radio license that give you rights to transmit in the amateur bands but not in the commercials bands. Hope this help you.
@@Twocommunications Thank you. I see that I have the VHF 8CH according to the serial numbers. That helps a lot and thanks for all the other useful info.
