In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun...The others will die by his sword.
Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun - the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.

The saying is "Par for the course," saying that things went as well as could be expected. The term comes from golf where every course has a "par" meaning the number of swings you're expected to make to get the ball in the hole.

Awesome to see this off the ground, and already very different from what I did in my own attempt at this (I ignored Mino until turn 3), but granted, this was on normal first, then very hard (the second of which I failed to do), I'll be interested to see how this develops going forward.

I know all this has been played out by now but one way to deal with the Imagawa problem is to use monks to start rebellions in their land so their land gets held by rebels. I believe that would've also been part of the way to make the OG Tokugawa your vassal rather than their replica.

Actually Tokugawa Hirotado is the same person (Tokugawa iaiaso) but he changed his name to that later in his life.

That is hilarious. With how you describe I imagine your diplomat is just reading off his hand in really scribbled on writhing and that’s why the numbers keep changing. He’s not sure if he wrote 150 or 50 or 100.

Par for the course is a golf term its used when the average or expected outcome on the particular hole (aka the average amount of strokes to a hole) so not core.

I have a dream of doing this at some point, but it is incredibly difficult. Ideally you get 5 provinces, 1 for each Metsuke and you just SHOVE koku down your vassal's face. Sometimes they make progress, but they are horrible at sealing the deal. The bonus is that your vassal loves you as you give them gifts constantly. But you'll be there for a while watching them kinda pussyfooting around not doing things you would clearly do.

@@MrSmartDonkeyLP Ah yeah, I had a few drinks when I made the previous comment and the second video you just posted had me realize that I thought this challenge was something different. I've tried so hard to have a vassal essentially win the game for me with me funding it, as described in my previous comment. But that's not what this challenge is.

I know this is Very far fetched for you to do as a series... But could you do the Imjin War mod on steam/Morning Sun as a series? Version 3.2 on the forums that is, not the steam parts 1-8 as they're obviously different builds. Its a long campaign, but it adds Korea which is awesome but if you need walkthrough ideas I think it'd be a fun one at least to me. (Even tho I have literally alot of mods on besides the imjin one, its a challenge on very hard with buff mods XD)

You can get a ninja and assassinate the Tokugawa daimyo to make it ieyasu

If Tokugawa Hirotada dies, Ieyasu (who's 2 at the start of the campaign) will become their Daimyo, but if you take the town and make them your vassal that way, the family tree resets, since the clan will briefly be destroyed, blinking in and out of existence, like they did here; the army the 'old version' had still disappeared. The only way to make Tokugawa Ieyasu your vassal is to make the 'original version' of the Tokugawa your vassal, since then they'd be using the same family tree, and Ieyasu will eventually lead the clan.

As exprienced Shogun 2 player, can you tell is actually possible to win campaign with vassals or allies. Because when start this "This is total war" challange all just declare war and betrays you?

That's only before I trigger realm divide. Once I trigger realm divide I can do whatever I want.

After realm divide (and specifically, after becoming shogun) it's not a 'do whatever you want', but more vassals will be allowed (and indeed the only way to win), and those new vassals won't suffer from realm divide either, since they would come into existence as a vassal of the shogun, the only negative opinion they'd suffer is territorial expansion and the inherent 'anti-player bias'.

i think this will be your most annoying challenge yet, mostly because you went for domination mode. as you are not allowed to hold much land your victory conditions will have to be done by tokugawa, who will stab you in the back 12 times out of 10 even before realm divide. can you loan dunderbuss cav from otomo for a few volleys, if you know what i mean?

It’ll be okay, I did the Ashikaga Shogunate campaign before that’s basically a “This is Total War” challenge on steroids, at war with the entire world after 4 turns, even all the clans I hadn’t met yet. This challenge is a piece of cake in comparison.

Man do you know how to use mods. Its one of my favorite total war games but original look so bad and pure, number of provinces is to small, number of man in one unit is to small.....alomst everything is to bad
