From the Offroad world I learned to jam a stick into the middle of the knot on stuff like that (fold over or loop through eyelet). grab any stick you find, put it in the middle of the knot as you're tying it and then you can twist the stick and the knot will come free. (Pulled jeeps out of mud holes and the stick loosen the knot so easily a kid could undo it!)

Don: I have had this issue with trees that do not co-operate. I think if you cut it free from the roots and then just start cutting 16" lengths, for firewood, it will become more manageable for the tractor to pull it away from the other tree. Same idea as below. Take it slow and easy and all will be ok. Take care and stay safe.

A come along is handy to pull it over. Chain saw both sides of thr tree slightly offset to remove the tension then just cut it

Well, your rock wall looks great. As far as the tree goes, I’m certain by now that you figured out what to do OR you already called “that guy”. If not, cut the butt free of the rootwad being careful not to pinch your chain on the underside. As I saw it slowly fall, I’m not worried about the pressure on the tree; therefore, once the butt is cut free, begin by making cuts every 4 or 5 feet along its length as your comfort level dictates. If you’re unwilling to cut it until it’s perpendicular to the ground, cut it until it’s only moderately leaning and then pull it free of the other tree’s crotch with your tractor and a long chain. Not certain your rope is enough to do the job.

Pull the tractor up the hill and hook a chain around the tree and hook the chain to the bucket and use the back hoe and pull it

You should have cut it down first and guide it with a come along. Working backwards....
