Yes they are pretty strict about this now. Any motor attached to the vessel will need to be registered. The only way to avoid it would be to have a mobile hand held device.

@@NextLevelFishingTV sorry for the newb question. But when you say mobile hand held, is that a motor with handheld remote like Bixpy? Or is there an actual hand held motor brand you can recommend?

No worries, what I mean by hand held is the actual motor itself. Some companies have Bixpy sort of devices attached to a hand pole. The kayak only has to be registered if the motor is part of the vessel. There’s a current loop hole that if you attach a motor to a pole and clip it down like a paddle when not in use, it’s technically a motor not attached or part of the kayak…therefore no registration is needed.
