I like the video and love the fact that the keyboard is silent. QQ? Does it have any hidden feature for the backlight? I have my desk in the bedroom, and sometimes, late at night, it is hard for me to see the keys.
Thank you. What happens if the bluetooth is disabled on the computer? Does it still work? Does the keyboard have have delay because of bluetooth pairing?
If Bluetooth is disabled is does not work, keyboard does not have a delay, but sometimes when you come back to the computer after a while the keyboard takes a few seconds to wake up. But otherwise while typing, I never have any delay :)
@@MichaelStent Something similar happens with a wireless mouse I have. If I left it for half a minute or so it will take a little movement to react, and after that works like a wired mouse. But if I left it for over a minute or so, it will go to a stand by mode and will not react unless I click it.
If i use to laptops i habe some issues to unpait and pair with the another laptop (both laptops are running at the same time). If i press the pairing button on the back of the keyboard it is going in pairing mode and the on esc-button flashes constantly. Then i try to connect with the other laptop but it doesnt work. I have to delete the earler paired device in the setting and have to add the keyboard newly again in the microsoft settings. Is there a easier process to switch between two running notebooks ?
You could get rechargable batteries and solve that problem. I initially tough the same as you but then I realized that if the integrated battery goes bad on the thing then you'll have to throw out the whole keyboard.
Having this keyboard quite a while and cannot figure out what is the use of the key right to the search key ( circle 3 dots ) even the internet behave like it doesn´t exist :D.
no, it wouldnt be nice to have usb rechargeable port, cos if the rechargeable battery was gone, the keboard was done. the battery last aprox 3 4 years, more or less, this keyboard looks like will last longer. it's so basic and good that i dont mind the missing backight function. i replace the battery 3 months ago and it is at 92% atm. so removble battery is one of the best function. same with the mouse (no matter the brand), way better with replaceble batteries than with rechargeable. edit: you can also use removable rechargeable batteries and a charger and you will have unlimited power, lol.
I think the MS Surface Keyboard (silver and grey) is a much better comparison to the Apple Keyboard. It looks very similar to the Apple keyboard, minimal, full size, aluminum construction, x2 replaceable AA batteries that offer 1yrs worth of use, plus a handy low power mode. Offering a very quiet typing experience, it uses chiclet style keys, that feel identical to the Apple keyboard. With rock solid build quality, it connects via Bluetooth and retails for £89 in the UK. Released in 2016 and still available, its fantastic and in my opinion, still the best Apple keyboard equivalent for Windows desktops. Also replaceable batteries are arguably far better for the environment. Just ensure that you purchase/use some rechargeable AA's. USB-C integrated cells have an average life of around 5 years, degrade over time and are usually non-repairable/replaceable. So you are throwing your keyboard away after 5yrs or reliant on a wired connection, if the keyboard supports that. Not so with replaceable AA batteries. You can recharge and replace them whenever required, giving your keyboard a much longer lifespan.
To Michael Stent, Your video of this product is very good and I just recently brought the same ‘Microsoft 7N9-00006 Designer Bluetooth Desktop - Black’ as well and it was finally good getting a ‘Apple’ like style keyboard feel again. But during my first week with it both the Keyboard and Mouse kept on freezing and the mouse cursor disappearing from time to time as well. So, I was wondering if this kind of saturation happen to you as well? Right now, I’m returning this product back and I’m hoping (really hoping) that this ‘Microsoft WS2-00003 Surface Bluetooth Keyboard - Grey (UK Layout)’ is good. If not, I’m going to return that product as well. My second question is that, do you know any other good Chicklet style Bluetooth keyboard brand beside Microsoft? (Also, I did restart my PC twice, turn on and off my Bluetooth USB Adapter (ASUS BT500 USB) and tested my Bluetooth gaming pad in a fighting game (pressing one bottom only) while moving the mouse cursor, just to be sure.)
Occasionally the Bluetooth device will switch off to save power when you're not using it for a while. It takes a second or two to turn on once you sit back down to it again, but once it's on, I never really have any issues. Surface keyboard looks great. It's a good thing in my opinion that Bluetooth devices go into sleep mode to save battery every now and then.
The keyboard is absolutely great for the price. The mouse sucks major ass, it’s uncomfortable. The drawback from the keyboard is the lack of metal support so mine bent a bit almost immediately. Solved the problem with little adhesive strips and it’s been my trusty keyboard for three years.
The mouse is pretty disappointing, it's too low, the scroll wheel can get stuck unless you put your finger right on the center... there are so many better mice for that price. I haven't tried the keyboard but I had a Microsoft Surface KB and the bluetooth connection was kind of unstable, also for the price at the very least it should come with backlight.
- Giving your fingerprint to big data is so bad and dangerous. Especially If someone hack the computer. - No cable for charging is bad. Triple AAA batteries for the planet? what the heck Give me cabled without fingerprint
I bought this set after seeing this review but as shown in the review, the mouse is the worst, worthless, useless, the worst of the worst mouse I've ever own and keyboard is pretty amazing though
This is hands down the *worst* keyboard I have ever used (and keyboards are really hard to get wrong), and given its made by Microsoft themselves you'd think it'd integrate well with basic Windows functions, but it insists so hard on being "clever" its just an absolute pain. Its F1 to F12 keys are set to have Windows hot-key functions over just functioning as any regular keyboard, so say you need to exit an application using Alt + F4, it will instead open Microsoft media player, and the Print Screen function is somehow locked to another "smart" feature that has no relevance to my life and that I can't even over-ride with a proper print-screen application. I have repeatedly tried to disable these functions, which I could only find 1 good video on how to properly do, which is a mix of holding 3-4 keys down simultaneously for 5 seconds...but after a little while of using it it will automatically revert back to this annoying hot-key feature, which will have all manner of impacts even if you game and use assigned F-key functions for other things i.e interrupt your game to start some bs "smart" app. Not to mention that if you restart your computer, your keyboard bluetooth will almost without fault just disable itself, so you can't even type in your password without taking your Bluetooth USB stick out of the computer, wait, then plug it back in, and then hope that it starts working again. Sometimes this takes 2-3 tries (this morning it failed me completely so I gave up and ordered a new keyboard from a different manufacturer). For overall use keyboard is OK to use and has a nice look to it, but it has got to be the most annoying and inconvenient keyboard I have ever used. Avoid.
