As I was watching this video I couldn't help but admire your jumper and think 'I would love a jumper like that'. I used your techniques to think about why I shouldn't look for one rather than should and the first thing I said to myself is that we have different skin and hair tones and colourings and while it looks amazing on you, it would wash me out. I looked in my own wardrobe at what I already have and realised that I don't need another jumper. Your techniques definitely work!
I started to add things to my Amazon basket and leave them there for a few days. When I went back and looked I realised I didn't want them anymore. It has made me realise how much money I have been wasting.
I'm really enjoying yourself videos & transparency. I watched the new ones and have started back watching the older ones. I hope you continue to share.
Woah, love this. You’re really leveraging your PhD as it relates to consumerism and I love that take on minimalism! I have such a bad habit of buying something because it looked great on someone or it was a recommended “find”. I love certain RU-vidrs for their essence but the “sponsored” stuff really triggers me to buy. I wish RU-vidrs didn’t have to do this but I understand that it’s a way to monetize their effort poured into a channel. I will start using the “What is wrong with this item” instead of assuming the material and fit would be perfect for me if it was perfect for someone who recommended it. Thanks!
I actually do put things in my basket but then I close the website and walk away thinking that I will revisit the next day and do the purchase. Most of the time I forget about it and other times I decide not to buy this/these iem(s) after all!!!
Another great video. I liked your idea of looking at something and asking yourself what is wrong with it, what you’d change about it if you were designing it. Simple, but oh so helpful! I’ve used a technique my sister-in-law introduced me to. If I see something in a store I think I’d really like (but don’t necessarily NEED) I put it in my cart and continue shopping for awhile, telling myself it’s mine if I really want to buy it. Almost every time I end up putting it back. Using this idea, you get the joy of “buying” it without the cost and without having to store it or maintain it.
@10:37 I totally agree!!!!!! Most ppl do not think about this at all!!!! I hope your channel blows up, this info is so helpful and can be very beneficial. I appreciate your videos 🤗 God bless you
The video quality is great! It’s such a nice surprise when new channels have great aesthetic all around. I’m just gonna keep commenting to feed the YT algorithm 😅
I have actually implemented many of these tips throughout thr last few years. Its definitely been so helpful to slow the spending and accumulation. I have been able to hone in on my style and aesthetic because I have become super selective. It's been so freeing! This is a terrific video!!!!
I like the strategy of focusing on the negative aspects of a potential new purchase. Did you come up with this idea yourself? It's the first time I have heard this strategy articulated.
I just discovered your channel and I love it! Such a refreshing view on minimalism and associated topics. So far, from what I’ve seen, I have loved all your outfits! Would love to follow along. Do you have an Instagram or Pinterest account for slice of light?
We have an expression in Italian that is commonly used: Let's say you are deciding if you want to buy something and someone tells you: oh come on, it's just 10 euros. You would answer: yeah, but between having them and not having them it's 20 euros. As you said, it makes no mathematical sense. But I guess we have that mind set 😄
This is something we women need most. Naturally men are hunters & women are gatherers...and we're really good at gathering 😀 lol Thanks for tips on this lifestyle change .
I like what your saying, but I am struggling to listen because the music is overpowering your voice. Please lower the volume and choose something less clashing. Thank you!
