Actually fun fact for you the blocking diode is there so that if one panel is shaded it won’t negatively impact the other panels ie if one panel is shaded the other panels will still perform as they should. If blocking diodes aren’t used the other panels performance will drop down to the same as the shaded panel

I don't think mine came with the blocking diode as if I shade one panel it exports no power. I am contacting iTech about it.

Suggestion, produce a follow up review showing the volts and amps output of the solar panel in various environments. Without this info the product review is useless. Thanks for the content. Cheers

@explorebound Год назад
Yep a follow-up running through that info in the works - currently I don't have a battery monitor to collect this data but will be purchasing one in the coming month or so. This video is more an unboxing/first look, as well as running through what differentiates these panels from the previous model being the Raptor Skin coating. Cheers!

Hi, I think you should power up the regulator (pwm/mppt) first by clipping the regulator (via alligator or Anderson) to the battery first so the regulator sees if it is a 12 or 24v setup, then plug the blanket into the regulator. This has been the rule for most regulators. Good review I may look at the 200w as a backup unit. Cheers

Great video! Can you also share some numbers as in how many amps you're getting out of the blanket in when in full sun / how much when it's overcast?

Thanks mate! Yep I'm planning to install a proper battery monitor to keep track of amps in/out in the next month or so - will report back on my findings here afterward. 🙂

I hope to have solar power for my window air conditioner by March/April after getting two more panels and a few parts. I`ll be using a 300ah LiFeP04 rated at 200 amps, a 60 amp MPPT charge controller, and a 2000 watt inverter with 780 watts of solar input to start. I plan to slowly add panels as needed afterwards. My AC runs at 400-500 watts. I also have a collection of 250 to 700 watt solar power stations for everything from fans to freezers.

I see one glaring problem with these panels: NO GROMMETS ALONG THE SIDES. This enables locking them with a cable lock to roof racks, etc. Leave these panels just setting around at a campsite unsecured and they are begging a thief to take them.

I got a fixed panel on the roof. It's really if you don't drive it often and it's out side to keeps the beers cold I will get a folding panel latter

Is there a minimum amp hour or wattage battery one needs to use a 300w solar blanket? EG if my battery is 30ah lithium deep cycle can I use a 300w solar blanket safely to charge it?
@baneverything5580
@baneverything5580 Год назад
That will power a USB fan in very low light. You can also use USB powered battery chargers.

Great you got them for free but you didn't show how many amp going in to your battery that's what we all need to no it truly 300watts please do vid on that in full sun and in the shade just don't tell us how good they are when you got them for free we have to pay for them😞🤔

But what if they ARE good - then how do we tell you? 😟😖 Also please try to remember nothing is for free - we work in return for products like this. It’s still time and resources put in, the same as any job.

Hi Daniel & Bianca won't the sand covering that little bit of the bottom of the panels affect the outcome of the charging power!

Solar is a bigger game changer then a 79 ahahahahaha 👌 you will now wonder why you waited soo long without it ahahahahah Also heads up for new people, the included solar controller is a PWM (50/60%) what isnt as effiecent as a quality MPPT (90%+) but handy to have one in the kit anyway

Hey mate, I'm planning to install a battery monitor in the next month or so and will do some more indepth testing on this (and how charging through the DCDC compares to the included regulator). I'll comment back with my findings and potentially make a follow-up review after using it properly for 6 months or so. 🙂

I just got my solar set up late last year and love it. Might I suggest that you use the regulator instead of running it through the DC-DC as the extra voltage generated by the panel gets converted to heat. The electronics In the DC-DC hate heat. I would rather replace a cheaper solar reg than fork out for a new DC-DC. Also keeps the systems seperate on a longer trip so you have a built in redundancy in case one fails.
@bradmullaerialphotography

Hmm those solar regulators should only turn on when the battery side is plugged in. And there should be 22v ish coming in not 14.4

They do look great - unfortunately my portable power station requires an OCV of 35V or more and I see on the website that your panel has a max. OCV of 24.4V, so won’t work. When you do get your battery monitor I’d be more interested in the watts coming in than the amps. Solar is awesome, enjoy!

Brought the 300 watt solar blanket. It only puts out 145w. I Will never buy anything from a one store wonder. It’s too hard, to get the solar panel fixed. Will now have to buy an additional solar panel, to replace this useless itec one, will go to BCF. Itec, technical support, is pathetic, no customer care, skills.
