Excellent description of the bike in a short video, wished it was longer. Also the footage and cinematography was excellent. I'm a fan of SWM. More SWM vids please. Thank you.
I just went out for my first dirt ride on my SWM RS300 dual sport, and I feel the suspension is spot on through the sand whoops, and hard-pack trails, 155lbs and I'm only 5'4 so the seat height at a stop is my only issue,. Great bike, I should have bought it last summer. But I'm tighter than the skin on a hot dog.
I am a owner of an rs500 2019 model, I think the engine, suspension and frame of these bikes are great and they are almost the unicorn bike that is highly desired especially by drz400 owners, swm just need to get there quality control better like the Japanese have done years ago, the plastics are very poor quality with no aftermarket support the starter motor is poor quality, there are many reports of wheel spooks coming lose as I have experienced, the seat has a poor fit up, 6th gear is to short needs a wider spreed resulting in better road capability, I also think the air filter needs more protection from water! I think it is realistic for swm to rectify these faults at an affordable cost to them!
Thanks for feedback! I too have a 2019 RS 500, the SWM ,it is a way better bike than the DRZ, better handling, suspension. I do agree the plastics need to be improved, we upgraded the battery to a Lithium and have much better results with the starter. Checking spokes once in while relived any concern there, they are set now! SWM has been and is continuing take feedback and has improved the bike details. We look forward to continuing to sell and service SWM. They are a best buy in the realm of real dirt ready bikes! Happy Trails!
Thinking of buying an swm.there aren't many dealers for them here in Australia I'm just a bit worried about after sales service, parts availability etc
I was pretty interested in getting a couple of these as rentals for my business but I couldn't never really get any traction with the importer. They look like a fantastic deal and great bikes though.
I was in a dealership that had a 2022 RS 500 and the clutch pull on both of the bikes they had Felt like a 490 maico :-). Is that what you have experienced and if so what’s the fix? I also read about starter issues have the address that problem as well? I ride a lot alone in remote areas so those things are of concern. Thanks
Hi Tom, I can not speak to the bikes you looked at But I can say the new RE 500 we have on the floor has a buttery clutch lever, I also checked one of the two SWM's I own, Butter!
I’m really getting interested in these bike but can’t seem to find any dealers close by (South FL). I was looking at the CRF300, DRZ400 and the KLX300 but this bike seems to beat all of them from what I can tell. Hopefully I can find one to at least see in person soon!
Warrior, while I haven't ridden the CRF yet, I have ridden the DRZ and the KLX, the SWM would smoke them both. The SWM is a real treat, with more performance all-round!
Well I might be bias, as we are SWM dealers, but I own 2 SWM's of my own, a RS300 and RS500. Parts are more available for the SWM, although many parts are the same as Husky
@@bikeguysoffroad ive given it some tought but ive descited to go for swm, the second hand market for those in my country is just to good. i can get a bike under 3K with 1000 miles on. would you happen to know where i can find information on what swm has changed troughout the years?
Choices like this are what I am facing. I can get a pretty good low-mile KTM, with maybe some mods I like, for the same as a new 500rs. It's my time on one of those old 510 Huskys that makes me a potential Smiling Working Maniac. Still, pretty fortunate to have the choice, and kinda sure I'll enjoy either way
You are correct!! The SWM is built in the same factory, by the same people, when KTM bought the name Husqvarna they left the tooling and every thing so the bike was Re-branded as SWM a Italian favorite of the 70's and 80's. The engineers up dated and upgraded the 310, 510,and 610. We have a brand new RS 300 dual sport in the shop now! Call the shop for more info! I personally own a RS300 and a RS500.
Okay guys.... The upcoming RE300 or an SPR310? 58-year-old C-Class Rider in eastern woods conditions. If you had to choose which would it be? Price not a consideration..
@@bikeguysoffroad I have a 2008 TE250 and it is a hoot to ride. I have an ajp dealer about 45 minutes away while my closest swm dealer is 3 to 4 hours from me. I'm sure the ajp guy could work on any issues that were beyond my capability so really it just boils down to which is the better bike for trail riding in the east. I know you sell both so you really can't advise one over the other..
@@bikeguysoffroad For me it’s just really trying to avoid the big box bikes and support small boutique manufacturers. My most likely finalist will be the AJP SPR 310, the SWM RE300 or perhaps a Beta or Sherco. Definitely A midsize four stroke
Hi Gabriel, We have a brand new SWM RS300, available now with a retail price of $6995. Fully dual-sport, fully off-road capable. I too ride own and ride a RS 300
