It goes without saying, you deserve much more attention. This is hands down the best travel series in Canada. The amount of work you put into the videos is impressive. Cheers to many wonderful things coming your way.
I'm glad you're not just doing famous tourist spots; in normal times they are wildly overcrowded, and everybody's holding up their phone. I 'm really enjoying all the interesting people you're meeting, the First Nation hospitality sites and of course, the trains.
I very much concur here Mike. Will we also again see your parents and sister in any of this new series? They also bring out another side of you and more to the viewing table.
Another great video... although it was not Queen Victoria, who travelled by train across Canada, it was King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the parents of our current queen.
Mike, I've seen a car load of rail travel videos, most of them on Amtrak. I've got to say, yours are the best. One of the reasons why is that you get off the rails and go exploring. I've seen the first five weeks, and I'll be watching the whole trip.
We took the train from Montreal to Quebec City this last week. What an experience. I shared with the staff that 42 years ago I took that train with my family and have been hanging a cardboard rail car, they gave me on that trip, on our Christmas tree every year. They then gave me the updated version (a few of them) so that we can now have our kids continue the tradition with their own rail cars. That VIA Rail time was magical.
Great video. Given your affinity for trains, if you haven't already been to the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, you need to add it to your list. Amazing.
No way! The overpass/bridge you're standing on after getting to Montreal is my city! I cross the Champlain often! Glad you enjoyed your time here :) I've GOT to visit that train museum now
Absolutely loved this! You choose the most interesting places in each province which gives more of an insight than just going to the traditional tourist spots. Your enthusiasm is wonderful and a breath of fresh air. Those sights of the Gulf of St. Lawrence were wonderful and the Magdalen Islands are beautiful There is a novel by a Scottish author (Entry Island, by Peter May) where a large part of the plot centres on the islands being inaccessible due to severe weather. Worth reading. And Montreal! I’ve lived here since I moved to Canada in ‘67 and it’s the best place! And yes, we do have the absolutely best bagels. Our public transit system is wonderful (the Metro!) and I can’t wait to ride on the REM.
I get so excited waiting for your next vlog... And....I am NEVER dissappointed... Your quality and workmanship are superb....Traveling with Will and You is like taking a history class about 'O Canada...I am learning a ton .......such volumes of knowledge.... If I were on the school board, this would be a course requirement, before graduation, for all students...Nice, Mike......very Nice !!!!!
I just watched the finale! Loved the series, was very impressed with the stays in each of the provinces. The train trip was wonderful, reminded me of a past life when I rode the train almost weekly. Can we(you) continue the Canadian theme with the territories? Maybe not by train but they are bound to be interesting! Love your show and look forward to every episode. Continue with the fascinating content and keep safe and happy!!
Nice work, Mike! You have been to Quebec the French speaking of Canadian province, I thinking about all Canadian on there side could speak French besides English with little bit, hehehe.... How beautiful is Quebec and Canada is most beautiful, unique, and as our good-great home. Have a great successful life! 😘😉👌🏻
This series is so amazing the people the experiences the history and future am not a Canadian but is so amazing to see and learn from your experiences and seeing you exploring your country is inspiring and it shows me even tho you live in your home country there is always something new to see and learn which makes me wanna go explore my country and see new places and meet new people that while give you memories that will last and memories that you can share with your kids or grand kids one day .
they finally taking notes from japanese railway. if only all the railways and public transport in canada was as efficient and on time as the ones in japan
I'm enjoying this series for the way you get around by public transport wherever you can as much as the places you visit. You do seem to spend a lot of time with coastguards though, does that count as public transport? Looking forward to seeing you head ever more west.
#&$@%#&/% Mike! Now I have more places to visit. My bucket list is growing by leaps and bounds due to this series of yours. I need a new bucket. Ile des Madeline is one of the most beautiful places I've never heard of. Till now
This USA viewer is positively in love with this series and so impressed with so many interesting things I have never seen in Canada even though I have been to several of the provinces you have featured so-far, I have also been to BC and fell in love with your videos way back then before you ever knew you would be on this trans-Canada train adventure. Makes me happy to see your success and proud to have such a wonderful nation as Canada so close to me in New England.
Should have gone to some cathedrals as well in Quebec City and Montreal. They are probably the best in the country. This 25 min video doesn't do justice how beautiful Quebec is. I live in Ontario so super excited for next week's episode.
I went to Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa and many other places a few years ago with my school. Being from the west, it was crazy to see and learn about such a beautiful part of our country!
Hello from Turkey! I love watching what you cover but to be honest every city could be an independent episode. It feels like you’re moving too fast and I feel like I want to see more of what you’re covering😂
Mike, that was a terrific episode. Terrific! What was the flaming drink - coffee drink? - you were having with your meal in Quebec City? Please let us know... 🔥🔥🔥
Nice to see some left handed golfing action from Will. Wicked cool video as always! Loved the Coast Guard part and I had no idea about that cool island, Les Iles De La Madeleine. Thinking when I try to do my "bucket list trip" for Canada...it's getting longer each week!! haha. If you've ever taken a ride on the Metro (or any public train) during winter, then you know how nice it will be to have heated floors in the cars! On to Toronto...which I last visited in 2006.
I got sidetracked in February after my father passed away and i finally get to watch this today. My grandfather was a conductor on the Ocean. While rummaging through papers yesterday, i found a typewritten report of a train accident from 1934 🚂 (when it was not called the Ocean, just wthe Montreal-Halifax CN tpassenger train). I also found a bus ticket from Vancouver in the 1950s, as my dad went there to work because you could earn 3$ an hour there back then instead of 2$ in Québec.
Again, loved it. Cannot wait for AB. Somehow though one way or another, at the museum, I kinda missed a few seconds of the Canadian Railroad Trilogy. Love that song.
Lucy .. You're 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯right! The island is absolutely stunning (!!) It's like .. even the sound of Les Iles De La Madeleine itself when you heard it is so beautiful⭐
Hi Mike. That is some heck of an amazing train museum !!! I was really feeling " down" this morning , but watching your video really cheered me up !🧡 Your videos are the highlight of my weekend ( yes, I live a pretty boring life)....and I look forward to the next installment , next weekend ❤️
Great trip! The island was awesome, the older couple was awesome as was the ferry. I really liked the rail road museum, I think I could get lost in there for hours. I am looking forward to Ontario. I travel through Ontario from New York to Michigan yearly or more often with exception of the Covid years. Thank you so much for this trip, it was one of the best!
the first clip of the cliffs was amazing!! you're one of the best Canadian youtubers that shows amazing views, and that is genuinely passionate about the subject and the stories behind said places and the trains for sure!! I'm stoked to see what's next!!
Can’t believe you went to Iles de la Madeleine. I’ve wanted to go there because of another RU-vidr, @ArienneArsenault, who has a soap making business. She makes soaps from ingredients found all over the island. This adventure is so cool. I was born in Toronto, and my family is all in Manitoba. I can hardly wait for the next 2 weeks!
There was a turntable about 200 meters from my house a loooonnnng time ago 💜I didn't see it, but i think my dad (who was born in 1928) saw it when he was a kid.
Ah... Sorry I came late today. Totally slept thru until now 😅 Wow, another stunning episode! However, I thought I'd be able to hear you speak mostly in French this episode though.. 😏hee hee
16:37 Fun fact : The stained glass of North America on the ceiling in la Gare du Palais has been inside the wrong side, so it looks reversed when you look at it ;)
Isabelle is right, this cape is on of the best place for a sunset in les îles-de-la-Madeleine. And thanks for being careful in the dunes! We need to protect them! :) :) And yes, you SHOULD do more specials on Québec! There's tons of good bagels in Montreal juste like them in St-Viateur. But yes, they are delicious. Anywa, you're so funny! I like thos videos so much!
Les Iles de la Madeleine were settled by displaced Acadians, and when an English overlord tried to come claim it some years later, a bunch of them left to settle the North Shore of the St-Lawrence river (towns like Havre-St-Pierre, formerly called Pointe-aux-Esquimaux (sic), and other fishing settlements along the coast). My adoptive mom's ancestors were among those who went "NUH-HUH! You won't catch us twice, bastards.." xD And on the sadder side, they were also responsible for the overhunting of sea lions on the islands, and the "last sea lion" seen/killed was recorded in the 1800s if I recall correctly... They hunted it for oil. I found a diary online that was digitized from one of those settlers on the island that left for Havre-St-Pierre, before and after. He mostly records catch, which makes it a pretty boring read tbh... but a rare glimpse into early settler life. The guy even recorded the names of everyone who made it to town and when, a genealogist's dream!
That is a different side of Québec City for sure! The whole old town (which i love, i live there) has been done to death, so nice of you for showing something else! also love hearing our French on the show ❤I often feel like RU-vid is very English-centric, and i myself get tired of making videos in English (but 95% of my audience is Anglophone). I'm gonna make more French vlogs coming soon, even if it means more work on the subtitles!
So neat Mike. I love Quebec City. There is a Salvador Dolly sculpture on the plaza over looking the St Lawerence. To much to see, and there’s not enough time.
WOW great videos thanks for sharing the experience bud you are amazing and awesome and I think it would be an honour to meet you someday I’m a farmer north west of Edmonton Alberta on our 100 year old family farm
I absolutely loved this video. Though I was born and live in the U.S. my family originally came from Quebec. David Letourneau went to Quebec from France sometime in the 1640's. This was at the bidding of Louis XIV who was looking for craftsmen to set up business in the new world. I have gone to Quebec twice and loved it. Thanks for putting this video out!
Twenty two years ago I visited Montreal. I loved the place but one day I want to go back and see a Habs game. There can't be many Habs fans in Yorkshire.
